Traditional weaknesses of Dracula:
1. It’s not merely blessed dirt that Dracula needs to rest or he could just use English cemetery soil. It has to be soil from his homeland, representing his original grave. It was a loophole to a rule that vampires have to return to their original grave to maintain their strength.
2. He cannot enter a home without an invitation.
3. He does not cast a reflection in a silver backed mirror (Unlike the movies this has nothing to do with cameras, or reflections in pools of water. It specifically had to do with glass mirrors and might be because of the silver backing). There are a number of theories as to why he doesn’t cast a reflection. Bu the way he DOES have a soul. The idea of vampires being soulless is a very new invention.
4. Herbal weaknesses: Not only is Dracula averted by garlic but wild roses (in the novel) are also a weakness of him. Only two media incarnations I know of acknowledge this. The 1990s Dracula: the Series. And Fright Night 2 (1988 version). Films have added other herbal weaknesses such as wolfsbane (which is poison to almost anything…) and hawthorne.
5. He is weaker by day and cannot shapeshift by day. At night time however Dracula can become a wolf, bat, or mist and summon thunder storms as well as now.
6. A vampire’s heart will stop beating and they will be pinned helpless if they are staked through the heart. This will not kill them but decapitation after this might work.
7. Symbols of faith if believed in will hurt him. My favorite theory as to why this works comes from the novels of Fred Saberhagen. Vampires are highly psychic creatures so if you believe strongly that something will hurt a vampire they will pick up on it psychosomatically and that is why if you truly believe something will hurt them it will.
8. Silver is a possible weakness. Until pop culture started to say “That’s only for werewolves” many films and books portrayed vampires as vulnerable to silver a swell. This does not specifically come up in the original Dracula novel but it is possible.
9. Obsessive tendencies. Vampires in Eastern European folklore have some obsessive compulsive quirks including inclinations for untying knotted ropes, counting seeds and grains (Particularly poppy seeds). And these obsessive quirks could slow down a vampire.
10. Some versions cannot cross running water but this is contrary to Dracula arriving in England. It may well be that he simply cannot cross it without help.
11. I’m pretty sure fire can kill him too so long as you burn him until nothing remains but ash. You try getting him to hold still that long though.
