I woke up this morning feeling the need to start writing again. This climate we are in has taken my desire to write and silenced it. Then I realized today Ida B. Wells celebrates 155 years of touching our lives and our world. So we must write. "If this work can contribute in any way toward proving this, and at the same time arouse the conscience of the American people to a demand for justice to every citizen, and punishment by law for the lawless, I shall feel I have done my race a service". #idabwells

This week my loving and empathic son came home and told me on one day an older kid at camp cut himself asking for help, a younger girl who has clearly experienced her own trauma hit him with a stuffed animal, and another little boy had an emotional breakdown. Even when we work to create the safest environments for our kids at home they will be exposed to other's trauma when they go out into the world. I'm grateful my son has the ability to feel it all and bring it home for us to process together. He is my greatest muse.
