❛ It SEEMS like you LOVE to have your ass KICKED. ❜
What I mean: You are one of the best friends I've ever had. The level on which we connect baffles me. I'm so so happy that I can share my interests, secrets, guilt, faults, joys, and insecurities with you in confidence and receive encouragement to improve and keep being better, and I'm comfortable with the ease with which I can reciprocate those feelings and that support to you as well. We make a great team and I'm really fortunate to have you in my life.
What I say: u lil shit
Matt closes his eyes as her hands settle on the side of his face and she pulls him close, pressing a kiss to his lips. He places his hands on her sides, trailed them down to rest on her hips. His fingers dance across the silky material of her dress.
As quickly as her hands find him they are gone. Only to be replaced by her hands pounding against his chest. Once she is finished he wraps his hands around her wrists and pulls her in close.
“I didn’t want you to get hurt because of me. If I failed to keep you safe, Karen I would never forgive myself. Pushing you away would have kept you safe. I was selfish and I’m sorry.”
He apologized pressing a kiss softly to her forehead. His arms moving to wrap around her waist in an embrace. He swore to himself to do whatever it took to keep her safe. If they were to have any sort of relationship, the threat of endangerment would loom over their heads like a rain cloud.
It felt like a weight was lifted off his shoulders at the relief of all his secrets being told to her. The excitement of the future bubbled over his emotions and a grin spread over his face.
“I love you too, Karen. I should have said it three years ago.”
❛ I won’t, Matt. You have to get this out of your head,. I’m fine, I’m safe and with you I’ll always be. ❜ It seems like that sometimes he doesn’t even understand how important he is to her, how much she trusts him and knows that he is capable to keep her safe -- she knew this way before he told her the truth. This slightly fucked up but perfect man is the love of her life and it scares the shit out of her but she puts on a brave face. She’s afraid of loving someone so much that losing him would destroy her, too. She’s afraid of the fact that he could die everyday.
She doesn’t think she’ll get over this anytime soon, but she stays and always will. When she said he’s not alone years ago she meant it.
❛ You should’ve said it years ago. You should have but you didn’t and it’s okay. ❜ Karen smiles at him softly and presses a soft kiss on his neck, inhaling his scent. He smells like beer and slightly sweaty but still Matt. Wrapping her arms tightly around his neck she doesn’t think she’ll ever let him go. He looks happy and she hopes that she is the one who makes him feel like this.
❛ I've always known that something is different with you, but I never thought that you are you. Oh god, Matt, I’m so proud of you ❜ She melts in his arms and as their lips meet again she lets out a soft sigh.
❛ Foggy told me that you’re being---miserable and I don’t know--something shattered in me. I couldn’t marry him when I love you so much that it overwhelms me. Nothing will be easy, I have to get used to this and you will have to learn that I’m with you no matter what. So if you try to push me away one more time I’m gonna punch you in the handsome face of yours. Just because I’ve fallen for an ass like you. ❜
It’s a... {Closed}
Matt chuckled when she said he had his nose, “I don’t know about that,” he shook his head as he traced his small nose and then reached up to follow the line of his. “Mine is pretty big,” he murmured.
Afterward they left the doctor’s and went home, sighing when the door closed behind them, glad they were finally at their house. He set the 3D image of their son right on the table next to the TV before he went back over to Karen as she spoke. His heart skipped a beat when she said she wanted him to have his last name. “You’re giving the world another Murdock?” he chuckled. “No one is going to thank you for that….except me,” he shrugged.
He blushed a little when she complimented the man he was and he shook his head, “I don’t think being a defense attorney is something a kid should be proud of,” he murmured. Even though he only took actually innocent clients, he knew that being a defense lawyer was more about the money than it was the conscious. “He should be more proud of you.”
“You’re brave, and selfless, and beautiful and so kind…,” he smiled at her. “Even after everything you’ve been through,” he murmured as he made his way over to her, reaching down and touching her stomach gently.
❛ Well, I like your father’s name and I guess the world will be a better place when a young Murdock is welcomed to Earth. ❜ Wrapping an arm around his neck while the other one rests on the one on her belly, Karen smiles up at the man. It is so nice that he already found a place for the picture. He’s going to be a really good father, she knows. She’s sad that Matt had to grow up without his parents, without a real family and swears to God that their child’ll have one. Neither of them are perfect, they won’t be the greatest parents, but that’s not something they can’t work on. They will, together.
❛ But what I meant is that we should call him Jack as your father. ❜
She furrows her bows and for a moment she can’t decide if she wants to hit him or kiss him, but ends up kissing his lips lightly, barely touching, Their son kicks just in time, where his palm connects with her stomach.
❛ Friendly reminder, that you were the only one who believed me when I needed you the most. You and Foggy saved my life and our child will be the proudest kiddo in Hell’s Kitchen. ❜ Karen lets out a small sigh, giving her belly a disapproving look.
❛ Please, tell our son to stop kickin’, for God’s sake, he gives me no rest.. He sure as hell has your DNA. ❜
“Forgive me Father, for I have sinned.”
He had shared lattes with Father Lantom the morning of Karen and David’s wedding. Confessing his recent sins to the man, who was quite surprised that he wasn’t confessing anything related to Daredevil. “Matthew, you have a wedding to get ready for.” The older man said dismissively.
“Coward. You’re being a coward. You’re seriously not going? I helped pick out your clothing and you aren’t going. Unbelievable.”
Foggy moved about the apartment as he got ready for the wedding. He kept adjusting his tie, over and over again. Matt reached out and still the man’s hands, adjusting the knot and ensuring that the fabric was straight. “She wants you there, Matt.” Foggy’s tone softened as he spoke, a hand moving to rest on his shoulder. “I can’t, Foggy. I can’t be there as she’s handed off to some other guy.” Foggy’s footsteps sounded as he moved to the door. “He loves her, Matt. Put on a happy face and go to your friends wedding.” Matt moved into his bedroom and retrieved the gift that he had bought for the couple and one just for Karen, alongside it a letter that explained everything to her. He wanted to tell her the truth. His black mask and letter would do that. Foggy exited the apartment and closed the door behind him, leaving Matt alone with his thoughts.
Matt moved into the kitchen and opened the fridge, his fingers searching for a bottle of beer and the left over box of pizza from last night. He walked over to the couch and plopped down, loosening his tie and running a hand over his cleanly shaven face. His suit jacket hung over the back of the couch carelessly. He took a giant sip of beer and let out a sigh as the cool liquid went down his throat.
A knock at the door caused a groan to escape his lips. He placed his now empty beer bottle besides the other two he had previously downed. He stumbled over the empty pizza box he had carelessly discarded earlier and made his way to the door. He opened it and his brows instantly furrowed. The smell of lilac mixed with way too much hairspray filled his nostrils. The smooth sound of satin brushing against itself alerted him that the person in front of him was Karen.
“Karen? What are you doing here?”
Karen is breathless by the time she reaches his door, heart beating so fast in her chest she is afraid she might faint. But she had to do this. She couldn’t marry David knowing that he is not the one, will never be the one.-- he deserved so much better, a person who loves him more than she ever could. She never thought he’d understand her but of course she expected the worse again ---- David knows and he understands. She thinks she is a monster for hurting the only person who never ever hurt her but this is the first time in years that she feels free. Leaving him was the greatest decision she has ever made.
❛ I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t marry him. ❜
When she received his gift--the mask, she almost had a panick attack. She couldn’t believe, she still can’t. Her first thought was to punch him in the face, he fooled her all along -- every time she mentioned the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen he played along. At the same time... he saved her life. He saved her life and for the fuck sake, he is a hero. He’s a hero and everything that happened between them finally makes sense. (Which leads back to the fact that she wants to punch him in the face again. Who is he to decide such things without asking her?) She’s mad, proud and so in love at the same time. She cups his cheeks and kisses him, stroking his skin under her tumb. Karen’s desperate to get more of him, so she presses her chest against his. She’s still wearing her wedding dress and is actually glad that it’s no big deal. As she slowly pulls away, she lets anger control her for a couple of minutes and she hits his chest hard between each word.
❛ You did it to protect me, didn’t you? You rejected me so I could stay away from danger. Don’t. Ever. Make. Decisions. Without. Me. Understood? ❜
She loves him. She loves him so much but he’s a dickhead. He’s such a dickhead.
❛ I love you so much, you asshole, and as I--as I stared at that mask. Matt, I realized that-- it’ll never be over. ❜
Karen’s gentle hands reach up and remove his glasses. Her touch ignites fire across his skin as she places a hand on his scruff covered cheek. He imagined her standing in front of the window, her features illuminated by the light of the billboard. For a moment he could “see” her. It was just his imagined vision of her but it was still Karen. He wanted to stroke her cheek and place gentle kisses upon her lips. He wanted to memorize her features before she was gone.
“I already have.”
His words are just above a whisper and he reached up to place a hand over her’s, his thumb gently brushing against her soft skin. Her idea of his future sounds wonderful but he could only imagine that future with her. He wouldn’t imagine it any other way. He sounds so happy in her idea of his future, though he knows that his future will be far more empty without her.
“I lied to you, Karen Page. Three years ago you told me you loved me and I didn’t say it back. I pushed you away. I told you I only envisioned us being friends, that wasn’t the truth. I wanted us to be so much more but I couldn’t tell you that. I couldn’t tell you that I love you. Now I’m too late.”
He moves the hand that was resting on her forearm up to rest against her neck. His head leans forward and his eyelids flutter shut as he presses a kiss against her lips. He is gentle but also tries to convey just how much he loves her in one simple kiss before pulling away and releasing his grip on her. He takes a step back and runs a hand through his hair.
“Oh god, Karen. I’m so sorry.”
He shouldn’t have kissed her. She was engaged, it was wrong. It was wrong for him to feel such love for her. The ring on her finger was a sign of that. Tears stung at his eyes and he swallowed to fight them back.
I’m too late. Missed my chance at a future with her.
❛ You-- ❜ Before she even gets the chance to finish the sentence he’s already making her lips busy. It all shock her. His words... his kiss. She kisses him back because she’s weak. Because she can’t stop it -- she. is taste is different, he’s like cherry and beer and something incredibly forbidden. everything in this kiss is heartbreaking, sad but at the same time full of love. Full of the love he feels for her and that she returns even if years passed and she has to marry another man tomorrow. David. The thought of David makes her heart ache. She doesn’t say she feels nothing for her because that wouldn’t be true. David’s like spring. When they first met she was a mess. She never thought she will ever feel love again but he showed her that love is everywhere. But he’ll never be the one. She’ll never shiver just by thinking of him. He’ll always be spring, always be someone she can rely on, but never true love. She wants to punch Matt in the face. She wants to tell him that’s he’s an asshole, to call him a coward and leave him there but she’s unable to do so. Because he’s a coward, yes, but--he’s her Matt.
❛ You--You are in love with me. You were in love with me and you never told me to stop. You never told me to stay, you told me that you never wanted me and now that this is happening you kiss me. One word, Matt. ❜ Karen would gladly punch him. Would gladly hit him. He’s in love with her and she’s in love with him. It could have been so easy. They could have had it all. She tries to ignore that she cries like a baby, that her voice is shaking and she can barely breath.
❛ One word and I would have come back to you. I would have left everything behind just to be with you. God, Matt, I love you, but I can’t--this is forbidden. ❜ She imagines being his bridge. Running away with him. She imagines, imagines and imagines and she realizes that she is a monster. That she shouldn’t be doing this. She doesn’t deserve either of them.
❛ I"ll always love you. I’ll always love you and this is a goodbye. It’s--It’s o-over. ❜
“Way too many times.”
He lets out a chuckle and raised the bottle to his lips, pausing for a moment before tilting his head back and downing a sip of the liquid. A smile graced his lips as he recognized the beer to be the same one he had stocked in his fridge. It was empty now, his drinking habits increasing since Karen had come back to Hell’s Kitchen.
“Karen, no matter what you’ll still be my friend. I’ll still care for you regardless-… I’ll always care about you.”
Matt shook his head, his brows knitting together in concern. He didn’t listen to the rustle of fabric or the sound of her bones creaking as she placed a hand on his cheek, right below his eye where he remembered her placing a hand once before. He reaches up to place a hand over hers but before he does her touch is gone. His skin cooling at the loss of her contact.
The three words he had wanted to say to her before danced on the tip of his tongue. He forced them back, she was engaged. Soon to be another man’s wife. Feeling that way about her now was wrong. It had been dangerous before, but he would have protected her, ensured that she was safe from harm. His chance at that life was gone.
There is a shift in the stuffing of the couch and the echoing of the beer bottle hitting the glass of the coffee table. She’s gone. He fidgets with the sweatpants he was wearing, pausing to give her time, space. After a moment he stands and follows her to the window. Gently he reaches out and places a hand on her elbow. He gently strokes her skin, a sad smile forms over his lips.
“You’re going to be married tomorrow.”
He leans forward and presses his nose against the side of her head. Lilac. Her hair smells like lilac. He pressed a kiss gently to the side of her head before releasing her from his grasp.
“You’ll be such a beautiful bride.”
When she feels him kissing the side of her head a single tea drop rolls down on her cheek and she swallows hard to keep the rest in. This is not how it supposed to be, this is not how she planned to spend the night -- realizing that she loved him more than her soon-to-be husband is definitely not the best way. It’s so freaking hard to breath. Everytime her heart beats it kills her a bit inside.
❛ I’m--I’m going to be married tomorrow. ❜ She almost lose it there, but instead she slowly reaches out to take off his glasses, giving him a small smile that’s not really a true one but she tries anways. Karen has to tell herself that everything is gonna be alright -- even if she knows that this feeling will never disappear. This kind of love, sad or not, never dies.
❛ And one day, you’ll find an amazing woman and you’ll fall madly in love. ❜ Back to the subject they talked about in the office of Nelson & Murdock, Karen feels her chest tighten even more. That’s how it’s going to be. He doesn’t want her, he never did, so she’ll end up marrying David -- and he’ll find find someone sooner or later. And when that happens, she’ll never come back. Now she knows why she thought visiting him was a good idea. It was indeed a goodbye. ❛ You’ll get married and have many many kids. You know, mini versions of you who’ll have your eyes and the Murdock charm. ❜
She places a hand on his cheek, trying to keep her voice calm because she didn’t want him to know. (To know how hard it is.) He really needs to shave, she thinks but in the end decides that he still looks amazing. He always does.
❛ You’ll grow old, will become one of the most successful lawyers of this state. You’ll have lot of money and many amazing memory. And when we meet again, you will be the person I’ve always knows you’ll become. ❜
Karen likes the idea how Matt having a happy life. He deserves everything good in life.
❛ I’ll always believe in you. No matter what happens, this won’t change. ❜
He pulls out his phone and with a few swipes and the click of the home button the familiar beep of Siri comes to life. He gives the commands to call the local pizzeria that was just a few blocks away and holds the device up to his ear. It rings a few times before a voice answers and asks what he’d like to order. A moment later the pizza is ordered and he reaches to set the phone down on the coffee table in front of him. His hand reaches over and finds the pack of beer that Karen brought. He removes a bottle from the cardboard holder and gently taps it against the coffee table, finding the edge before he hits the cap against it, causing it to come off. He offers her the beverage and removes a second bottle, following the same procedure as before.
This was all too much for him. This sweet torture of her being so close to him but in reality being so distant. It was like being given a gift but not being able to open it. He couldn’t have the one thing he wanted. “Karen, he loves you. He won’t do anything stupid. Besides, the worse that could happen is that he wakes up on the roof of a hotel with no memory of how he got there as his friends have a drunken excursion out in the city.”
His first words pained him to say. Admitting that another man captured her heart hurt him. It was worse then any pain he had ever experienced. The second part of his words was to make her laugh, it was a lame attempt but he tried. He tried to hear the sound of her laughter once again.
“Pretend? Karen we don’t have to pretend to be friends. We are friends. There are three people I care about in this city, you’re one of them. And I still care about you even when you’re miles away.”
That would never stop. He was convinced that a day wouldn’t go by that he didn’t regret his decisions. He did, however, have to pretend that they were just friends and that he didn’t long for more then that relationship with her.
❛ How-How many times did Foggy make you watch Hangover? ❜ She accepts the bottle he offers.
This is the first time in forever that she finally manages to laugh, to really laugh. It’s like his presence sets something free in her soul. It warms her chest, makes her miss the old times so much but she feels happy at the same time. That’s Matt Murdock to you. He’s an amazing person. That’s why she fell in love with him back then.
❛ Well, it’s good to know that you still care about me. When I left--How I left-- I was afraid that everything between us has fallen apart. ❜ She touches his face lovingly, stroking the skin under his eye. His skin is warm under the palm of her hand, making her realize that’s she’s doing something that she definitely shouldn’t be.
❛ I care about you, too. After I told you--that I love you-- I never thought we will be sitting here one day. It was all my fault--wanting someone I couldn’t have.❜
Karen lets out a sigh, pulling her hand away as if she has touched fire. That’s what she did -- touched something in his very soul. She runs a hand through her hair, heart pounding in her chest but she tries to ignore it. He’s Matt, she’s going to get married and he does nothing but still do. The fact that he is so close yet so far, that she could reach him but he would never want her makes everything in her shatter.
She takes a huge sip, then places the bottle on the table and stands up, not being able to stay this close to him anymore. Approaching his huge windows, she smiles at the same old view. Touching the glass and feeling how cold it is does not cool her body but she think nothing ever would.
A part of her begs him ‘come and kiss me’ while the other screams ‘please don’t do this to me’.
❛ Matt--. ❜
If someone is private , selective, or anything at all —-it is because that is what makes them comfortable. It isn’t an action that is directed towards you to purposely insult you or your writing. Please, respect people && their comfort zones. They have their blog the way it is for a reason. Don’t guilt people into coming out of their comfort zone because you feel ‘offended’. If you’re offended by something that a stranger has done, then perhaps you should merely remove yourself from the situation entirely.

She had kissed him back and now her lips were gone from his. His lips, slightly parted, turned into a frown as his brows furrowed in confusion. He shook his head at her words. These hadn’t been just drunken thoughts, they were his true desires. He would have kissed her had he been sober. Well, maybe he would have. Regardless, he had feelings for her, feelings he felt he couldn’t act on.
“Why can’t we, Karen?”
He asked, his hand returning to her cheek as he stroked her soft skin. Hadn’t there been some quote about drunken words being sober thoughts?
“I won’t regret kissing you in the morning, or telling you that I care for you. I’ve wanted to kiss you for awhile now, I’m sorry that it took me getting drunk to actually do it.”
❛ Matt--. ❜ Karen gives him a small smile even though he can’t see, raising a hand to touch his lips. As her thumb is caressing his bottom lip, the blonde moves a bit closer. A couple of minutes pass, giving her some time to think.
❛ We’ll talk about this when you’re sober. ❜
She leans close and her thumb is replaced by her lips -- the kiss is soft, full of promises but nothing too much. She doesn’t know if she can trust him, if he really is telling the truth. He is a confusing man.
❛ You should sleep. I will stay here with you, okay? ❜
Karen likes the idea that he’ll be there when she wakes up, at the same time it makes her feel nervous. What if he changes his mind? He wouldn’t hate her---but he could be distant again and that’s hundred percent worse.
❛ I care for you, too. ❜

Matt sat and listened to everything in the room, smiling when Karen spoke, before he furrowed his brows. They could print out a 3D picture? He nodded, ‘Yes…please,” he said quietly, his voice breathy, completely taken aback at the suggestion. He’d never in a million years thought that he’d be able to see his child the way he did.
He leaned his forehead into her lips whens he kissed him, smiling as he waited for the doctor to come back with the picture. He was surprised at her question, “Why wouldn’t I be happy?” he asked as he gave her a small smile. He reached up from where he sat, finding her hands and wrapping his fingers around her hand before his other hand settled on her stomach, rubbing his hand in a small circle and getting a kick in response, causing him to smile more. “I am very happy, Karen…don’t ever doubt that.”
He turned his head toward the door before it opened, the doctor coming back. ‘Here you go, sir,’ she smiled as she settled the small picture into his hands. ‘Enjoy.’
His hands moved over the object, his sensitive fingers touching every inch of it, moving them over every crevice, the roundness of the baby’s cheek and the top of his head. His eyes watered as he let out a happy sound that was half a cry. “He’s gonna look like you,” he said as he brushed his thumb over the baby’s tiny nose.
❛ Well, he has your nose. That’s clear. ❜
She wraps an arm around his neck while the other one reaches out to stroke his cheek lovingly. They’re going to have a healthy baby boy and she wants to cry so much it’s hard to keep it together. She blames her hormones, mostly because they truly are out of control these days months.
❛ I’m though I will be disappointed if Foggy wins the bet, but I’m not. We’re gonna have a baby boy and trust me I already know he has the devil in him. ❜
Karen kisses his cheek softly as they leave. They never really discussed their relationship, but they live together and everything seems to be perfectly fine. For the first time in forever she feels happy. Of course, she has her worries but she doesn’t think she’ll ever stop worrying.
She lets out a small satisfied sigh when the door of their home finally closes behind them. All she wants to do is being with him, maybe finally discussing what is going on between them. They had sex, yes, but ever since they’re having a baby everything has changed -- she doesn’t want him to be with her because she’s pregnant. She’s not sure she’s ready to get an answer.
❛ You know... Now that we know it’s a baby boy, I’ve been thinking and-- I want him to have your father’s name. ❜
Karen gives him a sweet smile even though he can’t see.
❛ I know he’d be so proud of the man you are, Matt -- and I’m not talking only about Daredevil, but also the man behind the mask. No matter where he is, I know he’s as proud as I am. ❜
“My boss duties never end, even when I’m drunk and out of the office. All the more reason why I’m sorry that I’m here.”
The couch shifts as Karen takes a seat beside him. Her giggle forces a smile to appear on his face. He loved the sound of it, hell he loved everything about her. Her voice, her voice when she spoke in Spanish, everything.
“Drunkie, don’t get too used to calling me that.”
An elbow hits him on his side, eliciting a laugh to escape. He scooted closer to her, glass of water still in hand. Matt reached out towards her, his hand finding her upper arm. Once he was a better idea of where she is he moves his hands up towards her face, cupping her cheek gently. He leaned towards her, his lips finding hers. His previous desire to kiss her finally taking over his thoughts and actions.
“Liquid courage…”
He mumbled as pulled away from her to get rid of the now in the way glass of water. He reached in front of him and found the table, setting the glass on it before returning his attention to her.
“I’m your boss, I shouldn’t kiss you or feel this way but I do.”
There were more reasons then that, but he didn’t think of those. Instead his thoughts were focused on her.
❛ Drunk and still bossy. We1ll talk about this when you can walk. ❜
She is glad she could make him laugh -- his presence making her nervous. Good nervous, but she is not sure what to tell him. When he touches her it feels like her skin is on fire, her belly tightens.
❛ Matt?❜
As his lips meet hers the blonde closes her eyes, immediately kissing him back, burying one of her hands in his hair. Karen is really surprised by the kiss, mostly because she never expected anything like that happening between them. Yes, she likes him, is crushing on him a lot and might be in love with him, but he is always so distant when it comes to her. She never thought she could be worthy to break his walls and she probably isn’t. He’s just drunk. She pulls away, not finding the right words at first.
❛ I--You--We can’t do this. ❜
She flushed as she watches him getting rid of the glass and when he turns back to her the blonde lets out a small sigh. Feel what way? He probably doesn’t even know what he is talking about.
❛ Don’t do anything you’ll regret in the morning--. ❜
