So given I’ve dried up my theories on KH for now and have to wait until new information comes out Would anyone be interested in Genshin Impact theories? I probably would make a new blog for it but I have a pretty big theory about Dainsleif, Kaeya and the Unknown Goddess. Which if true would shake up the Genshin fandom quite a bit LMAO. But if you’re interested in knowing please let me know! I wanted to see how my fandoms crossed each other for the fanbase of this blog.

So rewatching Re:CoM cutscenes because MoM highlighted the Riku and Zexion fight yet again as a big important scene. 358/2 days did the same. So here’s a breakdown. Quick prior scene between Axel and Zexion occurs that kind of sets the stage for what’s to come. Zexion realises all his allies “scents” are gone in the castle except his, Axel’s and Marluxia’s (at that time). Axel appears to make a bet on who’ll be next and Zexion jests that he thought it’d be Axel. Axel makes his bet on Marluxia. They talk a little more over what to do with Riku and Axel brings up that Riku took down Lexaeus and he is a danger. Zexion replies “You know that is not how I do things” and asks for the data on Riku’s home.

After Marluxia is slain by Sora, Zexion goes to confront Riku. He mentions Sora is in the castle. He then starts to ask Riku if he can face him and if he is not ashamed of the darkness in his heart. He then mentions Sora’s goal is to face the darkness and the darkness is Riku. Zexion then says if Riku does not believe him to go see the truth with his own eyes and gives Riku the Destiny Islands card. Riku goes to call Destiny Islands his home but Zexion finishes the line for him <- keep this in mind Riku goes to Destiny Islands and Zexion appears there saying “Surely you knew this would happen.” This is where the scene that also happens in 358/2 days that occurs on Day 276. Only real difference between the two is that Xion is not there and does not begin to have her identity crisis. Zexion mentions to Riku that he has been to a number of worlds in his memory before this one and in those worlds he only met dark beings. That all is left in Riku’s heart is dark memories. Zexion mentions Riku’s memories of home are all gone. Now this is where I think Zexion starts projecting onto Riku. We now know from Ienzo’s character story that he was originally from somewhere before Radiant Garden that he has no real strong memories of. A little bit of evidence that Zexion is projecting is because Riku’s reply is “That’s a lie! I remember everyone from the islands.” Riku names everyone and mentions they’re his closest friends. To which Zexions’s reply is “And who threw those friends away? Maybe it’s your own actions you’ve forgotten You destroyed your home!.” Now that last part is also an incredibly important thing to highlight. Zexion was the one who suggested to Ansem the Wise to build the labs to experiment on Xehanort. Which in turn put in the series of events that destroyed Radiant Gardens and turned it into Hollow Bastion. Zexion played a major part in that both by starting the series of events and playing a major apart in it. And we know from KH3 and his character story that he felt incredibly guilty about it. Zexion and Riku both destroyed their homes in pursuit of knowledge about the unknown. Zexion then sends Riku to the night Destiny Islands was destroyed. He begins a speech saying “"The islands you grew up on were sundered, scattered… Many hearts were lost to the darkness. Because of what YOU did!” He summons an illusion of Riku and points to it. “You hated being an islander, cut off from other worlds. So you opened the door to darkness and destroyed the islands. YOU did that! And now you belong to the darkness. Look at what you are!” He makes the illusion Riku fade into darkness and become a darkside for Riku to defeat. Again this scene is big projection vibes of what also happened to Radiant Gardens that Zexion had a part to play in. Riku defeats the Darkside only to find Zexion disguised as Sora. “Sora” strikes out at Riku saying he can see exactly what Riku has become. “Sora” harms Riku with the light and asks how can the light hurt Riku and if he had really become a creature of the darkness. That Riku is no longer himself and just become a pawn of the darkness. It’s now time for Riku to face the light. “Sora” then traps Riku in the light. Thanks to Namine interfering as Kairi, she’s able to free Riku from the light by getting him to accept that he’s darkness but not to fear the light and to walk both paths, the path to Dawn. Riku slices through the light and cuts “Sora”, forcing himself to reveal himself as Zexion. Now a really important thing to bring in here is that during the Namine scene and the scene afterwards the dialogue both suggests Zexion ACTUALLY used light and not an ILLUSION of light. Zexion asks Riku how he was able to find him when he was in the light. Riku replies “You reek of darkness. Even the light can’t block the smell.” Which shocks Zexion. Zexion then says his classic line of “This is absurd. Then I shall make you see… That your hopes are nothing. Nothing but a mere illusion!” prompting the fight between Riku and Zexion. Riku defeats him then they quickly talk about how Riku is still on the side of darkness. Zexion does mention that Riku was always terrified of the darkness before which again possibly him projecting on to Riku. Anyway Riku strikes Zexion and he flees. Zexion retreats to the basement and asks “What is he?!” about Riku. “No one’s EVER worn the darkness the way he does! It’s impossible!” Axel then appears with Replica Riku and startles Zexion. Zexion realises it’s the replica and says how they can use the replica to defeat the real Riku. Axel asks the Replica if he’d like to be real and that he needs powers the real Riku doesn’t have to achieve it. Replica Riku then grabs Zexion by the collar of his coat and either absorbs Zexion’s powers or his darkness (probably the latter). Axel ends the scene by saying “So sorry, Zexion. You just found out way too much.”

Also extra about why Zexion was probably projecting, his battle quotes in 358/2 days is

"You think you can be forgiven?!".

"You brought it upon yourself!"

Can't sleep so here's the whole of Ienzo's storyline written on mobile from memory.

Ienzo is not originally from Radiant Garden. He has vague abstract memories of hearts but no real strong memories. It's unknown if he lost his parents prior to coming to Radiant Garden or after. It's also unknown if Ienzo's parents are dead or just separated. He just "lost" his parents.

Ienzo was adopted by Ansem The Wise and raised by all the apprentices. Ansem TW and Even doted on him the most with both becoming his main guardians. It's also mentioned that after Apprentice Xehanort arrives Xehanort took Ienzo under his wing as a student.

Ienzo some point after BBS suggests to Ansem The Wise to build the labs and experiment on Xehanort. This leads to experiments on themselves which leads to the apprentices + Lea and Isa falling to darkness. Ansem TW is cast into the realm of darkness. Shortly before this but unclear when, Ansem TW was experimenting on children. It is unclear if Ienzo was one of them or not. Ienzo is still a child during all of this.

Ienzo's heart was cast off and became a heartless but his body remained. It became Zexion who grew up within the Organisation 13. Originally Zexion was second in command to Xemnas outranking Saix. Zexion was questioned by Xigbar over what Xemnas' secret was before being given the information of Ventus being located in Castle Oblivion. Zexion would be later sent to Castle Oblivion to work on the Replica programme and help find the traitors.

At Castle Oblivion Zexion helped create Xion and Replica Riku alongside Vexen and used his scent/serene gaze ability to track everyone in the Castle. It is unknown if he knew DiZ was Ansem the Wise and just omitted the information. Regardless Zexion reported and followed the whereabouts of multiple people. Following the death of his two allies, Zexion decided to confront Riku. He took on the form of Sora and fought with Riku and trapped him in light. Riku almost succumbed to the light which is suggested to not be an illusion before Namine saved Riku and convinced him to accept the darkness. After accepting darkness, Riku wounded Zexion and made his disguise as Sora fall. They fight further and Zexion retreats. Back in the basements of Castle Oblivion as Zexion recovers, Axel appears with Replica Riku and gets Replica Riku to absorb Zexion's power, killing him. It turns out Saix sent Axel as an assassin to kill Zexion so Saix could take his place and get more information on Subject X.

Some point after the events of Kingdom Hearts 2, Ienzo is recompleted. He is now late teens/young adult after his body having grown up as Zexion. He helps get everything back on track and begins taking over Ansem The Wise's role. Ienzo begins helping Sora free the hearts trapped inside of him but omits the information on Ventus' location. If he was aware Apprentice Xehanort was Terra's body like suggested in BBS, he also omits this information. He behind the scenes, with help from Demyx and Vexen, creates replicas for the hearts in Sora to return to.

After the events of KH3 he helps Kairi dive into her memories to find out where Sora is.

Forgot to mention but some time after Zexion's death, someone destroyed his weapon on his grave. Possibly concealing it from either the player or Maleficent who is seeking the book of prophecies.
