Chenle couldnβt believe his eyes.
From one end to another, the table was filled with food.
Stacks of blueberry pancakes were drowning in maple syrup, freshly cut cubes of Chenleβs favorite fruit shone in the morning sunlight, and steam dances from the hot coffee in his mug into the air.
βGood morning!β you call out cheerily, busy flipping an omelette over in your frying pan.
Chenleβs jaw drops.
βYou... cooked all this?β your boyfriend asks in shock, shuffling his way over to you. You hum in response, smiling as you picked up a plate.
βThought I couldnβt do this, huh? Well, you were wrong.β you boast, plating up the omelette, which was still sizzling with hot melted butter.
Chenle couldnβt help but smile at how proud you were, standing back to give you space to move around.
βOkay, I admit it then.β Chenle laughs, leaning against the kitchen counter. βMaybe you can cook after all.β
You grin proudly, waving your frying pan around in victory. Youβre just about to shout aΒ βTold you so!βΒ , but the pan goes flying out of your grasp and into the air.
And of course, with your brain being⦠your brain, you reach out to grab the pan with your bare hands.
The moment the hot metal comes in contact with your hands, you shriek, dropping it noisily to the floor. You wince as tears spring to your eyes, the pain spiking at your skin.
Chenle rushes to your side, quickly pulling you over to the sink. Cold water rushes from the tap as he keeps your hands under it, moving back and forth so it could cool down.
βAre you okay? Why would you do that?β he asks in disbelief, concern heavy in his tone. βI donβt know!β you blubbered, tears now streaming down your cheeks.
Chenleβs heart ached to see you crying, and he reaches up with his free hand to rub your shoulder. βItβs alright, the cold water should help. And Iβll get you some medicine after this, okay?β he says.
You nod, sniffling.
Eventually the pain stops, flowing away like the water swirling down the drain. Chenle turns the tap off and moves to sit you down by the table.
βWhy were you so careless?β he sighs, squatting down to observe your red hands. Thankfully, the burn was nothing serious, but it was definitely going to be tender for at least a day or two.
βSorry.β you mumble, embarrassed.
Chenle makes a clicking sound with his tongue, taking burn cream out of the first-aid kit you had.
βWhat are you sorry for? Accidents happen. Donβt worry about it, okay? Itβll recover by tomorrow, Iβm sure.β he assures you.
Heβs gentle with you as he squeezes the cream onto your palms, carefully applying it over the burnt areas.
βThere.β he says, dabbing the rest of the cream away with a tissue. βAll done.β
Chenle finishes his sentence with a soft kiss to your hand, warmth spreading into your chest.
βFeeling better?β he asks, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear. You nod, smiling softly.
Thank God you had your angel of a boyfriend.
βAlright then," he begins, a mischievous smile dawning on his face. "Time to devour my feast!β he announces dramatically, standing up straight.
βHey, but I wonβt be able to pick up my spoon!β you complained. βYou have to feed me.β
Chenle bursts out laughing, planting his hands on his hips. βWhat, are you my baby now?β
You gasp dramatically, pretending to clutch at your 'broken' heart. βHave I not always been your baby?β you question.
The brown haired boy continues laughing as he slides into the seat beside you. βAlright, alright.β he giggles, picking up your spoon. βI got you.β
Itβs now your turn to laugh as you watch him struggle to cut a bite-sized piece of a pancake for you, determination pulling his brows together.
βOh, youβre an idiot.β you smile, leaning on his shoulder and looking at him.
Chenle looks back at you and he smiles too, bright and full of love.

"Coming through!" Johnny dramatically bellows down the halls, using his arm to swat anyone out of his way. "Injured individual making his way to Biology, get out of the way!"
Mark's face flushes bright red at his brother's antics, groaning as he kept his eyes on the ground. "Dude, will you stop it? I can walk through the crowd myself." he mumbles.
It's not like Mark can't walk either; it was just a broken arm from a nasty skateboard fall last week. Which was mainly Johnny's idea - he somehow persuaded Mark to attempt an ollie on the staircases.
Keyword: attempt.
"Yeah, yeah," Johnny huffs, stopping as they arrived outside Mark's classroom. "That's what you're saying now, and you'd go home and whine to Mom later about how I didn't 'take care of you like an elder brother should'."
The younger is about to protest but Johnny rolls his eyes, opening the classroom door and lightly pushing Mark in.
"Just be careful. Don't blow anything up, see you at lunch!"
And with that, Johnny speeds off to his own class, a blurry figure rapidly sprinting down the halls.
"Bye!" Mark calls, waving stiffly with his left hand.
"Oh my God Mark, what happened?"
You're facing the Canadian with wide eyes of surprise and concern when he turns around, jaw dropped.
"Fell down the stairs on my skateboard last week." he sighs, clambering onto the high stools of the Biology classroom. "I landed on my elbow, and I broke the bone all the way till here."
Your gaze follows his finger's motion, jaw dropping at the horrifying image of your best friend breaking almost his entire arm. "Did it hurt? Did you sit in an ambulance? Did the doctors give you any candy?"
Mark scoffs, awkwardly moving his casted arm. "We're twelve, Y/N. Big girls and boys don't get candy anymore."
You hum in realization, but Mark leans in to whisper after a while.
"The X-ray machine was kinda scary though," he whispers, looking left and right suspiciously, not wanting anyone to overhear. "Looked like a gigantic door handle."
You grimace at this, staring weirdly at Mark. "So they used a door handle to take your X-ray?"
"What? No!"
Mark facepalms, shaking his head. "Didn't you say you wanted to be a nurse when you grow up?" he asks suspiciously, frowning at you. " Kinda stupid of you to think that doctors use door handles to take X-rays."
You gasp dramatically at his words, squinting at him. "You were the one who said it looked like a door handle!" You retort, waving your pencil around as if it'd prove your point.
Mark scoffs at this, swatting your pencil out of his face. "I said it looked like a door handle, I never said it was a door handle. Basic English, Y/N."
A slight flame begins to burn in both of your glares, angsty puberty hormones starting to set into action.
"Oh yeah? Well I'm not the one who failed Engli-"
"Mark and Y/N! Stop talking or I'll make you stand outside!"
The sudden boom of your Biology teacher, Mr. Kim, prompts the two of you to immediately shut up, back to sitting as still as statues.
He glowers at the two of you for a moment before turning back towards the whiteboard, starting to explain about the day's topic.
"Sorry for calling you stupid." Mark mumbles quietly after a few awkward minutes pass by, softly nudging your arm. "I didn't mean it."
"I'm sorry for getting mad." you reply guiltily, patting his casted one in return.
"Wanna sign my cast after class?"
Your eyes light up with excitement and you nod readily. "Sure! Can I draw a star? How about a flower? Ooh, or maybe a-"
"Mark and Y/N, outside right now!"

You nod quickly in response and sprint off towards the said ward.
Having worked as a full-time emergency department nurse for the past year, broken arms had become the ordinary for you.

You freeze in surprise when you tug the curtains open to see the all-too-familiar figure laying there, another nurse already working over his limp arm.
His head of curly, black hair turns to face the door, eyes wide like saucers the moment he sees you.
"Y/N?" he squeaks.
Your mouth dries up as your brain tries to calculate how long it's been since you've seen him, the start of him moving out of Canada for college slowly dragging your friendship apart till it seemingly no longer existed.
And now he's right back here in front of you, almost exactly the same as he was when he left.
"Mark? What are you doing here?" you mumble, stunned.
He chuckles dryly at this, jerking his head towards the direction of his arm. "I think you already know."
The nurse working over his arm sighs, shaking her head as the last roll of bandage wraps around his cast.
"Is he your friend? You need to tell him to be more careful," she scolds as she ticks something off a chart. "This is the third time I've seen him in here!"
Mark can only smile guiltily in admittance as the nurse leaves the ward, mentioning to you how a quick debrief on what to do with his injury will be enough to dismiss him.
"So," he starts, sitting up. "Long time no see! How have you been?"
"I need to tell you about your broken arm first." you interrupted sheepishly, holding up his X-ray. "Let's see. You've broken your ulna from here to her-"
Now it's Mark's turn to interrupt you as he gently pushes his X-ray away.
"Y/N, I've broken my arm like, over ten times. I know the drill." he insists. "How have you been?"
Looking right into his eyes, the countless years of lost contact and drifting friendship does nothing to your memory. His eyes were just as wide and sparkly as they were when you were kids, and his hair was still as dark as his bedroom when you slept over and exchanged secrets in whispered giggles.
"Hello? Earth to Y/N? How have you been?"
His question snaps you out of your thoughts, and the boyish glint in his intense gaze makes your heart skip a beat.
It doesn't help that your stupid little crush on him comes rushing back too, and you can only hope Mark doesn't notice the way your face starts to flush red.
"Well... I missed you." you started, voice trailing off as you avoided eye contact. "It's been years."
"What happened to your promises of calling and keeping in touch?" you asked quietly. A dull pain starts to settle in your heart as it recalls the days where light blended into darkness, and darkness blended into light while Mark was thousands of miles away.
Mark winces at your question, awkwardly scratching his head. "Well, can I be honest?" he mumbles, now focused on picking on a loose thread off his T-shirt.
Your head shoots up, nervous and excited to hear what's been holding your childhood best friend from keeping in touch the moment he stepped foot out of your home country.
"Yeah, be as honest as you want to."
Mark nods, taking in a big breath as you notice the tip of his ears turning red.
"Well, I really liked you." he admits, grinning sheepishly as he kept his gaze glued to the floor.
"And when I left Canada, I wasn't sure if I'd ever be back on a long-term basis, so I decided to just give up on you. I didn't want to act on an impulse and end up hurting the both of us."
You blink in surprise, the truth bringing a sense of relief and yet a slight sting of pain.
"But don't you think that completely not talking to me would hurt me too?" you suggested. "I really, really, really missed you Mark."
The shift in your tone prompts him to look up at you, his eyes glazing over when he notices your pink ones. He reaches out for your hands, and it takes you right back to the past.
"I'm sorry. I just didn't know what to do with my feelings." he mumbled, eyes earnestly looking at you.
"Well, for the record, I liked you too, you know." you sniffled, brushing away a tear.
Mark sits up straight. "You did...?" he questions in disbelief.
You hummed in reply.
It was never anything serious, but Mark had your entire heart in the palm of his hands for those few years. You still remembered the times where his bright smile and soothing voice was all you could think about, squealing happily in your bedroom after each time you hung out together.
You bask in the bitter sweetness of the memories until Mark gets your attention.
"Well, how about now?"
"Now?" you echoed in disbelief.
Mark nods, doe eyes wide and staring into you so deeply that you squirmed shyly.
"I uh- I..." you sputtered, aware of the warmth rushing to your cheeks.
"We can get to know each other again first." he suggests. "What time does your shift end?"
You take a quick glance at your watch, glad for the break from Mark's intense eye contact.
"My shift ends in two hours. Maybe we can meet again some other day? I think you need to get some rest."
Mark shakes his head. "I'm fine! Don't worry about it." he breezes. "How about pizza after your shift? I can come pick you up."
You chuckle at his idea, gently nudging his casted arm.
"With this bad boy on your arm? I don't think you'll be able to do any driving for a while, Mark."
Stubbornly, Mark continues. "Then can I have your number? We can plan a date."
The word 'date' sends adrenaline rushing up to your mind, and your heart races as you fumble for your phone in your pocket.
"Wait, can you just write it down for me?" Mark interrupts.
"Sure." you agree, trying to play it cool as you pull out a marker from a nearby drawer.
You were expecting a piece of paper or whatnot, but Mark sticks out his casted arm instead.
"Huh?" you mumble, confused.
"Your number." he says casually. "Write it on my cast."
The scratch of the marker against the white bandage fills up the silence of the room as you do so, unlocking another core memory as you recall doing the same thing ten years ago at school.
"Remember when you signed my cast in sixth grade?" Mark chuckles, as if he had read your mind. "Kinda funny to see us doing the same thing ten years later."
You smile at his words, warmth blooming in your heart at the memory.
Maybe things will work out with Mark, even after all these years.

But the smile on Jeno freezes, and you feel him tense below you.

Your heart drops to your feet and guilt crashes over you when it pops into mind - Jeno had specifically asked you not to tell him the gender of your baby till they were born, wanting it to be a surprise.
"Oh God, I am so sorry." you rambled nervously, sitting up to face him with wide, panicked eyes.
Jeno doesn't respond, eyes wide like yours but glossing over as he keeps his stare trained to the floor. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to ruin the surprise for you." you continue. "I found out only a few weeks ago and I really didn't mean to tell you, it just slipped out, and I-"
"We're going to have a daughter." Jeno interrupts, and you watch a single tear roll down his face.
"We're going to have a daughter!" he repeats, this time in awe and overwhelming emotion as tears start to freely stream down his cheeks, the unmistakable grin of pure joy and delight on his lips.
"Yeah, we are!" you laughed lightly, tears beginning to well up in your own eyes.
"I'm so happy." Jeno sniffles, wiping away his tears and snot before reaching out to you for a hug.
You wrap your arms around his neck as his rest around your waist, and you can feel how happy he is with the speed his heart is thudding against yours.
"I'm going to have my own little princess with my lovely queen." he giggles, kissing you sweetly on the lips.
You laugh at him, returning the kiss before leaning your forehead against his.
"I love you." you whisper.
"I love you too."
"And rest assured," Jeno adds, moving to rub your baby bump softly. "Our daughter will definitely be cuter than Lily."
You cock your head to the side, a confused smile on your lips. "How sure are you?"
"Because cute parents make cute babies." Jeno brags, like it was the most common fact ever.

Mark loved Christmas, and who wouldn't?
Store after store decorated with the most beautiful displays ever, children laughing and running around everywhere, a cheerful and loving spirit within everyone.
But as pretty as the stores you walked by were, you couldn't really bother to care.
Instead, you were busy worrying for Mark's fluffy beanie as the wind blew against the two of you, almost as if wanting to take the designer product away from him.
"The wind's gonna blow your beanie away!" you said worriedly, tugging it down a bit too hard.
"Hey!" Mark splutters, giggling as the beanie now covers his eyes. "How am I supposed to see?" he asks cutely as you profusely apologize, quick to fix it for him.
"Sorry." you repeat, offering a sheepish grin.
The Canadian merely chuckles, pressing a quick kiss to your cold cheek. "It's fine, don't worry."
But the words have barely left his lips when he gasps dramatically, eyes wide.
"What?" you questioned, confused at your boyfriend's sudden actions.
"It's too cold, and my mouth is numb!" he rambles panickily, widened eyes looking left and right as if to look for something.
He turns back to you, and it seems like he's found the solution to his problem with the way his eyes light up.
"Kiss me!" he concludes, urgently tugging on the sleeve of your coat.
It's comical, and you feel like you're in a 90s rom-com; the handsome main character panickily asking you, the side character to kiss him in the middle of a crowded street on Christmas Eve.
Nevertheless, you do just so, wrapping your arm around Mark's waist to pull him close.
His chapped lips are barely cold and numb, feeling warm and plush against yours.
"Better now?" you asked, concerned yet slightly amused as you pull away.
The crimson blush on Markβs cheeks is an obvious answer, but he still pretends to think.
"I think I need another kiss. Like, a much longer one." He concludes cheekily.
You chuckle, standing even closer so the two of your foreheads touched, and Mark can feel your hot breath against his lips.
"Like this?"
With that, you connect your lips again, this time kissing him till butterflies in his stomach fluttered to life.
"O-Okay, okay, that's enough! Let's go home, quick." Mark mumbles, crimson blush replaced with the shade of a tomato as he begins to run, dragging you after him in hand.
You canβt help the laugh that escapes you, running after him. Knowing your boyfriend like the back of your hand, you easily knew what was going on with him. βWhy?β you tease. βDid the kiss turn you o-β
βLetβs just go home.β Mark interrupts, clapping a hand over your lips.

You smile at this, swallowing your last chew of another Oreo Jeno had just fed you. "Her name's Lily!" you say. "She's really cute, isn't she? I hope our daughter is as cute as her."
The image of having your very own little, more adorable, Lily makes you giggle, even more excited to meet your daughter when the time for her to meet the big world finally arrives.
But the smile on Jeno freezes, and you feel him tense below you.
"What do you mean... daughter?"
Your heart drops to your feet and guilt crashes over you when it pops into mind - Jeno had specifically asked you not to tell him the gender of your baby till they were born, wanting it to be a surprise.
"Oh God, I am so sorry." you rambled nervously, sitting up to face him with wide, panicked eyes.
Jeno doesn't respond, eyes wide like yours but glossing over as he keeps his stare trained to the floor. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to ruin the surprise for you." you continue. "I found out only a few weeks ago and I really didn't mean to tell you, it just slipped out, and I-"
"We're going to have a daughter." Jeno interrupts, and you watch a single tear roll down his face.
"We're going to have a daughter!" he repeats, this time in awe and overwhelming emotion as tears start to freely stream down his cheeks, the unmistakable grin of pure joy and delight on his lips.
"Yeah, we are!" you laughed lightly, tears beginning to well up in your own eyes.
"I'm so happy." Jeno sniffles, wiping away his tears and snot before reaching out to you for a hug.
You wrap your arms around his neck as his rest around your waist, and you can feel how happy he is with the speed his heart is thudding against yours.
"I'm going to have my own little princess with my lovely queen." he giggles, kissing you sweetly on the lips.
You laugh at him, returning the kiss before leaning your forehead against his.
"I love you." you whisper.
"I love you too."
"And rest assured," Jeno adds, moving to rub your baby bump softly. "Our daughter will definitely be cuter than Lily."
You cock your head to the side, a confused smile on your lips. "How sure are you?"
"Because cute parents make cute babies." Jeno brags, like it was the most common fact ever.
He leans in to kiss you again, this time with more passion and love than the previous one.

You stifle a yawn as you sit up straight, barely listening to what Renjun, your classmate, is saying.
It's not like you didn't want to listen to him - you just couldn't.
English class has never been this boring, but it was just so for today. Perhaps it was because it was Friday, the weekend so close and yet so far.
Everyone else seems to be fine though, working away diligently in assigned pairs on a worksheet your teacher had just given out.
Mark is writing furiously on his worksheet while Haechan rambles answers, Chenle busy folding his own worksheet into a paper airplane while a confused Jisung tries to copy him, and Jaemin is reading his textbook while Jeno looks at you.
Wait.
Jeno's looking at you?
You momentarily freeze, a million thoughts racing through your mind as you lock eye contact with the blue-haired boy.
Maybe he was looking at someone behind you?
The wall is the only thing that greets you when you turn around to check, and your cheeks immediately flush red when you realize that he is looking at you.
Now, no one knows this, but you've recently developed a crush on Jeno.
It's the way his hair falls prettily over his sparkly eyes that gets your heart skipping a beat faster, as well as the way he adorably talks in pout when he gets excited.
Jeno always catches your eye wherever he goes too, be it coincidentally passing by each other down the corridors or when he just happens to be lining up in front of you during lunch at the cafeteria.
All of that is enough to make your heart race and face involuntarily tug up in a smile, but now?
With him looking right at you, maintaining heart fluttering eye contact across the room?
You panic.
Do you look away? Do you keep the eye contact? Do you pretend like you didn't notice it? Do you look at the floor? Do you look at the ceiling?
"Should we include point two in our summary?"
Renjun's question snaps you out of it, and you're grateful for the excuse it provides for you to break the eye contact.
"Y-Yeah, I think point two is fine." you stutter, face flushed as you tried to act cool.
Renjun hums in response and scribbles something down on his worksheet, and you fight the curious urge to see if Jeno is still looking at you.
Which he probably wasn't.
In fact, he probably was looking at the wall earlier.
Or zoning out in your direction.
It seemed impossible that he'd be looking at you.
Or was it?
A quick peek answers your burning question, and this time he smiles at you, eyes creasing up into the little crescent moons that you loved to see every day.
"Oh my God." you mumble, physically feeling your heart beat faster as you quickly jerk your head back down to your worksheet. "Are you okay?" Renjun asks concernedly, frowning.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. Just uh - stepped on my own foot." you lie blatantly.
It's obvious Renjun doesn't buy it, raising an eyebrow at you in confusion.
He's about to question you further about it till your teacher interrupts, clapping her hands twice. "Alright, class's over! Thank you, you're dismissed." she calls.
Immediately, everyone makes a beeline for the door, and you scramble to get your things too. The last thing you needed was to be late for your next cla-
"Woah!"
You flinch and let out a surprised gasp when you almost get run into by someone, and you glance up to see it's... Jeno?
"I'm so sorry! Are you okay?" he asks worriedly.
"I'm fine, yeah, I'm fine, don't worry, nothing to worry about here!" you ramble, flustered at how close the two of you were.
But the breath is taken out of you as you note how much more prettier he is up close - the usual boyish glint in his eyes now like the countless stars of the galaxy.
"Okay, that's good." Jeno chuckles. "Well, see you Monday then!" he chirps, softly nudging your arm.
With that, he leaves the classroom and into the bustle of the crowd and the swarming hallways.
Yet the feeling of his fluffy, sweater-clad arm against yours remains, burning right through the fabric of your jacket and onto your skin, leaving a tingly, electrical rush coursing through your body.
Truly, only Jeno could make you feel this way, and you couldn't wait to see him again - next Monday.

Thanks to a sudden blackout that was unexpected but not unwelcomed, your apartment was completely pitch black.
Which probably explains why it's taking Mark such a long time to get to your shared bedroom.
"Markie? Hurry up, I'm waiting!" you called out impatiently, fingers tapping against the top of your battery-run radio.
You head your boyfriend huff loudly, stumbling over something and almost tripping.
"I hope you know that it's very difficult to walk through the dark without glasses and bad eyesight." he complains.
"Can't relate," you tease as you finally hear him enter the room and walk up to you. "I didn't stay up secretly reading Harry Potter under the blankets as a child."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say." he deadpans, chuckling.
Reciprocating his laugh, you peck his cheek before running your fingers over the front of your radio, each button and its function long burned into your memory out of familiarity.
"I'll play a Bruno Major CD, is that okay?" you asked, fiddling with the radio as you tried to load the disk.
Mark offers a hum in response, arms wrapping around your waist from the back as he rests his head on your shoulder. He's squinting as he tries to figure out what you were doing through his blurry vision.
"You know, you sound really excited to dance in the dark for someone who's usually scared of it." Mark notes, recalling how you would get really quiet and clingy in the dark.
"Oh, I'm not scared of the dark anymore," you laughed airily, dismissing his note with a wave of your hand. The other one hits the 'Play' button on the radio.
Almost immediately, 'Nothing' starts to play, scratchy intro of the heart-swelling song filling up your dark apartment.
"Really? That's not what you were saying last week during the thunderstorm though." he teases.
"That was different." you retort, scoffing. "Thunder was involved, and I'm still scared of that."
Mark can only laugh at how adorably stubborn you are when it comes to admitting your fears, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
The feeling of his soft lips against your skin makes you smile, melting into Mark's embrace.
And you wonder if he knows that he's the reason you weren't scared of the dark anymore, and you were sure that you'd get over your fear of thunder soon with him around.
The tight hugs in bed while he rubbed your back and reminded you that there was nothing to be scared of, the warmth of his hands in yours as he pressed small kisses to your knuckles and whispered funny stories to distract you, everything.
Little by little, Mark had totally transformed your fear of the dark into nothing but trust, calmness, and an endless love to be with him all night.
He colored you warm - even your surroundings - and you no longer were the frail, gray canvas you were, brave yellows and peaceful blues replacing them instead.
"And besides," you whisper, wrapping your arms around Mark's waist.
"You're the light of my dark world, so even when the night comes, I'm not afraid."

Which, in all honesty, is rather surprising from how clingy and touchy he can get with you in the privacy of your apartment.

Jaemin stifles a yawn as he gingerly locks the front door behind him, stepping out of his shiny black Oxfords.
The only thing that welcomes his return is the soft chatter of dialogue from the television in the softly lit living room.
Weird.
Jaemin checks the time on his watch; it was already past one in the morning.
With you usually in bed with your newborn daughter by this time, worry and confusion floods the busy surgeon as he tiptoes into the living room to investigate.
There, Jaemin is met with a sight that touches his heart in both the best and the worst ways ever.
Sleeping soundly in your arms is your daughter, her small head resting safely on your shoulder while her tiny body stays warm in an adorable pink onesie, complete with a soft blanket draped over her. There's a slight smile on her lips as she occasionally shifts, still adjusting to living life as a human out of the womb.
You were sleeping soundly too, but guilt weighs down on Jaemin when he sees how worn out you are. Dark eyebags hanging below your shut eyes, head tiredly lolled back on the sofa, and your arms most likely sore from all the carrying you've done today.
"Hey." he whispers, pressing a soft kiss to your head as he crouches down by the sofa. "I'll put her into the bassinet. Wait here for me, okay?"
Too tired to properly greet your husband nor reply him, you merely nod in sleepiness.
Gently, Jaemin lifts your daughter out of your arms into his, staying still to make sure she doesn't get startled by the sudden movement.
The overwhelming rush of love and emotions Jaemin felt as a new dad washes all over him again as he looks down at your daughter, and he can't help but grin from ear to ear in pure pride and joy as he walks towards the bedroom.
"Goodnight, my little princess. I love you so much." Jaemin whispers as he slowly lays your daughter down, a small kiss pressed to her tiny hand.
The moment she's settled down, he's already running back to the living room to you.
"You're doing such a good job as a mom." he gushes once he got back to you, hugging you tightly in his arms.
"I'm so sorry I can't be here to help out more, I'm still waiting for the hospital to find someone to replace me so I can stay here with you. I love you so much, you're doing so good, I'm so proud of you. The best mom and the best wife in the world, I love you, I love you." Jaemin repeats hurriedly as he kisses you on your cheeks.
Still half-asleep, you chuckle at his affectionate ramble. "Someone's cheesy today." you joke, sitting up to kiss him back. "I love you too."
Jaemin's heart warms at your words, and he slips his hands into yours. "Do you want to go to bed now?"
You nod, letting Jaemin help you up and leaning on him as you made your way to the bedroom together.
"Remember when we walked down that beach on our eighth date? You leaned on me like this too." he recalls randomly, a small smile on his lips from the special memory.
That date remains as clear as day in your mind, the gorgeous colors Mother Nature used to paint the sunset that day softly illuminating Jaemin as he told you a random story, the way the sea breeze blew through his hair making your heart skip a beat faster and hold on to him just a bit tighter.
Fast forward two years, and here you were, hand in hand and shoulder against shoulder again, walking down a place perhaps not as beautiful as the beach but just as meaningful as that day.
"We did." you murmured. "And look at us now! Living our dream life, married in our own home and with our own daughter." you say in awe.
Jaemin smiles at this, squeezing your hand lightly.
"I'm glad it's you I'm living my dream life with."

Jaehyun hums in reply to your question, eyebrows furrowed together in a frown as he plants his hands on his hips.
The concentrated stare of his brown eyes run over the reflection of the broad shoulders of his suit to the bottom of the navy blue dress pants.
Something seemed to be off.
"Do you not like it?" you asked concernedly, fidgeting by his side.
It was your first time tailoring a suit for someone so personally involved in your life, that you couldn't help but worry.
Your voice pulls him out of his observation, facing you with a reassuring smile.
"I do like it. There's just something that doesn't seem right here." He mumbles, frowning as he goes back to observing himself, this time turning left and right in the mirror.
Was it the length of the suit? Maybe it was the big black jacket button. Or maybe - aha! Belt loops!
"I don't like these belt loops." Jaehyun whines, facing you again but this time with a pout. "They look like floating mini rubber bands."
You chuckle lightly at his discovery, crossing your arms together. "Don't you know why I added those belt loops?" you question.
Rather confused by your response, he slowly shakes his head no. You sigh, rolling your eyes lightheartedly.
"I added the belt loops so I could do this." you whisper teasingly, fingers threading through them and easily pulling him right into you.
He almost stumbles, but your firm grip on him through the belt loops keep him upright as he's pressed flush against your chest, faces so close that he could feel your hot breath fanning against his burning cheek.
"Now I can keep you close to me." you tease, grinning as you watched Jaehyun's face bloom red and his eyes widen in pleasant surprise.
