It was chance, or perhaps a little bit of luck, that Basch caught her on a day where her only obligations were with parliament. Of course it would have been the opposite of luck if he had caught her in parliament but it would have been much worse if he had caught her on a day where she would spend much of it in the LGT Bank.
Her phone vibrated, which considering her current location was not as unusual as it might have been, just as she was walking out the doors. She had intended to wander down Städtle to look for a bite to eat, and maybe even spend her afternoon there. But a quick glance at her phone’s screen paused any plans she might have made for herself, a small smile gracing her face – for she had not heard from Basch in quite a while.
She waved to a few of the others who had followed her out before taking the call.
❝ Brother – !! It’s wonderful to be hearing from you! ❞
Despite her original intention to pause and take the call in front of the parliament building, she found herself wandering down the street anyways. It was not as if she had anything to worry about aside from pedestrian traffic after all. She silently reasoned with herself that she only wandered to get out of the sun, as there was very little shade where she originally was.
Basch smiled very softly, so slightly that no one that didn’t know him would even notice. It was nice to hear her voice after so long. “Hello,” He started, just as awkward as he usually was when it came to phone conversations, though, for her, his voice lacked the edge it usually carried. “I hope I’m not calling at a bad time.”
He set an onion down, deeming it the lesser of the two. The other onion ended up in the basket with his few other groceries. On to the apples he went, and, once more, he ended torn between two of them.
“I just wanted to get in contact with you and see how you’re doing,” It was unspoken that he was concerned, as any brother would be, though he knew she was fine without him fussing over her. “You’ve been well I’m sure. But...It’s been a while since we last spoke.”
I should start making time to at least call her every now and then. Basch thought. Silently, he promised himself that at least one of his less pressing part time jobs needed to go.
