ford should have like. god awful memory. like the guy got memory gun’d multiple times, has childhood trauma, had a demon messing with his head, and went long enough without sleeping that his body started forcing microsleeps

(and that isn’t even mentioning the asphyxiation in the spaceship and the electrical torture)

we think ford has a really hard time remembering a lot of things, but he never admits to it cause he doesn’t wanna seem like he’s being insensitive to stan (he isn’t, but he worries anyway)

someone asks him what he’s been doing and he either spaced out for six hours or it got blasted from his mind so he just goes ‘uH well uh- hAHAH you know what they say time flies and all that….but not literally or i would’ve researched that by now. maybe i did. maybe it wasn’t in the journals. you don’t know. DON’T ASK ME ANY MORE QUESTIONS.’

stan: hey ford where’d you put my keys

ford: (FUUUUUUCK) mabel sweetie did you see where we left the keys :]

Yeah this is one of my favorite Gravity Falls jokes

The sheer absurdity of claiming there have been STUDIES into the danger of ladders in houses

The hilariously obvious lie of ladders in houses being more dangerous than a loaded gun

Then you get hit upside the head with "That's why I own TEN GUNS" which caught me so off guard when I watched this episode I actually choked

The absurdity increasing with "in case some MANIAC tries to sneak in a LADDER" (ties that punchline in with the first half of the joke)

It's both REALLY funny AND it's building character via A) showing Stan avoiding eye contact when he lies and B) the fact that he has Ten Fucking Guns???? (tie that in with him hiding a baseball bat in the couch in ddnmd and. yeah. something something ptsd barnum something something)

This joke is very American (and as an america-hating american i think it's hilarious)
