Character sketches from the post-apocalypse.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you all!
Only remembered Inktober was a thing last Friday, so I’m starting from the 13th. Here’s my efforts so far.
Bitey boy.
Workin' on stuff.
When you’re asked to make a thing, then you make a thing, but then you realise that a thing you already made is what they need.
Anyway have this megafaunal sunset.
Legends tell of heroes fishing monsters from the sea, transforming their carcasses into islands for humans to settle. In the future, history repeats itself...it’s not quite a hero, and it’s not quite an island, but still...
Illustration I did for the Sydney Comics Guild 2017 Anthology, ‘Apocalyptic Fairytale’. Which is a book with art and comics from many other lovely people that you should totally buy HERE:

I sketch in blue and outline in pen, because if you scan light blue in greyscale it doesn’t appear. This one won’t be outlined, but it’s a good example of my drawing process.
Inspired by the god designs in Smite, I sketched some designs for Camazotz, the Mayan god of bats. The small one in the top right is something I'm planning to turn into a full illustration.
Quick piece inspired by my thesis research on the moa. I used it to experiment with using coloured lines instead of the black lines that I usually use. It's not perfect (I redrew that leg five zillion times and this is the least terrible one I did) but it was more for practice (and a new twitter background).

My entry for the God-zine-la! It's kind of a meta piece about the American adaptations of Godzilla.
I don't usually work entirely in digital but I learnt a lot about working in photoshop from doing this!
Result of an experiment with lines and lighting effects in photoshop. Not sure what this little guy is meant to be, some kind of spirit? Dunno.
I did a poster design for a movie night run by the Macquarie University Museum Appreciation Society. The theme was 'Night at the Museum' so I started off with a homage to the poster for that film. It really didn't work for the format they wanted, so I adapted the ideas into what you see above. You can see the full poster displayed on a big screen at the university! It's so cool!
Incidentally, the movie night is on tomorrow night in the university's Ancient Cultures Museum (X5B) at 6pm. There will be sweets.
