Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service and Leadership
Brothers from the Northeastern University Associate Chapter of Sigma Beta Fraternity, Inc. volunteered for the YWCA on the MLK Day of Service and Leadership on January 18th. They spent their day with the YWCA located in Back Bay Boston learning about a new ethnic discussions program they wished to implement to women throughout the surrounding Boston communities. Brothers trekked out into the snow and rain and divided and conquered various Boston neighborhoods including Back Bay, Jamaica Plain, South End, Beacon Hill, and Charlestown, handing out informational flyers and posting them in the local businesses and shops. A lot of ground was covered in just a few hours!

PIKEtoberfest III
On Saturday, September 12th 2009, the brothers of the Northeastern University Associate Chapter of Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity, Inc. co hosted the third annual PIKEtoberfest concert with the brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, the members of the Northeastern University Resident Student Association, and College Against Cancer. Brothers volunteered their service in setting up the stage and surrounding area for the concert in addition to setting up audio and visual equipment and taking it all apart at the end of the concert for a full day's worth of activity. Longwave and State Radio performed despite the unrelenting showers which occurred throughout the day. Plus, there were also free hot dogs and hamburgers barbecued by RSA for staff and event attendees who came out despite the poor weather! Overall, the rain cleared up just in time for the performers and many students came out for a fun afternoon to conclude Welcome Week!
Night at The Curry Student Center
The annual Night at the Curry Student Center took place on Tuesday, September 7th this year (2009). Many of Northeastern University's student organizations, clubs, and sports teams come out to this event to present their groups to new and returning students in an effort to aid students in pursuing their interests, trying new things, and getting involved in campus. Many Brothers of the Northeastern University Associate Chapter of Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity, Inc. came out to represent their organization and enlighten students about their past and future activities. There are also photos from last year's night at the Curry Student Center (2008)!
National Convention 2009!
The Sigma Beta Rho National Convention for the year 2009 took place in Tampa, Florida from Thursday, July 9th through Sunday, July 12th. Booking their air travel months in advance, many brothers from Northeastern University traveled to Florida to partake in the year's biggest event! Brothers participated in mixers, social activities, a basketball tournament, seminars, a banquet, barbecue, and other activities where they were able to meet brothers from all across the nation. At the annual awards ceremony, the colony became recognized as an Associate Chapter of Sigma Beta Rho National Fraternity, Inc. and received the honors of Regional School of the year and Chapter of the Year for the nationwide organization. In addition, the individual honor was awarded to Raymond Wilson as Brother of the Year.
Gandhi Day of Service
This was the national service event we completed for Be The Change day, on Gandhi's birthday, October 4th. We were required to be present in an orientation session explaining the significance of the event, and the accomplishment of Gandhi.
Afterwards, each volunteer group was assigned to a different site. Our group was assigned to the Boston nature center. At the nature center, we placed hay around newly planted baby trees to help give them support and good posture. We also transported large pieces of wood to later be used to construct a fence.
This event was a great bonding experience for the Brothers with many team-building activities. The event was also very scenic, taking us all around the nature reserve site.
