going into the forest to play experimental industrial music at the lyrebirds so they learn how to make those sorts of noises and then showing the lyrebird noises to experimental industrial musicians so they learn how to mimic lyrebird mimicking them and then showing that to the lyrebirds and so on because well basically why not
"get him pregnant" well thats not my thing but to each their own
"get her pregnant" *takes up my sword and shield* i wont let you do that to her. ......................
Not to be a bitch but sometimes people engage with fiction in the most boring way possible, and nowhere is this clearer than in videogames. Like what you mean you hate a character just because they were kind of abrasive when speaking to the player character? "They were mean to me" and it didn't occur to you to wonder why? Like, what might their attitude toward you reveal about the world? About the social dynamics within it? About their own perspectives and backgrounds and personalities? Does it even occur you to ask? Would you only have liked them if they bowed to your presence and talked about how great you are? Like I'm sorry but you're so boring. How boring fiction would be if it cathered to you
When a small mammal scrunches up and cleans its face and whiskers with its little hands very rapidly. I just wanted to give you that thought for a moment did u like it.
5 pm thought: he's gay lol
11 pm thought: unfortunately the sad but logical reality is that he is straight and just kind of a weird freak and also a misogynist but it's still beautiful how romantic his obsession with his best friend is and how its psychosexual nature haunts all his creative work
2 am thought: he's gay and he wants to fuck men and i know this for a fact. and also a misogynist
There is no greater bond on this earth than when you all despise and carry untold righteous anger about one person and then when you’re all together someone is like “so about that dead horse” and everyone starts sounding like Michael Jackson with the way they’re chanting beat it

i’m going to be really honest with you guys i think the tendency to read the absolute worst possible intentions into every action you don’t agree with is getting too automatic and it’s eating you from the inside out
I have to defend overhated women characters with my life this isn’t a game to me anymore dog I’m so serious

please wear sunscreen!!! I've seen "fuck the beauty industrial complex" posts about complicated skincare regimens and am 100% with them except sometimes they mention sunscreen and no. no. absolutely not. sunscreen is a wonderful supportive friend who wants to keep you safe, and you should let her do it. throw out all your other cosmetics and skincare products if you want, but keep your sunscreen. and if you're not wearing sunscreen, start wearing it!!!! this is not about terror of aging, this is not about every tiny imperfection our fucked-up culture has made you feel insecure about, this is about protecting yourself from skin cancer. wear the damn sunscreen.
being a kid and hearing adults say stuff like "woah 2011 was 4 years ago haha" didn't really convey the fucking horror of a youtube video crossing my recommended labelled "9 years ago" and it's from 2017. that's not true. 9 years ago is 2010 or something. don't lie.
Occasionally I see people(1) in the comments of posts(2) saying that if people are misunderstanding the OP(3), that must mean the post(4) was poorly phrased. But(5) it is nearly(6) impossible to phrase anything in a way that 100% of the audience(7) will understand(8). If most(9) responses indicate they understand the OP(3), the phrasing is probably(6) not the issue. At a certain point, you(10) have to learn to stop and consider whether your(10) first interpretation is the only or most reasonable interpretation. Trying to spell out(11) anything that anyone could possibly misunderstand quickly becomes unwieldy(12)

(1) By "people" I mean a variety of individuals from a variety of demographics. Some of these individuals may actually be bots, but I am working under the assumption that most individuals responding on Tumblr are human beings
(2) "Posts" can refer to text (or other media) posted on a variety of websites, but the fact that this commentary is being made on Tumblr implies that without additional qualifiers, "posts" refers primarily to Tumblr posts
(3) "Original Poster," used online to refer to the individual who started an individual post, thread, etc.
(4) The phrase "the post" now serves as a stand in for posts the OP(3) (in this case me) has seen where a person(1) has made the sort of commentary described here
(5) While not strictly grammatically correct, starting a sentence with "and" or "but" for emphasis is a common rhetorical flourish
(6) Note the qualifier
(7) See (1)
(8) "Understand" here means "interpret in the way the OP(3) intended"
(9) A hard number is not given here because there is no strict threshold, and there are many circumstances where fault is not cleanly divisible between OP(3) and the confused commenter(7)
(10) A general "you" is often used in informal writing as an equivalent of the pronoun "one" and does not address the reader as an individual, because it is not written with a specific individual in mind
(11) Metaphorically referring to explaining something in detail, not literal spelling of words
(12) See (1)-(12)
