We already see alarming rates of kids being abused by their family members, and the rest of the family going “you don’t want to ruin Uncle X’s life, do you?” Just IMAGINE how much worse it would be if families shielding a family member from incarceration would be if there was a guarantee of death connected to that. The possibility of retaliation against the child is far too high of a risk to take, IMO.
