I think I liked the rural town drawing better

My last drawing like this took 8 hours. So I, in my naivety thought that this too, would take 8 hours. I was wrong. It took fourteen

I basically wanted to sorta re-do my drawing before last and also see if I was capable of doing the frieren angle (also a return to my more comfortable style)

I did succeed most of the way but now he looks dead inside because I couldn’t figure out how to draw emotion at this angle (I do think the hair is shaded better in the xerxes drawing

So for part of a college assignment I had to redesign a book cover so I did one of the fma light novels (YES FMA HAS LIGHT NOVELS AND I LOVE THEM)

It’s very messy and not to my usual level of rendering because I was not about to spent any more time on a homework assignment than necessary and I was already going insane

Guys please read the light novels I need more people to talk about them with. My favorite is valley of white petals (obviously), but for a start I’d highly recommend the abducted alchemist. It gives such peak fanfiction vibes but is technically canon (to the manga atleast)

Wanted to try something new with shading and I think my art style regressed

Thinking about Edward Elric and his hair, specifically his braid.

Did he decide to learn how to braid it himself, post-arm loss? When he's missing that arm functionally, does he ask someone else to do it? The times that it's merely tied and not braided, is that something he knows how to do one-handed, or does he need help for even that much?

How much practice and effort has gone into maintaining his hair so it's not only braided/tied but Looks good while doing so, good enough that no one would ever think to ask? If Alphonse helps, the same question extends to him, with how big and clunky the armor's hands are compared to Ed's hair.

Idk if I have any particular direction with this but as someone who has to practice braiding hair with two abled arms I have a lot of thoughts and feelings on this concept exploration.

(Tbh I suspect I'm blanking on scenes/panels where he's seen tying it up which answers some of these thoughts but also I want to know More about it you know?)

As I said I would in the comments, here’s my attempt at showing how one would braid one handed(I even did it with my left). It surprisingly only took about 15 minutes of trial and error to figure it out, the main holdup was the fact I have zero clue how to make an even half decent tutorial.

I was feeling nostalgic and decided to re-draw this techno drawing from when I was 13. It’s almost exactly 4 years old(closer to 4 years and 3 weeks) and was from when I just started drawing fanart. I don’t think I even had tumblr yet. The pose is really boring but I didn’t want to change it too much from the original drawing
