I did this a while ago (it was actually for Inuyasha's birthday) and posted it to my Instagram but I don't think I ever posted it here.
I started reading the New Suicide Squad comics recently and decided to sketch a picture of Harley Quinn from it. Harley is one of my favourite DC characters, possibly even surpassing batman, and she was the entire reason I decided to start reading new suicide squad.
I saw this cool painting while waiting in the dental surgeons office so I decided to a bit of a sketch based on it. I wish I had written down the name of the painting or artist so I could give credit.
I drew this on my phone based on an advertisement I saw while waiting on a haircut a while ago.
This was kind of a quick sketchy drawing I did on my phone whenever I had a bit of free time. I didn’t think it was that good (since it was just drawn on my phone) but when I posted it to instagram it got a few likes and even one from the deadpool stunt double.
Since I haven’t posted here much I decided I’d queue up some of the better sketches I’ve done like this.
I haven’t posted here for a while (I don’t think I’ve posted all year) and figured it was about time I did. I started and finished watching Rick and Morty recently and loved it so I figured I’d draw something from it.
My instagram has a few drawings I haven’t shared here, because I feel I should leave this for more completed pictures rather than sketches or WIP. If you’re interested in that you can find it here (I also post non art stuff there, like my pets or lion dancing stuff)
I’ve been wanting to do some drawing request streams but before I do that I want to update my Picarto banner and avatar (also considered switching over to twitch instead) and when I do that I want to update my tumblr, youtube, etc layout as well...If I’m going to do that though I’ll announce it in advance.
so quite a lot of people expressed interest in a guide to lion dance! and since the lunar new year is coming up in a couple weeks, which means everyone’s exposure to lions is probably going to increase, i figured i’d go ahead and make it! right click + open in new tab to fullview, etc etc, i hope it’s helpful, although if you only take one thing away from this powerpoint, it’s this: lions are not dragons
disclaimer: i learned fut san style at an american university, and the senior members of the troupe were almost all from hong kong and taiwan, so most of my knowledge is drawn from what they taught me. lion dance varies widely depending on the style and the country of origin, and many schools do things differently! this is just an attempt to establish a baseline and give you a really basic intro to one of my favorite art forms. :)
This is amazing had to share it. Simple and easy to understand but all things I wish more people were aware of! (Also love the way the Lions are drawn)
I had to share this from my instagram since no matter what I tried I couldn’t upload it straight to here.
Decided to quickly put together this collage of some of my favourite work I've done this year, including some images I haven’t posted here before.
I've done a lot more fully coloured images this year, largely due to finally figuring out my own shading style/process which boosted my confidence a bit. Obviously I have plenty of room to improve, and I have noticed specific things I’d like to work on, but overall I'm pretty happy with the art I've done this year and its been amazing to see other people enjoying it too .
If you’d like to see the full size image for any of these you can find all the art I’ve posted to tumblr here.
I wasn't planning on sharing this until at least the base model was done but changed my mind since I haven’t posted anything else for a while now (I have a bunch of plans but I've been too exhausted with the heat to work on any of them).
Just finished this drawing of Nora, took longer than I would have liked (partially due to trying to get my second monitor set up properly)
I was going to draw her using her semblance to absorb lightning through Magnhild but decided it wouldn’t have really worked too well (too much negative space, and not quite sure how I would draw the lightning)
I’m planning on drawing at least Jaune and Ren as well, but might end up drawing Winter and/or Qrow first-speaking of which, unfortunately I can’t get the RT site to load videos so despite being a sponsor can’t watch the new episode yet :(
Anyway, I hope you guys like this.
Hey guys! Firstly I’ve been really happy by the response my Pyrrha drawing got from people, and I’ll definitely be doing more similar art since I was pretty happy with it myself and I think the style of RWBY works nicely with my style (and besides its a huge inspiration for me and just makes me want to create)
I’ve also created an Instagram account, @Neighthirst where, even though I will post general stuff from my life, I primarily intend it as another place to share my art. The plan is from now on I’m not going to be posting work in progress pictures on this blog, instead those will go up on my instagram. I’ll post completed works to both but I’ll run my tumblr more professionally in terms of when and what content I post, whilst I’ll share on Instagram whenever there’s something I think is worth sharing.
I’ve been wanting to draw Pyrrha for a while, she isn’t my favourite RWBY character (or even favourite member of team JNPR) but she’s a very cool character and I think she, along with the rest of JNPR, is also very relatable. I actually haven’t watched the newest episode of RWBY yet because I’ve been focussing on getting this done.
I used this stock photo by Tasastock on deviantart as a bit of a reference for the pose.
You may have realized I haven’t posted here for quite some time. I’ve pretty much decided to stop working on this blog but I hadn’t let you guys know yet because there was something I wanted to do first, which I’ll explain below. (long sappy post follows)

What will probably be the last ever post to Pastel Paws. Hopefully I will get back to updating this blog soon (currently recovering from surgery and going through some stuff which has kind of impacted my creativity and determination so I don’t know how soon exactly)

Holdups on future art.
I haven’t posted any new art here for a little while, the last thing I posted was the Mogar drawing I did (which has been the most successful thing I’ve posted to tumblr and I’m super appreciative of that). Anyway I just wanted to keep people in the loop about what’s happening in regards to future art, particularly since a lot more people have potentially been exposed to this blog since the Mogar thing. I don’t know whether anyone will actually read any/all of this but it at least helps me keep my thoughts in order. Firstly I was working on another X-Ray and Vav picture, since I was really inspired by the positive feedback I was getting, but I just wasn’t quite happy with how it looked (it was okay, but just didn’t feel right).
Secondly after that I started working on an idea for a drawing I’ve wanted to do for a long time, in fact several years, but it’s a fairly ambitious piece. Basically what I want to do is a drawing of the 6 different Chinese Lions that are based on people/characters from the Three Kingdoms Period/Romance of The Three Kingdoms along with the human versions of the people/characters they represent. Since I want to get it right this has actually required a fair bit of research and I’m basically concepting the characters in a similar way to how I would for a game or animation. So this is something that will probably take a while but its something I’m super excited about and some people I know are really interested in it too (my Sifu who actually works as a Graphic Designer said he was inspired to start working on something similar that he had been planning on for a while after seeing some of my progress, which was really awesome for me to hear) The thing that’s really become a problem for me, and has actually halted the progress of the project I mentioned is that my Wacom tablet, which is quite old now and hasn’t always been looked after properly, is starting to play up. It still works but it regularly disconnects from my computer, which is a problem that has been getting worse over time to the point where now it barely stays connected for a second before I have to adjust it, so I’m looking at replacing it. So because of that I haven’t been able to work on full pieces of art, however I might try and post sketches I do traditionally and on my phone while I wait for a new tablet. Finally, I’ve considered working for commissions, and I think I’ve gotten to the point where I would be fairly comfortable doing that except that I don’t know that there is much of an audience for my work at the moment, and even if there was with my tablet the way it is I really wouldn’t be able to work on them anyway.
