im curious. people who know shit about historical accuracy, which agnes/agatha hairstyle was more accurate? was the Annie cut something "modern" girls would've had in the 1900s or was that literally just an 80s style they superimposed onto the illustrations?

Alright, so probably the hottest take I have is that BeForever's outfits aren't historically inaccurate for their respective time periods, they're just inaccurate for the characters they had.

For Example Samantha's Meet Outfit is 99.9% based on this 1906 postcard:

But given the books were just repackaging of the OG series, Samantha is still spending the first 5 books under Grandmary's roof, and this outfit is more in like for living with Uncle Gard and Cordelia than Grandmary.

I feel like BeForever wouldn't have been hated as bad if AG:

Did more to showcase the historical inspiration instead of just half assing it like they do with most of their lines and projects

Make new characters for the timelines they wanted to use (Obviously I know that's not the most reasonable idea but still, it would've let them get away with doing frilly outfits and not have it be out of character)

Alternatively, they could have released with new stories set after the "Main Story" so they could have cake of characters people knew and still have the new fun outfits. Still would be hard to justify for Kit, but we can chalk that up to Ruthie giving her the puppy dog eyes or something.

Hello American Girl doll Tumblr! Long time lurker here, I follow a few of your blogs out of nostalgia and admire the artistry you all put into your custom work on dolls! I've especially been enjoying the pride posts this month!

I make people-sized pride flower crowns for friends/etc. and as I was going through my flower stash I realized what I could do with some of the flowers I have that are too small or fragile for the regular sized crowns! So, behold, some AG-sized flower crowns I am looking for homes for!

I sized them for the AG doll head circumference (the crown diameter is around 5") but they would probably also fit similarly sized dolls/bears/etc. as well!

I'd like to sell them for $10 + shipping. If you DM me I can make you a custom listing on my Etsy to buy them so it is less sketchy-stranger-on-the-internet. I just don't want to connect my Etsy to my Tumblr publicly since it involves my real world info. lol

As much as I hate the Beforever rebrand and how it messed up a lot of stuff in the company, I will never not be curious about how they would have redesigned Kirsten. What would they have changed her meet outfit to? What would her weird hyperrealistic book cover look like? Would she have gotten a new mystery? What would her Journey book be like?
