Betsy DeVos - “I will personally sacrifice 14,000 children for capitalism”
Furthermore, you know how we’ve all been told a thousand times that it doesn’t affect children? Yeah turns out that was wildly inaccurate. It appears that it DOES in fact affect children, but it manifests differently in them than in adults. Swathes of kids from the hardest-hit countries are landing in the ICU with a “mystery illness,” but every single one of them has so far either tested positive for covid (aka: currently has the virus) or they’ve tested negative, BUT, Coronavirus antibodies have been found in their systems (aka: they had asymptomatic COVID, recovered, and have now been struck down by this secondary illness). It’s so far only been found in kids who either currently have the virus or kids who have had it.
UK, Italy, Spain and several other countries were reporting this weeks ago, and reports are just now coming out from the US, but bare this in mind. Not only can kids spread it if social distancing isn’t maintained, but it can in fact make them just as sick as adults.
Stay the fuck at home.
Here’s a source for the childhood syndrome OP was talking about. Since that article was written, 85 children have ended up sick, 38 in the ICU, and 3 have died- in New York alone. The oldest was 15. The youngest was two.
Stay the fuck home.
Honest Advice On Relationships And Life In General By This Balloon Artist
"I try to make commentary about, or poke fun at, social media. The balloons were a social media trope often used in bridal showers and gender reveals, so they were a natural progression of that idea. I love the contrast of profound, funny, or challenging quotes spelled in silly balloons. And since another common cliche is endless selfies, I tend to put myself in most of the photos. They often make people cringe, but the cringe is the point,“ Michael told Bored Panda.
Well, one teacher is pissed.
Not pissed...
The teacher has provided a very thoughtful analysis of issues that must be addressed BEFORE we can SAFELY reopen PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
...proactive.
I’m just going to jump on here because this is my families reality at the moment. My mother is a high school theatre teacher and has been teaching for the last ~30 years.
One of the big things my state has been championing for going back to school is using larger rooms such as theaters, gyms, etc.
My mother’s Theater seats 120 people, which is on the bigger side for a public high school. Here is what that 6 feet apart looks like in the seats. Each white X marks a seat that cannot be used. The blue post-its are where they can.
16 seats. Out of 120. We measured the stage as well, to try and find room for kids to sit on-stage. 15 seats. This is one of the biggest rooms on the campus, not including the gym. 30 students, not including the teacher.
Average class size in her school before the pandemic started is 35 at the lowest. I’ve been in high school classes that range closer to 45.
There is an extremely confusing schedule still being hammered out that would involve class sizes being shrunk and finagled around, the semesters changed to quarters etc. etc. The expectation is that the teachers will sanitize their classrooms between the classes. Which is a pain, but teachers will absolutely do that. Good teachers go way above and beyond for their students.
And then the district told them that they have to provide their own PPE.
I live in a big city. You still can’t find good masks around here, gloves are in short supply. Hand sanitizer has finally been swooping back in, lysol wipes or anything like that are not. As of 7/8/2020, their union is still fighting tooth and nail for PPE to be provided. All while our Covid-19 cases continue to explode up.
I’m in California. She’s in a really good district, with decent funding and a great facility. We’re literally in one of the best-case scenario areas. I can’t imagine how the fuck these negotiations are going elsewhere, places with less funding in states run by fucking idiots.
Physically coming back to school is not feasible. There is no way without a lot of funding, that is not going to just magically appear, to keep students and teachers safe. Trying to do so with what we know now, with the preventative measures we have, with the funding the district has available, is going to end up killing people.
Oh hey I haven’t yelled about voting in a while
Reposting this because some of y’all need a reminding.
Another reminder:
VOTE YOUR WHOLE BALLOT.
A Democratic President does nothing if Congress is controlled by Republicans. Your local elections are important, too. (It took us 20 years, but you notice we don’t have issues with our sheriff out here in Phoenix now we’ve voted out Joe Arpaio.)
Don’t skip any. Look up names on your phone while you’re in the ballot booth if you have to. VOTE YOUR WHOLE BALLOT.
A PSA because a lot of people don’t know this: You CAN take your phone into the ballot booth, no one will stop you. You CAN google names from inside the ballot booth, no one will stop you. The only time you can get in trouble is, in some states, if you take a photo of your ballot. You CAN also take a long time voting. There are lots of booths usually, don’t worry about the line if you need to think about anything. Voting is not a high school exam. You’re allowed to bring your phone. Please do that in case there’s something on the ballot you don’t understand!
You can also register to vote by mail! That means you can use google and take all the time you need to fill out your ballot! I don’t know how it works in other states but California specifically has made voting by mail extremely easy and hassle free and most people I know vote by mail.
VOTE GUYS PLEASE GOD
Me lol
Everyone young and old you are at risk. The young, you live in the age of technology where being bored is non-existent. There is no need to knock on deaths door for jokes because he will answer. Wear your masks. Keep your distance. Wash your hands. You don’t need to hang out with friends and go places to feel alive. You are not immune. The pain in this doctors voice says it all, many will not be chosen. Everyone be safe.
@yemme We have no room whatsoever in our hospital, the other day we had 10 codes, and 15 patients waiting in ER for a bed upstairs. We are at capacity every single day, we still have about 12-15 people waiting in ER, why, because we are completely full up, we literally are just waiting for people to die, so that there are rooms upstairs. They’ve converted every possible wing in our hospital into a COVID unit, our outpatient surgery is closed, and they’ve taken the beds from there and moved everything upstairs. People seriously need to get their shit together here, in Texas.
@dropkickdisco6 Please take care of yourself. Try to keep a peace of mind in this madness. The play book NY went through didn’t seem to scare the nation. The freezer trucks of bodies and funeral parlors not able to bury the dead. People dying alone. This shit is in the air. Not because no one isn’t around you doesn’t mean it’s not lingering. Wear your masks at all times outside of your home people. The moment you step outside do not take it off. Label that bitch Covid as airborne. Try and stay safe hun the best you can. Real talk, don’t even go home if you have loved ones, find somewhere else to stay. America, we are fucked.
WEAR YOUR MASKS. SOCIAL DISTANCING. WASH YOUR HANDS.

Yeah look at all these illegal activities that completely warranted being killed/brutalized by police
Police officers have arrested a man for filming an arrest even though they acknowledged it was legal for him to do so– and he’s a State Congressman
The police officers seemed more concerned with calling Rep. John Walker a “race baiter” for doing something completely legal than they were in upholding the law. But the kicker is that Rep. Walker had already been arrested for the same thing years ago, which is why he fought for the law (and won) in the first place.

YOURE TELLING ME THIS IS WHAT THEY'VE BEEN SHOOTING PROTESTERS WITH????
YEP! These are meant to be skipped into the ground and then spin into people's legs and dissuade people from advancing or move them away. FIRING THEM AT PEOPLE'S HEADS IS 100% AGAINST THE PROPER USE. AND THEY ARE SHOOTING THESE AT MEDICS. DOCTORS, EMTS, AND NURSES. AT CLOSE RANGE. THESE CAN BREAK YOUR SKULL. THEY ARE NOT A JOKE. THIS IS LESS LETHAL LIKE A BASEBALL BAT IS LESS LETHAL THAN A SWORD. BOTH STILL CAN KILL.
I only found out today they’re meant to be fired at the ground to bounce back at protesters... I don’t think I’ve ever seen the cops use them that way
They're also often actually metal with a thin coating of rubber.
Hi.
Your buddy from the ammo industry here.
1) these are absolutely not supposed to be fired directly at people, they are supposed to be fired indirectly.
2) they can kill and seriously injure people
3) this type of "rubber bullet" (often called a "foam baton" or "rubber baton" round) is a lightweight projectile that will nonetheless fuck you up. I've loaded and worked with foam batons and rubber shot for a long time and in all the time I've worked with people who were loading and firing rubber bullets with police departments I've never encountered any version of a 37 or 40mm baton round that has a "thin layer of rubber over a metal core," which is a description I've seen a lot of in the last few days and wanted to correct.
And yet...
Yep, ACAB.
What I will say, and I know it's cold comfort, is that everyone in photos like these has an incredible case against these PDs because the rounds they're firing say right on the casing that they're not to be fired except by properly trained users in appropriate ways so either this is a trained person who ignored the training and can be held liable or this is an untrained person whose department should be held liable
They 100% know this is not how these are supposed to be used and they are intentionally misusing them in ways they are aware make the weapons more lethal and will later claim they didn't know better. They're lying, and everyone should know they're lying.
They killed him. And no one is reporting it.
Fuck…
The last gif is real… Think about it
The white dudes are the only ones with their guns pointed at him
The brother steady lookin’ like he’s surrendering and the white man still wants him shot #wutlessness
This reminds me of the shooting a scene from MIB where he shot that suspicious ass white girl
