Hear me out: After the war, Nesta isn’t consumed by grief and coping with alcohol, but she is instead consumed by death. Lady Death had had her first taste of her birthright, and now she craves another fix. Night after night, she seeks out some way to sate herself—either by causing death, witnessing it, or drowning out the thoughts in any tavern where she might just get a front row seat to it if a fight breaks out.

And Cassian, the Lord of Bloodshed, the greatest Illyrian killer since Enalius, a male who hears Death’s song clearer than most and heeds its call most fiercely, is the only one who can find her and help her overcome it or train her to satisfy Lady Death’s dark urges quietly.

and it all starts with cassian at nesta’s door begging her to leave her shitty apartment and come stay in the house of wind where he can keep an eye on her because bodies are piling up in your neighborhood and there hasn’t been a murder in velaris in two centuries sweetheart and no, feyre didn’t send him, you don’t even have to go to the river house, just pack a bag, a fresh victim was left in the alleyway outside your building last night

and nesta, obviously, slams the door in his face and tells him to fuck off before having a devastating breakdown because he’s going to catch her in the act, sooner or later

Whether it’s a gwynriel ending or not, i’m just happy we’ll be getting Gwyneth Berdara, after so many years of them saying she’s not important and just a side character and her and the valkyries stories are done, i just feel so vindicated right now 😭😭😭 also they really underestimated SJM’s love for the valkyries, i always knew she wasn’t done with them and especially after she said so many times they were inspired from her own friendgroup. But it’s also surreal that we’re getting two books of valkyries like i can’t believe this IM SO HAPPY

We talk a lot about all the different ways Nesta has been traumatized but I really don’t think “a fucking wolf took my sister and then everyone acted like it was fine/never happened and we were rich again” ever really gets the attention it deserves.

Like sorry but the way she handled that by saying ok well I musn’t draw attention to myself lest Elain’s marriage prospects be implicated. I suppose I’ll just try to go get my sister back and then if that doesn’t work well, the slow dissent into madness can begin. Hazzuh.
