So, today is Jiraiya's birthday. Happy birthday to him!
đş You got me flowers? đş
âThese areâŚ. for me?â
Antonio nodded. Still holding up his offering.
âThose are mine?â
Another nod.
âYou⌠got me flowers?â
Antonio Madrigal peered around the large boquet of flowers he was holding up and gave her a slightly exasperated look after having answered variations of that question multiple times already.
He moved forward and sat them on her lap. Isabela was still looking shocked and staring at the gift. She gently reached out to touch the flowers her little cousin had gathered for her.
âI just figured no oneâs ever gotten you flowers before, and that you give people flowers all the time. You deserve some too.â
Isabela looked at him and away from the petals she was idly playing with and admiring when he said this.
Suddenly she threw her arms around her baby cousin, and felt tears welling up in her eyes.
âDo you like them?â He asked innocently.
Head buried in his shoulder, and in the middle of the biggest hug sheâs given her cousin, she choked out through a sob of joy-
âI love them.â
A talk between Sally and Poseidon
đ Blessing đ
Sally Jackson stood out on the balcony of her New York apartment rocking her newborn child back and forth. Her beautiful baby girl. It had been quite a few years since sheâd done this with Percy.
It was a crisp and clear night. There had been a light breeze wafting through the air. Suddenly, on that breeze, for a brief moment she could smell the ocean and hear crashing waves.
Shortly after, she heard light foot steps. She didnât need to turn around to know who it was. Allowing her to hear him at all was a courtesy considering he couldâve appeared right next to her.
âYou didnât even come see me with Percy when he was this little.â she said softly.
âYes I did⌠you know I did.â
She did know. It wasnât the same, but he did come to them once. Even though that was a risk. Percy was in the crib, her nearby. The exhaustion of caring for a newborn was catching up to her. For all intents and purposes, she was asleep when he arrived back then. Then, like now, she felt his presence even if she didnât see him. She slept soundly the remainder of night, and awoke to a faint breeze and a peaceful content baby.
âYes. I do, I just wishâŚâ
Wish it couldâve been more. Wish he could have been with them. Wish the situation had been normal.
âAs do I.â Poseidon said quietly.
âWe made our choices.â
âThat we did.â
He was next to her on the balcony now. Hands on the railing, leaning slightly forward.
âWhy are you here?â She asked.
These visits, especially to her, are few and far between. Which is fine. Sheâs made her peace with Poseidon and what they had. She just prays he looks after their son however he can, and is grateful for the time they shared together- and the son it gave her.
âTo offer my blessing.â
Sally startled a little.
âBut sheâs not-â
âNot what? Mine? No. But she is yours. She is Percyâs sister. Allow me this.â
She locked eyes with him, and after a few moments slowly nodded.
He leaned in and whispered words in ancient greek. The was a faint glow surrounding the child that faded as quick as it had shown.
âWhat will it do?â
âOh, time will tell.â
âPoseidon.â
âNothing bad. You trust me enough or you wouldnt have let me nearâ he chuckled.
âYou dont need my permission.â She sniped back.
âAll the same I asked.â Calm as ever.
They stood in silence for a while longer, just being. Until quietly he spoke again.
âAre you happy Sally?â
âYesâ She responded.
She didnât know how long they stood there. Sharing each otherâs company. Eventually Poseidon leaned over and lightly kissed her cheek
âPerhaps in another lifeâŚ. we couldâve been happy as well?â
She smiled back at him, and said,
âIâd like to think so.â

⨠What I can Teach Him â¨
A talk between Percy and Paul, with some Sally towards the end
đđđđđđđđđđđđđđ
âHey Paul?â
âYeah?â
Percy and Paul were sitting on a pier overlooking the water. They had spent the afternoon together, Paul had been slowly teaching Percy how to drive and now they were taking a short break.
âCan i ask you something?â
Percy sounded oddly serious.
âOf courseâ Paul replied.
âIf something happens to me this summer, promise me youâll look after my mom okay? Promise me that youâll take care of her, and make sure sheâs happy?â
âNothings going to happen to you-â He was cut off by Percyâs response.
âIt could. It always could. But this summer⌠Just please Paul.â
âPercy, I donât understand what brought this-â
âPromise me.â He pressed.
Something is his voice sounded serious, so unlike the boy he knew. His sea green eyes were dark, and stared right into Paul. The calm water they had been gazing at, seemed rougher than it had been previously.
âI promise.â Paul held his gaze in return as he responded.
Percyâs head dropped and he sagged in relief. After a moment be lifted his head again to look at Paul.
âThank youâ
âThereâs nothing to thank me for Percy.â
Sometimes he forgets. He forgets the burden Percy holds. Heâs still adjusting to all of this after all. There are moments though, that he sees it. Where he sees the hero, the leader, the soldier. Just as quickly though, he sees the child.
This teenage boy, who just wants to make sure his mother will be okay after heâs gone. Who contemplates that reality like its probability is high and heâs considered the worst case scenario before. Paul hates how true that rings.
Itâs not fair. None of it is. Heâs just shy of 16 and shouldnât have to worry about any of this.
âCan I ask you something in return?â
Percy nodded.
âPromise youâll do whatever it takes to come home to your mother Perseus. Your her whole worldâ
Percy smiled sadly.
âIâll tryâ
They sat at the edge of the boardwalk a while longer. The heavy topic had passed as Percy started talking about a project Annabeth was working on. Paul noticed the waves had calmed some. He distantly had the thought that the rough water a moment ago may not of been natural. Perhaps it was responding to Percy⌠or perhaps they had someone listening in..
He was still listening to Percy, but his mind was still on the previous conversation.
Paul looked over his shoulder at the car.
đ đđđđđđđđđđđđđ
âMom youâll never guess what Paul showed me!â
Sally Jackson halted where she stood over the sink washing dishes when her son came barreling through the door.
Suddenly suspicious, she looked past her teenage son to her fiance closing the door behind them. Quirking a brow up she asked, âWhat did Paul teach you to do?â
Paul, in response, put a hand behind his head in a nervous gesture.
This should be interesting.
Getting no response, she slowly turned back to her son who had met her at the counter
âHotwire a car!â
He threw his hands up excitedly.
âI canât decide if Iâm more exicted that he showed me, or that a high school teacher knows how to do that?!â
The plate slipped from her hands.
Percy, no longer paying her much mind, grabbed a cookie off the stove that she made earlier, gave Paul a fist bump, and ran off to the other room.
Now, one may argue that considering all the things her son has had to do in order to survive these past few years, this shouldnât be anything really. However those are spur of the moment, life or death instances.
Paul had come up beside her where she froze and stared after her son. He gently took the plate she had lost and stood next to her to help with the dishes.
âWe had a good day. A good talk⌠and I just thought⌠I donât know. I canât teach him to swing a sword and slay a hydra, or dominate a chariot race, or how to escape the underworld, or create a hurricane, or the hundreds of other things that kid needs to know to do the things he does. I just thought, I canât do all that, but maybe I can teach him how to catch a ride home sometime if he needs it.â
Any anger she felt evaporated. She looked over at this man. This kind, gentle man who has accepted Percy and her and the craziness of their lives in stride. Not only accepted but embraced it. Who has treated her and her son in ways she long gave up on.
âYou taught my son to illegally start up a car⌠because it may save his life someday?â
Paul shrugged sheepishly
âWell when you put it that way- â.
He didnt get to finish, because Sally leaned over and kissed him. It was soft, and when she was done she rested her head on his shoulder, and felt his arms come up around her.
âWhat was that for?â
âAll of it.â

(I know nothing about cars I just thought the sentiment was cute donât come after me)
once upon a time; the only tv show brave enough to ask "exactly how fucked up can we make a family tree without including any actual incest?"
Facts
I miss tv in the 2010s every day. You could put anything on air and get a 22 episode order and a five season run. Once Upon a Time was on and it basically spit in your face and told you that Olaf the snowman was Emma's second great uncle twice removed and you just accepted it. Golden age of the silver screen
Sometimes I canât believe the show existed
(I found scraps of something I wrote years and years ago, and decided to type it up and share)
⨠Try â¨
You grow to genuinely care about the people here. Theyâve wormed their way into crevices of your heart, and you start to think this place, these people, could be your home. It almost feels like these are people you should have known all your life. You belong with them. But maybe thatâs just Henry getting to you, with his childlike innocence, adorable but crazy ideas, and the book of fairytales he always totes around. Then, like it always does, everything changes again.
Thereâs a pattern to your life. You finally feel like you belong and that youâve found your place, watch it all fall apart, then rinse and repeat. Itâs happening again. The ground beneath you crumbling, and your loosing your footing. (Eventually this has got to stop happening to you right?). Everything you thought you knew is wrong and youâve had the weirdest day of your life. Youâve slain a dragon under the library with Prince Charmingâs, your fatherâs, sword. Youâve woken your son from a comatose death like sleep that apparently broke an almost three decade long magical curse, and now - this.
You remember being a little girl, watching another girl at the group home who found her forever home. Her happily ever after. âNo one will ever look at me like thatâ you had said⌠but they do. These people in front of you look at you like you are everything that they had hoped for and more, and it scares you. Your walls are up and after the day youâve had your overwhelmed, so they stay up, you bottle up that little girl inside, and hold back after that first embrace.
Everyone youâve come to know now is different. This little place you found for yourself is forever changed. Maybe this time, one last time, it can be different. It will stick. Youâre scared to believe that. Youâre even more afraid of the alternative.
You donât know how to be loved by them, or how to give them the pieces of yourself youâve hidden away for yearsâŚ
You would like to try.
Huntr/x don't miss!
Drew my favorite people pleaser from KDH, I love this movie
(I wish I heard her sing more, like Rumi please give her and Mira some more lines girl I am BEGGING you)
our voices, without the lies
I love how the movie explored themes of friendship and girlhood, as well as the K-Pop industry and vulnerability, between women. Such as the heart-to-heart scene with Huntr/x and how none of them were wearing makeup. Or even the Free duet between Jinu and Rumi.
It's absolutely well done, and it's original. Rumi, Mira, and Zoey are so sweet to watch, and the ending made me cry the first and second time I watched it. How Rumi struggles with her identity, and how Mira has a tough exterior to her, and how Zoey feels she's too much. It's truly so beautiful.
Rumi is my favorite of the three, but i love all three of them and I remember the line towards the end in Zoeyâs head about being too much but also feeling like your not doing enough and it really hit me. Iâve had those thoughts, and many have. And just as many can relate to any of the girls struggles, or with the other characters as well. Its just such a good film
(with a banger of a soundtrack)
Huntrix don't miss đ
