I was rereading the comic to make an animation, but I realized something: if I'm not mistaken, Cuphead has suicidal tendencies, right? So why, in the forest, when he was being chased by the Searchers, does it seem like he's actually afraid of dying? Sorry if that was explicitly stated in the comic.

Idk if i'll do a good job at explaining this, But suicidal ideation is a little more complicated than that.

Death is not something he wants, its something he believes he deserves. He thinks that it'll suck, but it'll at least be an end to everything. He doesn't WANT to die, but he feels he needs to. He feels its all he deserves or that it'll be better for everyone else.

but, As you've seen, there is also still ONE THING that is keeping Cuphead from leaving altogether:

He doesn't want to leave Mugman. He can't stand the thought of just letting himself die and leaving Mugman alone.

No it can't be himself. He can't let it happen. He'd rather it be by the whims of fate itself. He'd have an easier time explaining to mugman that there was nothing he could have done to prevent it and that he's sorry.

He'd have to be dragged kicking and screaming to hell so that atleast he could tell mugman one day

He tried, but it wasn't enough.
