On June 2, 1991, passenger flight 283 from LA to Newark lost all contact with air traffic control somewhere above Kansas. The aircraft never landed, and no remains were located after an extensive search.

Ever since, rumors of a "ghost plane" have surfaced among aviation enthusiasts, who claim to have seen flight 283 attempting landings at various airports around the world. Over the years, descriptions of the plane present it as gradually more decayed. These sightings have sometimes preceded aviation accidents in the area.

Retired air traffic controllers claim to have heard radio interference in the 121.50 MHz band, reserved for emergency communications, around the time of "ghost plane" reports. Despite that, no communication has ever been firmly established with the craft.

They were all happy when the plane took off. Waving. Hugging at the gates under a hazy but sunny sky. Families saying bye to eachother, that they'd be back soon.

Reports said the air felt off that day, charged, like the way the skys vibrate before lightning. Some say some of the passengers seemed off as well. Forced smiles. Hollow eyes. Voices empty as they said "I'll call you when we land".

Those calls never came.

The search lasted months, but nothing ever came of it. No debris, no blackbox. No ransom note. Eventually, as all things we can't explain are, it became a footnote, a curiosity.

They're still up there, you know. People see 'em sometimes. A plane flying too low, slowly falling apart at the seams. And if you listen close on the right radio waves, you might hear something. Real quiet.

A whisper in a bone dry throat like it's full of dust and rocks. People weeping so softly in the background you might think it's just the static.

"This is flight 283, Jim Wilson. Please. Let us come home."

What helped me write trauma better is remembering that the nervous system learns predictions. If danger used to come after quiet, calm can feel threatening. If kindness used to come with a price, kindness can feel suspicious. So healing is not just “they know they’re safe now.” Healing is the slow, annoying, deeply unfair process of teaching the body that the old prediction is not always the present truth.

!! procreate 30s speedpaint (flashing warning) !!

i've been getting some asks about the process for Chimeric Deity, so i'll try to show it a bit!

i added a bunch of texture using a texture overlay brush! in procreate, hartz/currawong/tarkine are default old library ones that i primarily use

planning is an essential part of this, since i separate the layered parts into separate uv-wrapped planes in blender

the result is a silly looking deconstructed fellow across several pngs + separated out bg

i don't record my blender processes usually, but basically every segment is mapped to a 2d plane that is layered

animation uses blender as well, i primarily use shape keys for these cause it's pretty quick basically i move around the segments for a few different keys, keyframe them, then alter their framerates/frame placement

when rendered, i put it into a video editor to up the saturation a bit (my lighting was a little meh in blender) + i added the star gifs that i made awhile ago for a different piece to add some more pizzaz

and there we go! a journey across multiple programs procreate -> blender -> vid editor -> (ezgif video to gif lol)

hope that helps a little, i've done a couple explanations for similar pieces before with a personal #my resources tag but i miss tagging sometimes
