Hailing from San Francisco, California: So It Goes! was formed in 2012, after childhood best friends Alex Park (vocals & guitar), Diego Hernandez (bass & backing vocals) and Reggie Baliad (drums, @reggiefm ) decided to take their shared love for pop punk music to the next level and start their own band. Inspired by the likes of blink-182, Sum 41 and My Chemical Romance: the trio quickly gained local popularity, which soon enough evolved into an online following that led them to being discovered by a major label and relocate to Los Angeles. 

Ever since debuting in 2016: So It Goes! became a favorite in the alternative scene. Bringing a unique breath of fresh air to the traditional pop punk sound, by incorporating elements of electronica, pop music, and hip hop. Never afraid to evolve their sound and as unapologetic as ever, after four albums and various world tours: they continue to earn their spot as one of the main figures of modern pop punk. Their latest record, “Lowkey As Hell”, has been described by Kerrang! as “pure chaotic, but carefully-crafted, brilliance”, and it’s available everywhere now.

Teenage Dream by Katy Perry but like, the entire album, which is one of my favorites. I guess some people don’t really expect me loving pop music when I really do. Just like people would never expect Katy Perry to be part of the Warped Tour alumni... but hey! Maybe that’s why I think she’s so fucking cool. 

6. your current “on repeat” song.

Meet Me @ The Altar dropped a cool ass song called “Say It (To My Face)” a few days ago, and I’ve been obsessed since. I love the criticism to internet trolls on the lyrics. These girls are simply genius. 

20. a song that empowers you.

Sometimes I can’t help but miss early Panic! at the Disco, and There's a Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered... always gives me that confidence boost.

I still jam to Crush by David Archuleta in 2022.

A really tough one... but I’m gonna go with Feeling This by blink-182 because that’s the first song I heard from them, and the reason why I fell in love with pop punk music and my life changed forever. Plus, those harmonies at the end? Pure magic.

My bandmate Diego introduced me to this really cool mexican band called División Minúscula a while ago, and their song Veneno Es Antídoto is one of my favorite songs in spanish or any foreign language.

12. a song you can scream all the words to.

Underclass Hero by Sum 41. When I was 16 and just got my drivers license, I used to drive around late at night, playing that at full volume while I screamed the lyrics from the top of my lungs. Good old days.  

13. a reboot of a song/songs you already loved (remix, mashup, acoustic, etc).

I remember finding this super dope Boulevard Of Broken Dreams/Wonderwall/Writing To Reach You/Sing For The Moment mashup on Youtube, it was known as “Boulevard Of Broken Songs”. And I’m not sure if it was ever an official release from anyone: but I had it on my iPod and was obsessed with it when I was in middle school.

Chicago Is So Two Years Ago by Fall Out Boy, which is part of one of my favorite albums of all time: Take This To Your Grave.

4. a song that reminds you of your favorite season.

For some reason Ocean Avenue by Yellowcard always gets me in a summer mood. That entire album, actually. I don’t know if it’s the fact that the album cover involves a sunny beach, but I love to listen to it whenever summer’s near.  

8. a song that speaks the words you couldn’t say.

This is a pretty hard one, since I write songs for a living: so I don’t think I’ve ever been unable to say something through them. But someone else’s... I’m gonna have to go with Down by Blink-182: it spoke exactly the words that I was feeling while I was going through one of the hardest moments of my life and helped me feel less alone.

I remember being in high school and blasting that so loud after arguments with my parents regarding me not wanting to go to college, but make music with my friends instead. Thankfully, everything worked out in my favor in the end.

“And you know Mexican cuisine is my favorite", Alex playfully remarked, it was his way of silently asking for extra recommendations there. “That’s actually perfect! Mexico’s the place we’ll spend most time at. You know, Diego wants to visit his family there and stuff, so we are arriving on Thursday morning. We play the festival on Friday, and then Saturday is all for ourselves again, since we don’t travel to Bogota till Sunday at noon”,  he explained with a little nod. “There’s even gonna be a mexican ‘Emo Nite’ on Satuday night! I’m really curious about that. Of course we are one of the mysterious ‘special guests’: do you think your niece would like to tag along? I promise we are fun at parties”, he laughed. “Oh you better! You’ll need it. But okay, I’ll stop by at 7pm then to annoy you”

“That sounds like a lot of fun. It’s always a fun place to visit.” Alex’s positive attitude about the trip was contagious and Carlos couldn’t help but match his smile. As he listened to the younger male speak - the elder was impressed with the Spanish. The time with his family having paid off well. “Maybe my niece? She’s pretty easy going and loves to show off.” He offered, a mental note to call his younger sister. “You can do it whenever you want. I’ll always make time for you. But I don’t need anything from you.”

“If you have any recs around town... especially food recs, I’m all ears okay?”, he joked and chuckled, he was really looking forward to this trip: trying new dishes was one of the most exciting parts of it. Alex loved to hunt around for traditional food from the places he was visiting, it was always a fun time (except that one time he got food poisoning in Munich and still had to give a show that way, but he didn’t ever talk about it). “Oh! That actually sounds great. Where is she located now?”, he curiously asked. “What about Wednesday night? And you might not need anything from me... but I need to shower you with love. And bringing silly souvenirs to my loved ones when I tour is one of my love languages, so you better make sure there’s enough free space in your living room”, he teased with a cheeky grin.

alex was still processing the eventful week he’s had: running into josie at the most random place, fighting his label again, breaking the news to nadine about their new ‘love anthem’, bruising his knee after attempting to relearn a skating trick: his soul was now beginning him to relax a little. and what better way to do so than by one of his favorite activities?: discovering new local bands downtown. so here he was tonight, at his favorite local bar: the perfect mixture of a bar and a concert venue. his main mission tonight was to forget about everything and just getting lost in the music. the indie rock band on stage was sweet enough for him to save their latest ep in his library. and now it was time for a new drink, so he headed to the bar side. 

as he waited by the bar counter for his cocktail to be ready: a young woman sitting in the corner couldn’t help but catch his eye. for a second, alex felt like he knew her from somewhere... but he couldn’t recall, so he shook the thought off. he wouldn’t have just forgotten such lovely face had he seen it before. and he wasn’t sure if it was the drinks on him, but it seemed that she was looking at him too?. thanking the bartender before grabbing his drink, he now walked towards her. a sober mind would have told him that spending time alone with a mystery woman at a very public space while in a pr relationship wasn’t the smartest idea, but (for some reason) he couldn’t help but be drawn to her like a moth. “e-excuse me, is this seat taken?”, he asked, quite shyly for someone as confident as him. he had forgotten the last time he felt this nervous around someone upon first meeting.
