it’s just. it would be so easy to make steve & bucky’s relationship romantic. it wouldn’t even have to be a big deal, just throw in a line somewhere, write a small kiss or an explicitly romantic gesture that makes it ~canon~, so it’s not just “subtext” anymore. you have the writers and directors talking about how important their relationship is, saying they’re soulmates, saying they love each other, and understand each other, basically confirming that the “it’s hard to find someone with shared life experience” line is about bucky. and it’s so beautifully built up and well written that i’m sure the audience would just accept it like “oh okay, that makes sense” because it just fucking does. and yet they’re all like “we’re not going to define it” and go on and on about “brotherly” love like i’m sorry but there’s nothing platonic or brotherly about their relationship. it’s just fucking gay.
