…I want to just draw a fashion zine of just Miss Piggy, oh my god. she is so underrated and underutilized, where is my succession-like muppets satire thing LOL I want it so bad. let me do it disney call me pls
EDIT FOR JAN 2025: I’M MAKING A ZINE OF MISS PIGGY FASHIONS. It is happening, I have heard your comments. Please stay tuned to my instagram for updates!! Here’s a preview:
ugh sorry guys, I got a job literally right after posting this and it’s been insanely busy, forgive me…. I’m gonna post what I was gonna put in the zine here, no need to pay or anything (but if you like I have a kofi, I’d hugely appreesh hehe)
sorry to string you guys along for I guess a whole damn year, hahahah
Mass Effect Characters that I think are black coded or poc coded since this game has like 3 black characters in the entire series but one dies, one is meh and the other is the worst fucking character in the series who’s every negative black stereotype in the book
Jaal Ama Darav- Fucking obvious. Tbh most Anagara are black. Maybe all of them. Yeah all of them.
Almost all Asari. Like I can’t even choose one because every one I meet gives me black woman vibes, even Liara, especially with how they’re sexualized constantly . I think all Asari are black women ot just women of color (shut the fuck up don’t say ‘they’re blue of course they’re woman of color’ I will eat your soul) but I’m claiming Liara, Matriarch Benezia, PeeBee, Samara, Morinth and Aria mostly
Most if not all Krogan but I’m claiming Wrex, Drack, Eve, Kesh and Grunt as black. The others can be whatever
Vetra, Syd and Kandros are my only black turians
If I’m claiming Salarians I’m only claiming Kirrahe and Kallo because Kallo reminds me of my nerdy ass brother
All prothean’s are black because they remind me of the angara
Thane is black and since he’s like the only Drell I know besides his son he’s the only one I claim as black plus his son. Maybe that one drell Liara likes or whatever but I don’t remember his name and I don’t care to google it
As for the other races like the Volus, Batarians, Vorcha and Hanar they can be whatever. I feel like Quarians or some sort of European coded but then you have Reegar who sounds like fucking soldier from TF2 so idk I’m not touching it
Also don’t come for me with “Oh why are you headcanoning most of the krogan as black they’re aggressive that’s stereotyping” which like in the game all krogans are stereotyped as aggressive but you have those who aren’t like Kesh but she’s treated as such by Tann and others just because she’s Krogan even though she’s a scientist who wants to use her brains, Eve who’s physically restrained even when she’s the one in danger all because of the stereotype of all Krogan being violent when she prefers to use her brains and even criticizes other Krogan for their old archaic ways of thinking with violence, like they’re treated how black women are treated all day every day 24/7 365. I’ll headcanon them as black if I want to.
If you want to know why I claim most of these characters as black feel free to ask but so far this is my list. Also I might do a thing where I draw a human design for the characters I think are black.
And if you disagree with these let me know why. Even though I most likely won’t read it because nine times out of ten when someone objects to a non human character being head cannoned as black it’s for racist reasons so I genuinely don’t really care if you disagree
Liara: we know she's a backseat driver, is very careful when she does drive. has surprising road rage, gets frustrated when people arent as good of a driver as she is.
Ashley: aggressive driver, serves through traffic like crazy. not afraid to lay on the horn when she's frustrated. is the type to get loaded into street races.
Miranda: a very good driver, took driving lessons and low key shames people who haven't. militant about passengers wearing their seatbelts. Will text or phone call while driving though.
Tali: I don't think the flotilla ships are big enough to have anything more than a rudimentary public tram. she doesn't have a license and has no desire to drive.
Samara: a surprisingly agressive driver, serves around other cars but at least she uses her turn signal. Will not accept criticism about her driving.
Jack: never got a license but drives anyways. do not let her drive it will not end well. Would rather start a car chase than pull over for police. has a "how's my driving" sticker with Shepard's phone number
Traynor: i honestly think she has too much anxiety to drive. but also hates letting Shepard drive, she's scared for her little gay life.
Kelly: one of the best drivers here, ignores her omni tool, uses turn signals, generally does everything right. very talkative while she drives, but will get distracted and forget to turn where she's supposed to.
EDI: EDI was programmed to pilot the Normandy, not drive a car. so I don't think she'd be a good driver. uses ship terms to refer to parts of the car.
Vetra: another very good driver besides the fact that she doesnt use her seatbelt. absolutely does not let Sid get away with not wearing hers though.
Suvi: regularly rear ends other drivers because she's distracted. probably best if Ryder does most of the driving because Suvi isn't a huge fan.
Peebee: blasts music with the windows closed, you can feel your whole body vibrate woth the bass. likes to street race and would probably get into drag racing as a result. has truck nuts on her car ironically.
Cora: second best driver, like Gil she's very careful about following the rules of the road. thinks anyone whos honking is honking at her. I can see her being kind of a car buff, and being interested in customizing her car.
Kaidan: listen, everyone who claims Canadians are so polite and demure has never seen one drive. years of pent up anger come out when Kaidan drives. no where near as bad as Zaeed, he still follows the rules and laws. extremely animated when raging, and comes up with the most creative insults.
Garrus: as much as garrus loves to rib Shepard about their driving, he's barely any better. his time at c-sec at least drilled basic rules of the road into him, but he's still an asshole who'll cut people off.
Thane: prefers to drive in complete silence, maybe plays some white noise while he drives. do not try talking to him he's not listening. very careful on the road, hasn't been in an accident once.
Jacob: generally a good driver, just doesn't use his turn signals. good at multitasking while driving, so talking, listening to the radio, eating, he can do it. will gladly take the role of designated driver
Mordin: I think he hates driving, he get too in his own thoughts and forgets he's driving. would rather let shepard drive than do the driving
Zaeed: worst driver here. worse than Shepard in that he doesn't even try to follow the rules of the road. his road rage is horrific, has fully gotten out of his car to fist fight someone. would drive a pickup with trucknuts.
Cortez: best driver here. very relaxed when driving, very in his element. this man is a Saint on the road, not an ounce of road rage in his body
Vega: it's a miracle he hasn't been killed, he never wears a seatbelt, never uses his turn signals, and pulls illegal turns all the time. drives with his windows open and radio absolutely blasting music.
Joker: would be the best driver if he wasn't such a jackass. regularly flips off other drivers he thinks are being stupid. thinks he's the best driver on the road, and he is, just don't tell him that
Jaal: has an angaran license, though I don't think he drives a traditional vehicle. more along the lines of some sort of atv or motorcycle type thing. a good driver, has definitely modified his vehicle.
Liam: I honestly don't think he has a license. he prefers public transit or to let other people drive. he's not that great of a driver when he does though.
Gil: has zooped up his car and treats it like his baby. will not let anyone else drive it, ESPECIALLY not Ryder. will fight someone if they hit his car. follows the rules of the road religiously.
Reyes: Street races, will try and goad other people into street racing. has lost his license multiple times. amazingly enough has never crashed.
horrible and disgusting aughts lesbian objectification aside, I'm just so pleasantly surprised and delighted by Traynor and her romance
I expected the typical "mousy virginal nerdy girl discovers she's Beautiful All Along thanks to the persistent attention of someone much more sexy and/or important" trope. I expected to have to browbeat this subordinate with reassurance that, yes yes, Thee Commander Shepard is into her, yes yes she's beautiful, yes yes she's good enough, etc etc etc.
so it was just an absolute pleasure to go through her romance and discover that actually! Traynor is quite vain, unapologetically high maintenance, sexually confident and experienced and lowkey totally walks all over Shepard, as she should, as soon as she catches a whiff she wants a piece
girls love the overgrown megastructure. girls want to live in the overgrown megastructure. girls want to build communities and societies in the overgrown megastructure
'Enjoy it despite its flaws' is one thing, but Mass Effect somehow invented its own category: 'simultaneously one of the most flawed and the most well-crafted sci-fi stories I've ever experienced'. These games are incredible. They’re the worst. All the women are sexualized. All the women have deeply flawed and complex personalities without being either demonized or romanticized. The first available f/f ship seems to be written along the guidelines of 'what would a straight man find hot'. As the games go on, they effortlessly include multiple same sex romance options given just as much care and development as the the opposite sex ones. You can play as a xenophobic murderhobo asshole. You can play as someone genuinely caring but also harsh, who inspires growth and co-operation wherever you go but who makes hard choices when you have to. You can kill civilians and punch reporters and commit genocide. You can stop a generational war and mediate peace and save several species from extinction. The robots are stereotypically evil cannon fodder. The robots are deeply complex with a tragic history. Your team mates are assholes with xenophobic opinions or justifications for police brutality and genocide, or they just want excuses to Do Murder. You team mates are deeply flawed and can be urged to grow alongside you. The most important aliens are all humanoids. There are plant aliens and jellyfish aliens and insect aliens and elephant aliens and aliens who can’t share an atmosphere with us. You have to drive around countless identically boring planets with little to show for it. You get to discover hidden secrets and civilisations millions of years old and live through some of the most emotionally harrowing scenes in storytelling history. I am going absolutely insane about it.
Pt. 2 of Mass Effect things that are so fucking funny, imagine you're a Krogan chillin on Tuchanka feelin' good about yourself when a sentient bag of water walks in with the Krogan equivalent of a living Barbie doll, high fives the president, bitch slaps a foreign dignitary, kills a demigod, and then leaves without any further explanation
Specifically, the Asari preference for interspecies love saved the galaxy. Thanks to interactions with Leviathans and Protheans, we can assume that most species that reach the citadel first become dominant, conquering or enslaving the others. However, the Asari's unique ability - and inherent desire - to harness the genetic diversity of other species incentivised true collaboration. That collaboration was necessary to build and fire The Crucible.
Furthermore, I would speculate that "Athame," the Prothean who bestowed revelations upon the Asari, may have had such an outcome in mind.
