they do! i believe its around 3rd-4th year that you take a course in mathematical logic (usually called first-order logic).

the main idea is that there are "deduction rules" you can apply to logical inferences. If you know that:

X implies Y, or X will lead to Y, and

that X is true,

then Y is also true!

For example, "if someone were to be sad, they are not happy" is an implication. So if you know that John is sad, you can deduce that John is not happy. Pretty easy one, in fairness, but you can have all kinds of complicated rules and will learn how to simplify them logically, which i think is cool :)
