Poland just made it legal to torture women.
abortion law in Poland was already the strictest in Europe, abortion was allowed in only 3 cases:
if the pregnancy was a result of rape or incest
if the mother's health was at risk
in case of foetal defects.
another problem is that there is something called "conscience clause" among Polish doctors which means that they can deny a patient certain treatment if it's against their conscience or beliefs (yes, it mostly applies to conservative, catholic doctors). some doctors went as far as not telling women about foetal defects until it was too late to terminate pregnancy. what's more, abortion in case of rape happens very rarely, since it's difficult to prove rape in the eyes of Polish law.
in 2019, only 1100 legal abortions took place in Poland, a country populated by 38 milion people. 98% of these abortions happened because of foetal defects.
on October 22nd 2020, Poland's top court ruled abortion due to foetal defects inconstitional, basically making abortion illegal.
Polish women will be forced to give birth to children with basically no chance to live. they will be tortured physically and mentally. rich women will be able to visit neighbouring countries to have abortion there but there are plenty of women who will have unsafe, illegal abortions, endangering their lives.
there are protests happening all over the country. not for the first time though, we've been protesting abortion ban for few years now. there's a sense of solidarity among us but the truth is, we're afraid.
this is how catholic extremism looks like. Poland is becoming a real-life Gilead and it's fucking terrifying.
This is what was going on
This is what was going on in Poland this night. This is what is going to repeat tomorrow. Polish people got out into the streets to protest against the ban on abortion. Many has been hurt e.g. with pepper spray and many arrested.
A shitload of police protected the house of our DICTATOR Jarosław Kaczyński who single-handedly for years has been controling 235 memebers of the parliament from his ruling party PIS. Noone could get near the house for hundreds of meters.
Poland is being destroyed but these protesting people give us hope. But what IS hope when a bunch of old unhappy people in power hate you, hate women, hate liberals, hate LGBT people, hate intelligent people? When they want to create a country full of their uneducated supporters that won't ever protest? Some people say the elections in three years won't be held as PIS won't allow it. Or that the results will not be the real results. I for sure would not be surprised. None of my friends plan to be in Poland in three years.
This is the time where feminists of all world should look at Poland and help us. Because women just lost their (facade of) dignity here and we will lose remnants of it. And for what? To make people forget for a couple of days that the government screwed up and that Poland is not handling well with the virus at all.
Protesting is a FELONY in Tennessee now…Facism at it’s finest (x)
I’m sorry, but people need to know this. This is LITERALLY the most blatant telltale sign of totalitarianism and this needs to be spread like wildfire. DO NOT LOOK AWAY.
Can we talk about this?!
HEY remember in WWII when Jewish people were fleeing Germany and the USA put a quota on how many Jewish immigrants they would accept because they were worried there were too many Jewish people coming over to the USA???
Reminder that the USA has always been fucking garbage to immigrants and basic humanity
Here’s how you can help:
Sign this petition calling for the investigation of the mass murder and torture of LGBT people in Chechnya
Support the Rainbow Railroad, actively involved in rescuing LGBTQ+ facing violence in their home countries
Read this article by out.com for more ways you can help stop Chechnya’s concentration camps
Please reblog this. There’s a lot of arguing in the reblogs/replies, but no links to actual concrete ways to become of help to these people.
If you haven’t seen this story, look up his name: Francisco Galicia.
Expect to see him come 2020, when the debates begin and the political battle heats up. Expect to see him in a suit testifying in court, or before Congress. This young man is a witness and a victim, and the fact that this isn’t a more prominent story on every news station is what truly frightens me.
From The Dallas News:
Galicia says he lost 26 pounds during that time in a South Texas immigrant detention center because officers didn’t provide him with enough food.
He said he wasn’t allowed to shower and his skin was dry and dirty.
He and 60 other men were crammed into an overcrowded holding area where they slept on the floor and were given only aluminum-foil blankets, he said. Some men had to sleep on the restroom area floor.
Ticks bit some of the men and some were very sick, Galicia said. But many were afraid to ask to go to the doctor because CBP officers told them their stay would start over if they did, he said.
I would remind you that concentration camps are actually real.
“I told them we had rights and asked to make a phone call. But they told us, ‘You don’t have rights to anything’,” Francisco Galicia said.
This is happening.

you may have seen a lot lately about how things have gotten even worse in Yemen. Do NOT donate to or boost UNICEF. Find out more and how you can help here: https://endtheyemenwar.carrd.co/
We are the Yemeni Alliance Committee, a group of female Yemeni organizers educating and mobilizing our communities to end the Yemen war.
[ID: a series of tweets from @sandlewoad whose display name is “End the war in Yemen [flag of Yemen]”. transcription:
What’s happening in Yemen and * how to ACTUALLY help *, told by me, a Yemeni. A thread:
Since 2015, the Saudi and United Arab Emirates formed a coalition to wage a war against the people of Yemen. Why? Yemenis wanted change after the Arab Spring, and pushed out long time President Saleh. So Houthi forces in Yemen pushed out the Vice President that was supposed to... assume the presidency. The VP then fled to Saudi.
What resulted was possibly President Obama’s most cruelest exploit in his 8 years in office. The US sold billions of dollars in weapons to the Saudis and not only that, but intelligence support, war consulting, even air fueling.
The war was handed off to Trump’s administration and things went from bad to worse. More weapons were sold, laws broken, millions suffered. They still are. A sea and air blockade is currently enforced leaving most in the country starving.
Some of y’all are just hearing abt this war and want to help. So let’s talk abt it.
First, stop donating to UNICEF, stop sharing trauma porn, and not every Yemen petition does anything. Listen to the Yemenis who have been working to end this for years. We only advocate for one charity, yemenfoundation.org because they also do anti war work.
We need y’all to make phone calls to your reps, we need u to send emails to them. Pressure the shit out of them! Start a car caravan and pull up to their house.
Divest from Saudi oil, raise awareness of the war, and if ur Muslim, BOYCOTT HAJJ. And miss me with the sAuDiA doNAteS tHe MosT tO Yemen bullshit. That’s like me kicking u in the balls then giving you an ice pack after.
Everything we need people to do is in this carrd (linked in OP) And follow us on Instagram and Facebook Yemeni Alliance Committee

I’m begging those of you with money to boycott Hajj. S*udi makes lots of money every year during Hajj season.
A friend of mine posted this and tagged my old instagram account, asking me to share it. I figured sharing it here where I actually have a following, would be far better.
Please remember that just because the government is giving into pressure and greed, that doesn’t mean that any of this is getting any better, in a lot of ways it’s getting worse. And even if you yourself aren’t being as heavily affected anymore, there are people and communities that are.
Stay safe Darling ones, and help others remain safe too.

the philippines is trending right now and i hope y’all know it’s because our senate passed an “anti terrorism” bill, which basically targets the critics and opposition leaders of the current government. it may impede our freedom of speech and they could basically “allow the police and military to conduct a 60-day surveillance on suspected terrorists and compelling telecommunication companies to disclose their calls and messages”.
on top of this, the philippines doesn’t have mass testing available yet and the enhanced community quarantine has technically ended today, which means thousands of workers are now forced to go to work (even without a proper public transportation system). my mother has just gone to work at the airport and i’m terrified for her safety and health. the coronavirus cases have been increasing constantly and we’re still in the first wave.
update: this is what manila looks like after lifting the enhanced community quarantine
translation: we need your help. our families are starving. we are jeepney drivers and we don’t receive any aid from the social amelioration subsidy (or financial aid from the government)
i know so many things are happening in your own countries, but please keep us in your minds and prayers. 💗
