calculated guesses

“who’s performing?” the question of her twin sister is enough for her to look around excitedly, always enjoying it when someone good is giving a show. it seems to be the case tonight as she watches all the on-lookers, everyone singing along as the busker takes full control of the crowd.
tori prides herself as someone who’s regularly sharp at remembering things. after all, she wouldn’t have probably passed as a pre-med student at seongnam university if she isn’t. her excellent marks back in high school serves as a sure exemplary of the exceeded expectations of her. but there are certain times in her life where she finds herself slipping; for example, tasks that require patience. sit her down in a room of silence and a puzzle in front of her and two seconds later, her brain is probably flying elsewhere other than the task. swimming— even after lessons and more lessons her legs are failing to coordinate with her core and arms, looking a lot like a waddling dog. even then, a four limbed animal can probably do it better than she can. at math. there’s a reason why she chose to be a kinesiology major, being the perfect place to be as there is a lack of calculations she is bound to miss.
oh, but there are also some calculations she’s bound to miss regardless of an effort from her side to try. like the fact that they are now passing by the quad and looking at a familiar dimpled man, completely dumbstruck at the thought that maybe, just maybe, nina didn’t know yet.
“you… do know… he’s back, right?” her voice trails, almost hopeful for a yes. there’s no mistaking it though, she can almost feel her twin sister stiffening, able to imagine the surprise that’s slowly drawing out to her face. who wouldn’t when your ex-boyfriend is suddenly in front of you, unbeknownst that he’s returned to the school?
so tori had seen him around a few times and had probably said a hello here and there… shit, shit, shit, she’s thinking. and at that moment tori knows that she had massively and understatedly fucked up her calculations.
… ﹠ ♥︎ she was unsure, whether she wanted to strangle her sister right at the spot, or just melt into the surface of the earth. one would lead to her probably being responsible for someone else’s death, which was not really want nina was up for. her eyes narrowed and if it was a cartoon or anime, there would be arrows like lightning shooting from them, showing the other exactly how shocked, and also a bit worried she was about the fact that her ex was back.
“n..no. you missed to mention that part.” ninas voice was absent, it was as if her entire soul had left her body at the moment, she was pushing herself through the crowds, not in an attempt to get away from her sister, but rather to confirm whether the male was him, or someone else.
her worst fears had come to be truth when she saw him. it was him. she believed she must have sinned in a previous life for seeing him. although their ending had not been a bad one, it was still a bittersweet feeling. and she knew herself and how much of a sensitive person he was to her. and not a lot of people was the senstive people.
sudden realisation hit nina, and she turned around to face the girl that was flashing her an innocent smile at the same minute. “you knew he was back...?”
