trigger warnings: neglect, cancer ( leukemia )
HEY, i think i just saw SÉVÉRINE D'AUREVALLE walking down the strip. stop by to catch up and you’ll learn the THIRTY-TWO YEAR OLD is working as an ON-CALL TRANSLATOR FOR THE WEISS FAMILY and lives in STARGAZER VILLAS. given they are CUNNING but OBSTREPEROUS, it’s likely that they ARE NOT a vampire. on the flipside, rumor has it that HE PAYS SOMEONE ANNUALLY TO COMMIT A RITUAL SACRIFICE AND DRINKS THE BLOOD, BELIEVING IT KEEPS HIM HEALTHY and it keeps them looking over their shoulder. i bet you can find them tearing up the dance floor to DULL BOY BY MUDVAYNE and you’ll know why they’re called THE NEON NOIR. ☾ .⭒˚ young matthew lillard. nonbinary man + he/him. demisexual + capricorn. worth noting, i'll be exclusively using content from ~1999-2004 when ville vallo was approximately late twenties.
brought into the world with a silver spoon in his mouth and not a moment of a mother's love in marseille, france, sévérine's father assumed the mindset that money could fix all problems, but it couldn't force his trophy wife to love their two children. once sev was old enough for his menacing antics to become a nuisance and he'd insist upon bothering her instead of the nanny, she'd had enough. she left home and did not look back. it was the last time the kids ever saw her
a lack of a mother aside, sev was delivered everything else on a silver platter that he could possibly want in the world. the d'aurevalles were built on old french money in the french provence, and his father had high hopes that when he would eventually pass away, the thriving business they'd kept for centuries would pass on to the eldest, sev's sister sylvaine. except sylvie went away. not with her mother, but to what his father told him was boarding school. she didn't return
in the coming years, sev's father remarried to the mother of a childhood friend he played with constantly. siah became a d'aurevalle, and the two were inseparable. where children usually fight and bicker, they were instigating trouble together to keep themselves entertained, largely raised by a nanny and schooled privately at prestigious institutions and some of the best tutors. nothing has changed. he's loyal to her to the end
though they rarely saw their father with this life of nepotism, it's not an issue. sévérine loves his father greatly. the man is perhaps one of the few rich people who knows how to love his children as much as he loves money. sev didn't have any issues with being sent further away when their father decided to put the siblings through university in america, with sev
attending university in america was a breeze for the youngest d'aurevalle. he considered himself a purebred of the family, as in, he was as intelligent as his father had hoped he would be. as disconcerting as his current presentation may be, he had an interest in being worldly. he double majored in linguistics and world history, rather than business, but he does know the ins and outs of his father's business enough
languages had always come easy for sev, so it was the easiest path he could see. after learning as many as his brain could possibly hold in balance with his schoolwork, he applied to jobs where he would enact as a legal translator for anyone who needed his services. he had plans to move into being a literary translator, at some point, as he honed his craft around
he was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of twenty-seven, which put his career in a standstill when he became too sick from the cancer and the chemotherapy to continue traveling for business. he was bound to his step sister's side when she insisted that he should stay with her and focus on his health. it was incredibly frustrating for someone who had spent his whole life as a bundle of energy to suddenly come up with none, on top of all the other horrible effects of these two factors
three long years passed, as well as a grueling amount of uncertainty for a cancer with a lesser chance of remission and long-term survival. but he saw it through, and when the cancer was gone, he got to ring the bell. sévérine suffered a few blips and anomalies and worries on the radar of his remission, but nothing that ultimately came to alarm
at present, he's back to his normal health, and his white blood cells, too, which means he has resumed his tactic of having virtually no sense of personal space as a youngest child and has chosen not to let the looming concerns bother him. at least, not outwardly
in the time he spent unable to work, he was able to excel further in languages he could already speak. he was able to create a portfolio of clients who seek out his work whenever they need to hire a translator, and he poses as one for the weiss family; most of his work is freelance now and his rates are not that cheap, but he is likely the best in vegas for how spongy he is
he doesn't take anything seriously, and he's actively a menace to society. the d'aurevalles are cousins (paternal) to the weiss family but he considers his family separate from their repute, thus he has a fake on-off relationship for the public benefit with meera chettiar-vitelli. the brother of his mother isn't someone he gives a fuck about.
the doors are not on the hinges with this one, because he really cares about virtually no one outside of his sister, and don't be fooled by his mall goth aesthetic. dude has dollar signs tattooed on his inner lip. if you can't find him doing whatever he feels like, he's fascinated with the drag racing scene after dark in las vegas, and he's voted most likely in the room to shoot a gun into the ceiling for no reason other than scare the shit out of everyone
