If we want third spaces we need to accept that homeless people are in fact people. They are not the moral failures that the system, which is the reason they are homeless in the first place, has raised us to think they are. We must accept that they deserve to occupy those third spaces just as much as homed people

this is my Alt account and I want to re-blog it on this account and expand upon an idea I have

In a place where I think more eyes can see it

When me and my partner are older and more financially stable, I want to make an effort to help the community

Two ideas that I have put a good amount of thought in is a community grocery stop and a repurposed church

The community grocery stop would be essentially just a place for free food You don’t have to prove your income, You don’t have to Show a specific card

You just come in, grab a bag, Say hi, take what you want and leave

If you need the veggies that you picked out to be chopped, then you take them up to the counter and I will chop them for you, there will also be free tea, coffee, and snacks behind the counter for anyone who wants it. You just come up and ask 

No payment necessary

As for the repurposed church, it would just be a fun community space

A fridge and walk-in pantry with free snacks and drinks, a record player, board games, and books, nice soft rugs, couches, and beanbag chairs, a neutral worship place in a separate room for people to set up their own alter 

Maybe even movie nights every week that people can vote on

Just a nice neutral hangout spot that encourages community building 

People are so chronically online that we forget how to experience togetherness And it’s not good for us

We are pack animals for frick sake
