Let me just get straight to the point since yall are getting on my last nerve:
Fire and Blood is a BIASED IN UNIVERSE HISTORICAL ACCOUNT OF THE DANCE OF THE DRAGONS. COMPARING IT TO THE TV SHOW IS STUPID. "Oh Alicent/Daemon/Rhaenyra/whoever the fuck is supposed to be like this cus in the book blah blah" SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU'RE FUCKING ANNOYING
Daemon is an asshole and a sociopath, and yall are shocked he choked Rhaenyra out of frustration? The guy who mercilessly killed his 1st wife? The guy who lured his young niece to a brothel to ruin her reputation then bailed halfway? I'm sorry but nobody told you to put this guy on any moral high ground. He can love his family AND be the most toxic person to them
Aemond is all bravado and pent up childhood rage. He has never known real fucking battle. Of course he loses control of his dragon and accidentally kills someone. That's what happens when you give a teenager a seasoned sentient weapon of mass destruction!!! The way yall paint him as this merciless killer aren't getting the nuance this show wants to present!
Rhaenyra is weak for not attacking first? EVEN AEGON DIDN'T WANT WAR. NOBODY WANTED THE WAR THAT IS THE BOTTOMLINE. WAR WOULD RUIN EVERYTHING AND THEY ALL KNEW THAT
The show has genuine flaws but these are just so annoying to hear over and fucking over. The whole goddamn point of the show is that the Dance was fucking avoidable. If only Rhaenys was crowned instead of Viserys. If only Viserys didn't marry a child. If only he actually loved and cared for his children w/ Alicent. If only he stood firm and faced the internal conflicts brewing in the family head on. If only both sides didn't sow the seeds of animosity between their children. If only Otto didn't poison Alicent's mind with paranoia and a false sense of moral righteousness.
The Dance was avoidable. That's why it's a tragedy. It was everyone's fault, some more than others, but everyone's nonetheless.
Finally someone with a brain! THANK YOU. people are trying so hard to find a redeeming quality to some of these shitty ass characters and get disappointed and call it "character assassination" when they act exactly how they've always been. Just say you have no idea what nuanced writing is and move on. It makes it 10x more tragic knowing this happened over a misunderstanding. Which happens a lot within families. People refuse to think critically and just go based off their emotions.
Daemon EP. 10 thoughts *SPOILERS*
As much as I like Daemyra, Damon acting the way he did in this episode is NOT ooc. He IS volatile, he IS unpredictable. It's why he's called the "Rogue Prince". This man's ENTIRE storyline this season has been his obvious love for his family above EVERYTHING else, even if it hurts their feelings. He believed he was the true born heir to the throne in the first half and felt slighted due to the Hightowers manipulating his brother (which they did). It's clear Daemon has a chip on his shoulder as the 2nd son. He never trusted Otto and hated that his brother never understood the need to rule with an iron fist. He saw the cracks in the cement before Viserys ever did.
If Viserys had ruled with an iron fist the civil war probably wouldn't have happened. Daemon WAS right. He did see Otto for what he was. You only need to watch the first ep. To see what Daemon was all about. He STRONGLY believes the House of the Dragon was weak, he wanted it to return to it's former glory... He literally said so as much when he asked for Rhaenyras hand. He felt under his brother the Targaryens were being undermined. On top of wanting his brothers love and affection he acted up when he was sulky. Or upset. *Cough cough* "Heir for a day"
Daemon does love his family but if you for a second think this was gonna be an epic love story it wasn't. I ship them for their insane chemistry but I can't deny he's always been an ass towards her. Y'all need to remember this isn't 2022 this is influenced of medieval history characters aren't gonna act according to today's moral standards. Does Daemon love Rhaenyra? Yes in his own way. I don't think that is gone just cause he "choked" her out in anger and ignored her during childbirth. Daemon is focused on winning a war against the people he KNEW were plotting against his family from the beginning and it frustrates him that Rhaenyra is wanting to be "civil" it brings him flashbacks of his brother being too "weak". It makes sense in that context.
I'm not excusing Daemon. He is an asshole. He has left her to her own devices before... This isn't the first time. But in his own twisted way he loves his family. Which is WHY he's so hell-bent on making the Targaryens formidable again. He gets pissed that Viserys once again never trusted him with the prophecy albeit he didn't know that was the case until Rhae said anything. But what I'm getting at his actions this episode make sense narratively. He's always been unpredictable.
Daemon, the crowning glory for him would be killing Aemond in the Battle of the God's. Not Rhaenyra's King Consort, not her husband, not a father, but as a warrior he's always been.

Daemon wants glory. He STRONGLY believes Dragons are the source of their power. He wants the Targaryens to be feared again and will do whatever it takes to get there.
HoTD theory/discussion
We saw at the end of episode 2 how both Corlys and Daemon we're talking about joining hands being the "2nd sons" I have a feeling everything that happened at the wedding and even Daemon's motives towards Rhaenyra have been carefully crafted by both of them. I do think the Valeryons wanted Joffrey dead. And I do think they had something to do with it. People assumed their "allegiance" was only for the war at the Step Stones but I truly believe there's more to it than that. I could flesh this theory out more if people are interested but I have sinking suspicion with everything being vague there's gonna be a massive reveal later on that it was all orchestrated by the Valeryons and Daemon, with the help of the Strong boy.

Druk worried about Kya. After all, he could breathe fire just a couple weeks after he was born. Kya was 7 months old and still hadn’t breathed fire even once! Druk knew it was his responsibility to teach her.

Geralt of Rivia - Betrayer Moon (1x03)
Hello, I´d like to share with you and your followers something I got from a writer in my fandom years ago. They left already but their words stuck with me. I´m going to share the wisdom with you in my own words.
Every time you get notes/kudos, imagine real people standing in front of you. Did you get 20 kudos? It might seem like it´s not much but would you fit so many people into your livingroom? It´s 20 REAL PEOPLE who decided to read your work and liked it. Imagine giving each of them a hug!
Did you get 50 kudos? Giving 50 hugs would take some time but you could give them cookies instead. Imagine 50 cookies. It´s a lot!
Did you get 100 kudos? Go to a mall and count 100 people, you´ll see it´s actually a lot more than you thought when you saw the number.
Did you get 500 kudos? 1 000? Well, it starts getting a bit overwhelming when you imagine such a crowd but it´s AMAZING that you made so many people happy with your writing. And you´d need a living room the size of a cncert hall to fit them all in :)
I get a kudos-email from AO3 every single day. Sometimes it’s just one, sometimes it’s more. Often I am like “1 kudos. Meh.”
Thinking about it like this, that ever day, a different person says “hey, well done!” to me…that’s really kind of amazing.
