@nemilyl
When my mom dies, I am going to let myself die.
I don’t think I like anyone anymore
And I’m starting not to want what I wanted
I’m starting not to...
Not to anything
There’s no one to talk to
Just a void to scream oneself hoarse to
I don’t know
I think I’m sad
Or
Something
I
Don’t
Did I have the answer all along?
Was it death?
Don’t Look
I would only speak where no one is listening
Let my words be swallowed up by the void
Crushing, oppressing, silencing
Where no one hears, where no one would care
And I could just fade
I am
I am fading
What words could matter
Coming from nothing
Going to nothing
I’m running out of tethers to this world
I sit alone with news and memory
I’ve forgotten life any other way
And yet
I am so very tired

Thoughts on Starkid's Black Friday
Thoughts on Starkid’s Black Friday
The new Starkid musical has hit the internet, and I have some feelings. In fact I have many feelings. My jaw was on the floor for a good ten minutes after that ending (that ending, though). I laughed. I cried. I screeched with joy. And then I didn’t really have anyone to talk to about it, so I’m going to scream into the ether instead.
This is the second Starkid show in the Hatchetfield universe,…

JDP's Hairspray Fun and Relevant
JDP’s Hairspray Fun and Relevant
From left to right: Daniel Andrade as Seaweed, Reagan Nedder as Penny, Ty DaSilva as Link Larkin and Sabrina Costa as Tracy Turnblad
Not every show can be fun and tackle important and hard-to-sugarcoat issues at the same time, but JDP Theatre Co. seems to have cornered the market on them, first with Legally Blonde earlier this year and now with Hairspray. Underneath all the glitter, dazzling…

Guns and Ships/History Has Its Eyes on You Hunger Games Parody
Right, this is weirder
I wrote this a few weeks ago, but now that the prequel’s been announced, it became more appropriate, “Why We Build the Wall” style (that’s a Hadestown reference to show I’m hip with the kids)

Theatre Bucket List
Lately, I’ve been rekindling my love of Starkid, in the wake of The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals and now the announcement of upcoming projects. Which got me thinking. One day, I would love to see a Starkid show live and in person. I mean, despite the distinct disadvantage of being Nowhere Near their current locale. So starting with this, here is my theatre-related bucket list, as a fan and as a…

Come From Away: Broadway's Oft-Forgotten Gem
Come From Away: Broadway’s Oft-Forgotten Gem
Somewhere between the mega-smash hit musicals Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen, a small, ensemble piece took up residence at the Schoenfeld Theater. And with about a 90-minute run time with no intermission, a small on-stage band, a set of essentially a few chairs and a bar, and a smorgasbord ensemble with members of all different ages, shapes, sizes, etc., it truly was a small show in the shadow of…

Broadway Sorting Hat: Disney Edition
Broadway Sorting Hat: Disney Edition
Let’s get down to business! To sort! Some characters! Today, we’re doing a Disney Broadway sorting extravaganza, with characters from multiple Disney musicals that have at some point been on Broadway. So glad I started with a Mulan reference then… This will include a smattering of protagonists, antagonists, and comedic sidekicks maybe – whoever I find interesting to sort.
If your favorites are…

new covers
New book(s)
So it’s been a busy few months. And I’ve been keeping mostly to myself. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and I’ve been doing a lot of writing– and most of all, I’ve been doing a lot of editing. It’s hard to know when to stop, when something is “done”– or as “done” as it’s going to be. There comes a point where you have to cut yourself off and step back. So I’ve cut myself off and I’ve stepped back, and luckily enough, I like what I’ve seen. I’m proud to unveil the second edition of Making Stupid Work, corrected for all the issues in the first, with added content, a few fun new illustrations, and of course an admittedly teen-romance-y new cover. https://www.amazon.com/dp/1983349003 More than that, though, I’m proud to unveil the first edition of the sequel; Consistency. https://www.amazon.com/dp/1717738966 Enjoy!
(Note that at the moment, these books are only available in paperback. I’m hoping to come out with the ebooks in the next few weeks or so, schedule dependng)
Is anyone out there?
