You haven't really been to AC until you have visited White House Sub Shop. It first opened its doors in 1946. Some famous patrons to eat here include; Frank Sinatra, Oprah Winfrey, Rocky Marciano, Joe DiMaggio, Donald Trump and The Beatles, to name a few.

The Young Men's Christian Association building, on Main Street, was built in 1924. This building contains offices, a gymnasium, a swimming pool and more. It is currently being used as nursing school and seniors day care facility. This decaying building is beautiful now, I can't imagine what it was like in its heyday.

The Long Branch Post Office, on 3rd Ave, in 1918 and in 2016. Almost 100 years and not much has changed.

The Circus Drive-in restaurant, on route 35, in Wall, opened its doors in 1954. Open during the summer months, it offered people inside dining as well as carhop services. Odd looking images like, Calico the Evil Clown of Middletown or Tillie, in Asbury Park, have a long history of being great advertising for popular, Jersey Shore attractions. It has recently closed for good.

The Thom Mcan building was a popular shoe store chain during the early 20th century. This building also housed the legendary Upstage Club, on the second and third floors. It was founded by Tom and Margaret Potter in 1968. The club was the mecca for upcoming rocknroll stars like, Bruce Springsteen, Steve Vanzandt and Southside Johnny Lyon, to name a few. The club closed in 1971 but it became such an important venue for upcoming musicians, that it is featured in the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.

Just some of the many intricate details on the carousel building. Built in 1888, it has withstood multiple nor'easters and hurricanes, the Great Depression and both World Wars.

The Asbury Park Post Office was built in 1912 and is still used today. It was originally made to compliment the train station, which is directly across the street.

The Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall was built in 1892. The 900 seat, Richardsonian Romanesque assembly hall, is on the campus of Princeton University. It looks like it should be on the set of Harry Potter.

Calico, has been at this location since 1956. The 30-foot-tall steel sign, which once rotated, was built to advertise Joseph Azzolina’s Food Circus store. Which later became the Foodtown franchise. The clown’s angry grin and red tipped index earned it the nickname the “Evil Clown of Middletown”. Intriguing, odd looking images such as Calico or Tillie, in Asbury Park, have a long history of being great advertising for popular Jersey shore attractions. Calico has been featured in movies and even on Jay Leno.
