The scariest thing for me right now is the erosion of public trust. We are all being gaslit so much all the time that it feels impossible to verify a source. And as someone who works in the history field, I am often very aware of, for example, what museums are bowing down to the government and which are actually going through scheduled maintenance, but there is really no way for me to tell anyone that in a way that matters, because there are no trusted sources anymore, and the people working at these institutions don't want to be outed as information sources anyway, even if they are on the right side of history.

Mens attraction being inherently predatory and destructive and needing to be restrained is, in fact, part of evangelical ideology, and i think a number of people have unrecognised evangelical beliefs, left over from their youth or gained from societal permeation of whatever. And maybe they should recognise and critically examine those beliefs. And think a bit about where they got them from, instead of thinking up feminist justifications for them.

Oh, yeah...here in Alameda they trot out the "Mom-and-Pop" bullshit every time rent control comes up. BULLSHIT!

The jerks who own this building own five other properties in town. This building generates 34 rents, say averaging $2450. 34 x 2450 = $83K CASH INCOME A MONTH from JUST THIS BUILDING.

And these assholes are NOT "hurting" AT FUCKING ALL!

They come from Texas oil money in the first place.

They're even so fucking petty as to add $7/mo. to everyone's rent because they are able to "pass on" half the "cost" of "administrating the city's rent control program" which essentially doesn't fucking exist.

It's just complete USERY, absolute unbridled GREED and just goddamned well EVIL.

$2,500/mo for a goddamn glorified motel suite where you smell every goddamned evil smell the people below generate. IT IS INHUMAN! IT IS WRONG!

Before all this insanity with the rents began, these places went for $795/mo. That's all they're fucking worth, IF THAT MUCH! My rent on this shithole now stands at $2,474/mo...more than TRIPLE WHAT IT'S WORTH!
