if i may: to begin with hannibal has no interest for morals or righteousness one way or another. morality is not something he has ever abided by, so he is in no way trying to be better than anyone in that regard because he just. does not care. he believes he is above that. in fact id argue he believes he is superior to everyone else because hes above that. now, in regards of why he actually might have killed that guy? who tf knows. maybe he bumped into him on the street & he didnt say sorry & that itself marked him for death lol. but i think he DID care about the birds. maybe he found them pretty to look at, maybe he enjoyed sitting nearby & closing his eyes & listening to them sing. no, of course he did not kill the politician for any environmentalist reason, he killed him because he destroyed something he liked & that made the world a more beautiful place & he didnt like that. he probably thought the parking lot was ugly too. hannibal is obsessed with beauty. he has built his life around it, & if he cant find it he will create it. he also didnt think there was anything wrong with the ortolans because him & will are built different but thats another post ive already rambled enough lol.

The leader of the scout group I help out at approached me out of hours while I was walking to work to tell me that people have been talking behind my back because I missed more sessions than I attended this term (on account of having Covid twice) and was like “We all show up when we’re sick because we take responsibility” and I felt really shitty and guilty and cried the whole workday then I got home and told my mum and she was like “So they want you to throw up on the kids? That’s dodgy. They don’t even pay you. Stop going” and a wave of serenity hit me like a bus

for me, it's not about moral righteousness, but more of a "powering through it will give me immense strength" kind of thing. showing up for my past self and not letting the work done by her previously go to waste is my sole reasoning.
