I love taking generic Valentine's bears, and making them incredibly personal & unique.

A pale brown teddy bear. They have leopard print fabric patches on their hands & feet. There is a black denim patch over their belly, with a large unique, organic looking bronze button sewn in the center. One of their doll eyes has been replaced with a brown & black button which has an argyle print on it. There is a black & white chevron print ribbon lanyard coming out the top of their head. A black heart button is sewn onto their flank.

I gravitate towards teddy bears because, to me, bears are a symbol of protection.

As a person with PTSD & severe anxiety, I sometimes imagine a bear walking beside me when I'm having a hard time being in public, and so I love turning these thrift store stuffed animals into customized plush pendants that I can bring with me on my bag.

A pale brown teddy bear with longish gradient fur that turns darker at the root. One of their eyes as been replaced with a black fabric "X" patch. The other eye has been replaced with a large black heart button. They have a black & white chevron pattern ribbon around their neck, tied like a scarf. Their "hand" paws has white denim patches sewn onto them, one with the words "Shit is" and the other with the word "complex." One of their feet has black & white zebra print patches on the bottom, and the other has a red love heart embroidered patch. They have a black & white chevron print ribbon lanyard coming out the top of their head, connected to a stainless steel quick link.

From a convenience store Valentine's Day teddy no one asked for, to Glam Punk Bear.

A small white teddy bear plush. They have two mismatched black, white & gray patches on the bottom of their feet. They have a gray boucle piece of fabric over their belly, with a gunmetal heart button sewn over it. One of their black doll eyes has been replaced by a large swirly silver button. They have red denim patches inside their ears. Their is a black & white ribbon lanyard coming out the top of their head. On the back of their head is a black patch with a white skull and crossbones. On their left flank is a red denim patch with the words "Ask why."

When I found this penguin hand puppet at Ye Old Thrift Shoppe, it was coming apart at the seams and it's eyes looked like they're been gouged out by rabid moths. I patched them up, gave them some new button eyes. I decided they'd be better loved as a plushie, so I stuffed them & sewed up the bottom. I love the perpetually dubious expression on their face.

A black, white & gray plush penguin. They have brown & black button eyes with an argyle print on the bottom half, sewn over some white denim patches. A black heart button is sewn over their chest. Their beak and feet are made of black platter. They have a black & white striped ribbon lanyard coming out the top of their head.

From discarded bootleg Miffy to the Emo Princess of your dreams!

I made them for my friend's birthday, and I think they're one of the cutest Friend Shaped Friend I'm made to date.

(A white bunny plushie. They are wearing two roses, one at the base of each ear: one white, one black. There is a grey piece of fabric on their chest, like a shirt, and a large black heart button is sewn over it. They have one black doll eye, and one button eye ((a white button with a black star in the center)). The bottoms of their feet have patches: one is black fabric with a white skull & crossbones in the center, and the other is an off white with a circular textured pattern).

I made this little guy for a friend's birthday! As always: I'm utterly in love with the red rose button eye, and all the wonderful textures of patches & shaggy fur.

A black wooden heart button has been sewn onto their chest. The bottom of their left foot has a red demin patch, with a black & white striped oval in the center. Their right foot has a textured white patch on the bottom.

This bear completely fell apart when I started working on them. Their head fell off, stitches unstitched themselves, and every fold & wish keeping them together gave up completely.

It was really fun figuring out how to put them back together, and things that were done out of necessity became some of my favorite parts. I think they're giving 90s/early aughts vibes, and I love them.

I'm giving this to a friend tomorrow (who isn't on social media at all, so it will still be a surprise).
