Reblogging for later reference after I tried it earlier today to try to calm down. It actually does help a lot, not just for sleep but if you have problems with anxiety.

My default mental setting is “vibrating intensely in the background.” After doing this, I felt noticeably calm and relaxed - I wasn’t as fixated on my breathing, I wasn’t tense, my movements weren’t jerky and I didn’t feel like I had to be as tense as possible to be under control. 10/10 would recommend.

In all seriousness: I’m relatively fresh in anime, having only ingested these things non-stop for around a few short years… yet we usually see “cours” that are consecutive, right?

I have, on very rare occasion, learned that a series has skipped a single three-month period. That’s not completely insane. Similar to a “winter hiatus” in American television, in a way. Tokyo Ghoul is doing it right now, even.

I’ve seen an anime skip nine months and call that next bit a NEW season… which is kind of where I’d be inclined to go with this.

But this is my first experience with seeing an anime skip six months. A weird period of time. And honestly, calling it the same ‘season’ then? I… uh… eh?

This is like that bullshit when an American cable network chops a season in two and then says “see you in a year but let’s just keep calling it the same season” and like… on what fucking basis at that point?

‘Seasons’ are literally defined by how the block is aired in a relatively ongoing lump has nothing to do with, say, production schedules; that’s why TV shows and anime that hold back episodes from a previous year and then air them nine months to a year later automatically have historically (i.e., from the 1950s-1990s) considered those held-back-but-produced-earlier entries as part of the NEXT season. Because they waited long enough to no longer be able to define it otherwise.

Later on, cable networks like SyFy (when they were still SciFi) and HBO started defining a season as “whatever the fuck we TELL you it is, so sit there and take it.” But like… I don’t wanna take it :P

So I find this new, bizarre, and frankly, displeasing on more than one level. At the very least, I think pushing us into a new calendar year that’s six months away sure FEELS like a “next season.” But I guess your mileage may vary
