My special order Melody doll has come in and she has....no perma panties!!!!

American girl has shipped my so-called “special ordered” Melody doll with supposed no perma panties. But we’ll see if they deliver the right dolll...

It’s just strange that my doll is considered special ordered when apparently AG was supposed to discontinue the perma panty dolls. Although it seems that AG turned into a buisnsss mogul that only cares about getting rid of their back stock first than satisfying the customer.

Please tumblr AG fans and admires put out the word that these perma panty dolls are still being sold after almost two years ago the company released a statement that they were no longer going to make these dolls. Though I guess they never vowed to not sell them to uninformed customers. But I’m not an uninformed customer, I am a very devout fan and it hurts that they can’t give me a newer doll without the perma panties because they want to meet a business quota instead of satisfying a longtime doll collector.

Dear original American girl collectors, the company we loved is just not the same any more.....

I went to the American girl doll store in Dallas and was told it was impossible for me to get a Melody doll without “Perma-panties” or a doll with sowed on underwear. You see I was under the impression that these dolls were discontinued but it turns out that because AG has so much back stock of these perma panty dolls, they only want to sell these dolls from now on till they get rid of all of them.

I just got off the phone with American Girl and they had to special order my doll without perma panties, but they are still unsure that I might have been sent a perma panty doll. I just think that is not right because I’ve had stellar customer service before and this is such a let down that they can’t guarantee a doll without sown on underwear. It’s just not the company I remember who use to do anything to please the customer and make my requests for a doll happen.

Anyways my doll with supposed no perma panties is on the way....we’ll see if AG delivered the right doll. If not they might have lost a long time customer and devout collector:(

American Girl has introduced a doll from the Civil Rights era

For 30 years, millions of parents have bought their children coveted American Girl dolls, likely due in no small part to their “educational” merit. Each doll represents an important era in US history — or at least its white history. But the company is disrupting their nondiverse legacy  by introducing Melody Ellison, who hails from the civil rights era. She represents a specific region and culture of the era.

Could they not have just made a Brazilian american girl doll, instead of making a white american girl doll whose story is that she travels to brazil and “discovers herself”? Like make an american girl of Brazilian heritage who is going to brazil to visit her relatives? This seems kind of colonialist for american girl to be doing.

Melody on the cover of her first book-I love her dress. According to the back, she loves singing and is trying to decide what song to sing at a church performance when a tragedy strikes. It sounds really good! Time for me to start saving up!
