I’ve never had a reheading go this horribly before. I’d say I’m pretty good at beheading- I may have broken a neck once or twice, but never any parts I actually liked or intended on keeping, and usually a reheading is the easiest thing, right? Just a little squish and a pop and done, a complete person. But this time it just- it just won’t go back on the body?? Which is incredibly frustrating but also, like, why??
And the funniest thing is, I’m not even swapping a head!! This is a curvy dancer head going onto a curvy dancer body!! They match!! This should have been so simple!! But no, this head’s just flopping around like a limp flaccid idiot and my hands are all red and sore now but the head just isn’t attaching all the way!!
Today I did six beheadings and two other reheadings, and I wanted to get this one attached so I could take a picture, but somehow it just isn’t working!! The head is just getting squished around but isn’t stretching over the neck right!! And I’m way too lazy to go and boil the head just to make the slip easier!! And I don’t wanna keep forcing it cuz I might break something but this is!! So frustrating!!

Description: The Last Words of a deserter, as described by observing foundation operative.
Initial Event:
I was there at the end. We'd tracked Caroline to the top of the hill at [REDACTED]. She'd given up, of course. She knew just as well as we did that if needs be we could have terminated her with the flick of a switch. But she knew we respected her. She was sitting there by an old fire pit, on a stump. Her rifle was disassembled on the ground next to her.
She talked to us. Said she'd worked for us for over a decade, nearly two. The systems had changed a few times. The last CEO changed a lot. Then the current one returned and changed things back. London was almost destroyed under our watch.
I sat opposite her, but I kept my gun in my hand. Said she didn't have to do what she did. She shook her head, told me there was nothing else she could do. I asked if she was being controlled. When she decided to do it. Whether she acted alone. She knew I was going down the list, she answered the questions as automatically as I'd asked them. No, she wasn't controlled. She'd decided a while before the incident. Yes, she was working alone.
I'm not being recorded, right? Right.
She said we didn't have the right to do what we do. Said we all knew it was wrong to try and control the world. I said I didn't know any such thing, of course, but she laughed. I told her the truth. I know we aren't controlling the world. We can barely control the subjects we have half the time. Things people called gods. Monsters. Aliens. Devices. The hubris of the higher-ups, the exceptions made where they shouldn't be. We're just continuing The Work, the same as we have ever since [REDACTED]. Hell, ever since Camelot.
She looked at me, and I felt her give up. She saw me like a mother looking at a child who keeps touching a hot stove. She looked to her gun, but it was useless of course. I raised my own. She shook her head, reached up and took off her collar. The dog tags too, she threw them in the fire. Said she knew she wasn't long for the world. Said she was glad she had as long as she had.
Then something made a noise in the grass nearby. We both froze. It rose up, diaphanous, glowing. A winged creature too effervescent to look at directly, it looked like the sun even in the middle of the day. She looked at it, and she couldn't say anything.
The creature looked to me, and I felt my gun drop. I tried to activate the helmet cam, but I fumbled the button, and I gave up.
She asked if I could see it. The creature. I said I could. I stood, reaching out, and its eyes looked into mine. I barely heard her fall to the ground. It reached out and brushed my cheek, that's where the burn must have come from.
Then, the rest of the unit began to approach. The creature looked up, and shimmered back into invisibility. I stood for a few minutes as my squad checked Caroline's body, but she was already gone.
The medic, the only other one who'd admit to seeing the creature, asked if whatever it was took her. I told her no. It didn't speak, but it was clear what it meant. It was seeing her off. I'm glad it did. She never belonged here. It was only a matter of time before she left.
Event Analysis:
The entity does not directly corellate to any known alien or spiritual species, and does not seem to have been related to Caroline's actions or death.
At 11:23AM, 24th of June 2026, Caroline Burnwick entered juvenile subject barracks A at [REDACTED] facility and requested an audience with the supervisor present. Presenting an issue with her communicator, she waited for both her own and the supervisor's to be partially disassembled before opening fire and killing said supervisor with silenced shots, informing the subjects that they would be required to attend an emergency assembly, before moving to the next JSB wing and repeating the process.
At 11:46AM, Caroline had assembled all Juvenile Subjects within the assembly hall, which she sealed before activating transtemporal distribution protocols. 68 subjects were folded into neighbouring timelines. 13 were displaced along their own timeline. 5 were age-manipulated between six days and 47 years. Those who survived were taken by Caroline as she abandoned the facility grounds.
Caroline will receive a funeral and cremation, as will those slain by her. The operative who gave her last words has been held for interrogation.
