Battle: Vs. Dungeons

There is one main dungeon in New Canvas, it contains 60 floors. Each floor has a warp panel and a boss. It’s not mandatory to take part, but it may serve as a CG challenge for some of you * SPECIFICALLY FOR MULTIPLAYER MODE:

- You may draw your character ascending the dungeon floors with friends HOWEVER, only the person who draws the piece gets to go to the next floor. Unless it's a collaborative piece, then it would be fine for multiple artists to go to the next level. *

Instructions:

Draw your character(+other characters) exploring each floor/ fighting the boss of the floor with their OC

Design the floor layout AND the boss yourself

 Anything goes as long as you put effort, and preferably include a background

NO SKIPPING FLOORS

Tag your dungeon pieces with #nc_dungeon

Note:

You can always go back to a previous floor, but no skipping will be allowed

Each floor/boss resets every time you enter the dungeon. So feel free to design it however you like.

When you beat the 60 floors, you will be featured on the main tumblr and others will draw congratulatory art for you.

Battle: Vs. Artist

You might think of this as the PvP part of this project, and the bulk of it is basically to draw your artist character challenging another artist character and battling via OCs(*)

*Terminology: Artist Character-- the character you created for this project-- the one with the tablet etc. OCs-- the OCs created by your artist character*

General rules to follow:

1. OCs are unable to die in battle When they are defeated, they merely disintegrate into pixels until the artist character draws them again.

2. Artists can only send out an equal number of OCs as the opponent Think of it as a Pokemon battle, double/triple etc. both sides must be balanced in that regard

3. Unlimited number of people can battle together This is alright as long as you can manage it 

4. Whichever side wins, is up to you to decide There is no fixed system for the battle system, the aim for this is to allow you to draw combat pictures. You are given full liberty to decide how battles go(although ensure your partner(s) are alright with it)

Additional Activities/ Notes

Other than the above, feel free to roleplay, create AUs and explore the world together. The possibilities are endless.

IMPORTANT: You are responsible for what you do. There is no moderating system due to the very open nature of this project, please ensure in whatever you do, the people who might be potentially affected are alright with it.

Dungeon Theme List

Ateliers 

Ateliers are a personal space given to each artist for them to customise according to their will. It starts out as an infinite, blank space and it is up to the artist to set it's bounds. It can act as an artist's residence or function as a gallery for them to display their pieces of art.

REQUIREMENTS:

- WARP PANEL/SWATCH It's largely up to you how the atelier will look, but it has to have a swatch (see below) for others and the artist themselves to leave/enter the atelier.

Exploration

New Canvas is full of areas waiting to be explored. Feel free to draw all sorts of scenery/designing new areas. But take note these areas must have a 'Swatch' in them

Artist travel around using this device called a 'Swatch'

(NOT IMPORTANT) Little bit on how they work: By stepping on the central panel , the artist’s bracelet will be identified which causes the levitating block to disintegrate and materialise as holographic images showing the preview of  the location the artist wants to warp to.

What is the New Canvas Project?

It is an OPEN project that allows for participants to have the freedom to do whatever they like! (Think of it as a smaller version of Pixiv Fantasia)

It is about a magical universe revolving around artists who are given special tablets that allow them to battle each other through the OCs they create, explore the vast land etc.

How do I join?

First, create a character with the following items: (You can be as creative as you want with these, as long as they serve their purpose)

Enter your character into the Character List (You don’t have to, but if you’d like others to contact you—go ahead. Otherwise, keeping to Tumblr is just fine as well) All you have to do is to upload drawings and tag them with the following tags below.

OCs

*Not referring to your artist character, but to their own set of original characters*

Besides the artists themselves, you may create OCs of your artist (Forgive the extreme OC-ception here) They are mainly used for battling, but can be summoned at any time

- Create as many as you want Although in battles, there can only be a restricted number sent out—depending on your battle(Think of it as a pokemon battle of sorts) - OCs do NOT die (from battle) The only one who can kill OCs are their specific owners, if an OC is defeated in battle it will disintegrate into pixels until the artist draws it again.

What do I do?

These are basically prompts and are optional, you can do these at your own pace, there is no rush.

This post will touch on them briefly, they will be further elaborated on in their own specific posts.

* You can take part in both, these are split up for the sake of organisation. Nonetheless, please read both*

Solo Mode  (For those of you who don’t really want to interact with other characters/ prefer going at your own pace)

BATTLES: VS Dungeons: Use your OCs to fight in dungeons, each dungeon level will have a theme and boss to defeat. Try to get to the top !

ATELIERS: Design your atelier, it starts out as a blank infinite space. You decide it’s boundaries and how it looks(It may not even be indoors)

EXPLORATION: Draw your character in all sorts of environments. The world of New Canvas is a big one, use warp panels (‘swatches’) to get around

Multiplayer Mode (For those of you who want to draw other people’s characters/interact/RP etc.— Make sure the other person’s alright with whatever you’re going to do)

BATTLES: VS Dungeons (Co-op): Instead of heading off to dungeons alone, team up with a fellow artist and battle together VS Artists: Use your OCs and go up against other artists’ OCs

EXPLORATION (Co-op): Instead of drawing your character alone, draw your character with others exploring the world together
