ok there is a really really interesting detail in Skim's story boarding video for AVA 13 that was released today that I need everyone to know about right this second.
SPOILERS FOR AVA 13!!!
Was reading some fanfiction that mentioned Mango/King Orange having a job and I just realized that we have no idea what he actually does to make a living in the outer net.
At first I thought that maybe Stick City isn't a capitalist structure and perhaps has a bartering system(trading items among others) but I remembered that Hotdog Guy is paid in cash by everyone he sells to, so maybe it's situational?
Like Stick City proper uses currency but the outer villages(that Mango seems to live in) using bartering or some other system to trade goods and services
If this was a question that Alan and the team answered in a member qna at some point that you're allowed to disclose I'd be really curious to know!
no caption bc I think this speaks for itself
Thinking about how Logan refers to purple eyeshadow Virgil as "positive anxiety" and how that could connect back to the creative twins
We see in FWSA that Virgil very easily flips back and forth between purple and black eyeshadow and it's possible that whatever side existed before Roman and Remus had a similar trait.
As c!Thomas grew up, those two attributes became so polarizing and distinct that they naturally split into Remus and Roman, opposed to the much more violent split that is most commonly depicted in the fandom
Not to discredit that view of the creative twins splitting, it does give some very nice angst content and I can never pass that up
Also toxic gay/evil twink would be a really funny characterization after all of the anticipation built up for the reveal
This has probably been said before but it would be really REALLY funny if Sleep(from vines/shorts) was the orange side
A clingy and toxic boyfriend who gets set off by the most unreasonable things and it would be really hilarious to see the other sides get so irritated cause Sleep refuses to corporate
im sorry
I also don't think the Orange side is "evil" just like any of the other dark sides are evil but are just traits of c!Thomas's personality that he sees as negative. Janus was seen as evil because c!Thomas didn't like the part of his personality that compelled him to lie, Remus was/is seen as evil because he represents the part of c!Thomas imagination that he sees as negative.
Just like how lying can be a defense mechanism, anger and lashing out can be a different defense mechanism for some people and some people feel shame because of it
So I specifically want to draw attention to the thumbnail, which is a clear reference to one of the most iconic shots from "The Truman Show"
And I think the reason they made this reference is because Caine's story is sort of the opposite of Truman's. In the movie Truman is being observed while the observers do things to his "experiment" to try and get a specific reaction out of him, while Caine is given limitless ability to create and control whatever he wants in the circus because the observers want to see what he'll do with that freedom.
And I think the specific shot that is referenced also has meaning in the same context. Truman didn't know what he was escaping out of or into he just knew he didn't want to stay. While Caine knows there is something out there that he wants to get to.
The whole circus is like the Truman show and everyone wants to leave.
The newest trailer for amazing digital circus dropped which means tumblr has unlocked a new interest of mine that I'm going to theorize about
Sometimes I notice things about the sides that I think are super clever but I'll never know if they were intentional or a complete coincidence
For example, Roman has no memory of him being responsible for the American eagle shirts because he's not a side that has anything to do with memories, that's Logan and Patton.
Additionally Logan says at the beginning of the newest ep that Roman is only ever concerned with the future because that is what dreams and aspirations are about, hopes for the future
Patton calls Virgil his son because Virgil is a very concentrated emotion and an "off spring" of Patton.
All this is to say is that if the orange side is rage/anger, another concentrated emotion, they are also Patton's son technically
Something I just noticed is that Patton doesn't say anything after Logan comes to the conclusion that Thomas shouldn't date
I’m pretty sure Thomas did confirm that orange is a separate side from Logan, but I’m also not sure either
My post was mostly a joke but I am genuinely curious when Thomas confirmed the orange side being separated?
The main reason I don't think the Orange Side is a separate side is because I don't think Thomas could fit another spot around the circle
I'm having an argument with my brother over whether or not over stimulation and the panic of sensory overload is the Spiral or the Eye
Spiral or Eye?
Spiral
Eye
Head canon that the reason the closet didn't turn into a tardis is because none of the sides agreed on which tardis it would look like because they each have a different favorite one(but also because Janus doesn't care)
Ok not related to the newest ep at all because I was rewatching old eps
But in "Fitting in" with the Hogwarts houses, LOGAN MAKES A PUN!!
He calls the sorting system a "Doby decimal system" AND ROMAN IS THE ONLY ONE TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT.
Maybe my headcanon of Logan actually enjoying puns/word play is real...
