@noahs-ghost
This is important.
Itās not a āloopholeā itās explicit within the text of the amendment
āLoopholeā lmfao like itās a fucking accident, like it wasnāt purposefully structured to reclaim and expand a source of free labor
We never outlawed slavery in America. We simply transferred ownership of slaves from individual landowners to the government and large corporations.
Other fun facts about prison labor corporations:
-Federal and state-run prisons usually pay their slaves minimum wage; some states, however, like Colorado, pay $2/hour.
-Private prisons pay $.17-.50/hour. The highest paying private prison is in Tennessee, which pays $.50/hour for āhighly-skilled labor.ā
-You think that hasnāt affected wages in the US? You think that hasnāt removed manufacturing jobs from the economy?
-Companies that contract with private prisons for their slave labor include: IBM, Boeing, Motorola, Microsoft, AT&T, Wireless, Texas Instrument, Dell, Compaq, Honeywell, Hewlett-Packard, Nortel, Lucent Technologies, 3Com, Intel, Northern Telecom, TWA, Nordstromās, Revlon, Macyās, Pierre Cardin, Target Stores. Many, many products that say āMade in USAā were made in prison.
-Private prisons often have quotas with the states, wherein the states contractually guarantee that they will provide a certain number of prisoners to fill the beds of a private prison, and if they donāt then they owe the private prison millions of dollars. Iām not making this up. It happened in Colorado after they legalized weed.
-States have a financial incentive to lock up their citizens.
-All of the above corporations have a financial incentive to see citizens get locked up.
-This is why Jeff Sessions is going after weed. The prison industrial complex needs slaves.
-To the shock of absolutely no one, private prisons have even more disparate racial demographics than federal/state prisons.
-Where do you think they send undocumented immigrants who have been rounded up? Thatās right, private prisons. Thatās why so many of them are in the South. So they take immigrants who are earning some kind of comparable wage and paying income tax to the government, and put them in prison where the wages are absurdly depressed and the prison pays virtually nothing in taxes.
-Oh yeah: private prisons pay virtually nothing in taxes. Because they technically manage real estate (prison as housing), they get all sorts of tax breaks and subsidies.
Tl;dr the prison industrial complex removes jobs from the economy, depresses wages, cheats the tax system, and ENSLAVES PEOPLE, usually people of color.

For reference, theyāre referring to the clause that goes, āneither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.ā

Neil Josten AND Andrew Minyard have bpd and that explains why they understand each other when others (Renee and Wymack excluded) canāt.

Another Soulmate AU
Soulmate AU where if Ā your soulmate is listening to/thinking about a song itāll be stuck in your head till they stop listening to it.
Neil is pretty sure his soulmate is a die-hard fan of The Foxhole because they listen to them 24/7.
His soulmate must also be emo because in the mornings their playlist mainly consists of FOB, PATD, MCR, the holy emo triad. Neil is already half-way in love with them, his soulmate has good music taste.
But at nights and mainly during weekends, his soulmate listens to The Foxhole full volume, it almost feels like attending their concerts and Neil just *loves* it. His soulmate and him are going to have some great time together when they meet, Neil is sure of that.Ā
And if Neil starts going to The Foxholeās concerts, well then itās just because he really really loves their music. Not because heās hoping heāll meet his soulmate there. It has absolutely nothing to do with that. Nope.Ā
Neil is also pretty sure that his soulmate can play an instrument or write songs. In his mind he can hear them mulling over lyrics, changing notes here and there, humming symphonies, composing.Ā
And theyāre damn good at it. Neil loves their songs, he wishes he could record them and listen to them whenever he wants to.Ā
He wishes he could tell his soulmate as much. He canāt. But Neilās resourceful. As soon as his soulmate stops composing, Neil starts listening to songs that are- well Matt would say they are the most sickeningly upbeat songs heās ever heard Neil listen to.Ā
Neil doesnāt care, he just hopes the message is getting through. He hopes his soulmate knows that Neil loves what theyāre doing, that Neil is happy being their soulmate.Ā
Neil definitely doesnāt start going to every concert of every small band/artist he can think of in the hope of hearing someone sing the songs his brain is full of.
But after months of searching and searching, Neil almost gives up. For his birthday Matt buys him another ticket for a The Foxhole concert and Neil couldnāt be more grateful. At least he can take his mind off the whole soulmate debacle for a night and listen to his favourite band.
Except that when he gets there his world turns upside down.
It happens when the singer of the band announces that theyāre going to play one of their new songs.
He says that itās the first time heās playing a song that he has composed entirely on his own, but his soulmates seemed to like it very much so heās decided to give it a chance.Ā
Neilās heart lurches when The Foxhole start playing the song that has been playing in Neilās mind for the last few months.
Thatās when he realises whatās going on.
The Foxholeās singer - Andrew Minyard is Neilās soulmate.
this is the shoplifting cat reblog and good lifting luck will come ur way
When you have the power of God and anime on your side
This is Kjell Lindgren. Heās a NASA astronaut who just got back from 5 months on the International Space Station. There are two reasons why this picture is hilarious:
His wife is flawless and makes bad space puns to make him do household chores.
I have that shirt. Thousands of people have that shirt. That shirt is available at Target. Which means actual astronaut Kjell Lindgren, with his wardrobe already full of NASA-issued and logo-emblazoned clothes, was at Target, saw a NASA shirt, and was like, āYes, I am buying this because this is what I want to spend my actual astronaut salary on.ā
Ā tl;dr NASA employs a bunch of fucking nerds
It gets better.
Courtesy of Wikipedia, hereās the poster NASA released for his mission to the ISS:
NASA confirmed for a bunch of fucking nerds
*wipes single tear*
Theyāre just too beautiful.
Iāve said it before, Iāll say it again.Ā
NASA personnel are, like, the top nerds. The alpha nerds. The absolute nerdiest nerds. The nerds other nerds look to for nerdspiration.Ā
THIS IS ADORABLES :D
I strongly recommend a visit to the following website (http://spaceflight101.com/iss/iss-expedition-posters/) that has all of them.
Everything started off all vanilla but a Expedition 16 they showed that they were truly Masters of The Dork Side of The Force:

the last post i reblogged made me think, mogai labels are really harmful especially to kids. when i was 13/14 i identified as lithrosexual demiromantic or somethingā¦it was literally me denying myself of my bisexuality. i made up excuses to deny myself from feeling attraction to girls. then i said i was pan bc i didnāt want to āexcludeā trans peopleā¦but bisexuality does not exclude anyone and pansexuality āothersā trans people and is both transphobic and biphobic. children identifying as asexual is just uncomfortable. ace people saying shit like āweāre here weāre queerā is so disgusting and harmful. it is straight people feigning their way into the lgbt community and calling themselves a slur they have no right to reclaim. saying āoh the lgbt community is for outcasts or weirdos!!ā youāre perpetuating the same rhetoric that homophobic and transphobic people use. you are alienating lgbt people and calling them weirdos or not normal.
