I think I’m going to apply a bit more critical thinking when watching the news.
Meanwhile, in Spain:
Spring happens and it’s not photoshopped!
Actually it’s this: a carpet of poplar fluff burns to reveal the grass below at the Parque del Cidacos de Calahorra, Spain.
According to geographyrealm.com:The seed fluff produced by poplars is also highly flammable. The combustible seeds can quickly catch fire and burn off, leaving underlying grass and other vegetation untouched.
I know it’s poplar fluff and not snow, but this looks like Persephone coming up from the Underworld and kicking winter to the curb.
Fear not, the Afflicted Vampire (2.0)
(and some Blood Magic Feats)
So A while back, I took a stab at my own take on vampires. In my personal campaign setting, vampirism is more a blood disease than a curse, and I wanted something that really highlighted that, focusing on the relative frailty of a creature who must feed on blood and flee the sunlight to live, rather than on the magical or physical power of an immortal undead. The good news, is that I accomplished that. The bad news was that I did so a little too well. My original take on the Afflicted Vampire had more downsides that upsides, and all things said and done, was less powerful than a standard human. So I wanted to find a way to balance that out, without just making my vampires bog-standard immortal creatures of the night. After some talk with players, and more thought into the exact origin of vampires in Aetheros, I decided that the best way to do this would be to give vampires a natural affinity for blood magic. So this updated version of My vampire race includes two Blood Feats, which vampire characters can choose from. One highlighting the ferocity and violent impulses the afflicted fight to control, and the other focusing on the dark magic that runs through their tainted blood. These feats are not limited to Vampires, but vampires do gain access to one for free, regardless of prerequisites As usual, the preview here is low resolution, and probably out of date. If you have a stethoscope for some reason, now is a great time to hold it up to a tree. If you can find a smooth-barked hardwood (usually beech around here) then you can hear the life hurgling quietly inside it.
Someone explain, please. Bugs?
Nah! Trees circulation, basically. After the cold of winter, tree sap begins to flow upward and move sugars into the branches and leaves through the xylem, which is a process you can hear. It’s like tree blood.
So when we take sap or whatever out of trees, it’s like fucking bloodletting? Ya know, we stab tubes into trees and hang buckets below the tube and whatever is in the tree flows into the bucket and that’s that. It’s basically bloodletting.
yeah and then you pour the tree blood over your pancakes and eat it like some kind of dendrological vampire
