Happy Pride to everyone, including the husbands 🏳️‍🌈 It had been too long since I’d drawn them somewhat realistically

I had a really hard time with this sketch tbh, I think because Freddie’s face is kind of at a weird angle in the original picture, and the original isn’t the best quality, either. I tried. I actually drew Freddie too far from Jim and had to go in and cut and paste him closer lol but that’s the extent of my digital editing skills

🏳️‍🌈 Happy Pride Month 2023! 👑

Here's Freddie in all his splendour 💖 It's been a while since I wanted to draw him in his arrow jacket and this was the perfect occasion, also adding some extra colors to represent the rainbow flag! 🏳️‍🌈💜💖💕💜💖💕

Remember that Pride Month is the occasion to LEARN and get informed about what's happening in the world, to actively support LGBTQ+ associations and small businesses, to speak against homotransphobic and racist laws that threaten people because of their orientation, skin color and self-expression. LGBTQ+ lives are always in danger and during Pride month we want our voices to be heard and respected 🙏🏻💕💖

So, if you love Freddie, be always aware that you love a romantic gay Parsi boy who has always seeked stable love and comfort in a time where it was only a mirage for gay men, and always tried to be himself with pride.

I see Freddie on the right (the shortest, with a beard!), Brian kneeling, Roger in the middle and John on the left. And they all look so soft, ahhh, and

The one in the middle (d'Artagnan) is actually sitting on a throne!

I'm not sure if I would call this a Queen "fanart" but I think there's definitely inspiration from Brian and Roger especially, I do see a lot of Brian in the tallest one on the left more than John. The one with the big hat resembles Freddie a little as well, yes 🥰

Yeah, it's mostly that the one on the right and the one in the middle look *a lot* like Freddie and Roger to me. The other two I'm not totally sure. For some reason the face on the left made me think of John more than Brian, and also Brian was the only other Queen member who spent some time growing a beard, and the sitting person has a bit of a beard. Also, he's the one with the lute (guitar).

It's reminiscent of the Queen crest for me, too. The two dogs instead of the fairies, the arrangement of how they're standing. What do you think?

I love this - it has something in it slightly like kawaii fan art but also something of the same sensibility you see in the It’s A Hard Life video. I think it’s John, Roger, Freddie standing and Brian sitting with what looks like a theorbo.

Loving all the theories! More speculation (and comment discussion) here, but I agree that the shorter guy with the big hat seems a lot like Freddie, especially given he has darker hair, too.

Sorry just repeating my points and collecting my thoughts in a reblog ahah

I believe this sketch is from the early 70s given the style and that we don't have many drawings from the 80s.

The three musketeers are, from left to right, Brian (taller, with bigger and dark hair and a tiny mouth), Roger (obviously: blonde, big eyes and small mouth), Freddie (dark hair, sharp chiseled cheekbones and jawline, huge hat, a slightly parted mouth with theeth?). They're an already formed trio who know each other for a while.

John is D'Artagnan, sitting on the throne and guarded by the others. He has long hair and a large "pancake" thin mouth and holds a lute, a four strings instrument. He arrived last and we know the other three has been struck by his talent with bass and by his quiet personality and we know Freddie wanted to sort of "protect" him because he was younger.

The "rococo" style of the costumes and drawing reminds me a lot of their first photoshoot from 1973 and I know it's a stretch because we don't know when he made this drawing, but I think Freddie was pinning down ideas about a concept or something like that and the fact he chose this picture as cover of their first single makes my brain go brrrr and connect dots

Very fascinating discussions and interpretations, everyone! Just a little correction @eileen-crys it’s not rococo, but baroque costumes on the drawing😊Rococo  came into fashion in 18th century, but the Musketeers take place in the late 1620s. Sure, rococo is an extension of baroque, but the costumes here are more sturdier, with the knee high boots and the hat that by the end of the century, would be very much out of fashion.

My last piece for @frogerweek! I had to the ends of the earth in my mind as I worked on this piece, but I couldn’t figure out how to make that idea concrete. So, I went for something soft and subtle allowing Freddie and Roger to shine for themselves.
