REAL TALK: Josh’s 5 tips to not sucking at s t u d y i n g
This is turning into a nicememe™ around here in the #andi mack tag, but sometimes actually s t u d y i n g is really hard. So let me, a random Andi Mack cast member who told @cyrusthegoodman to S T U D Y, give you, a random tumblr browser, some s t u d y tips.
1. classical music CLASSICAL MUSIC PLAY CLASSICAL MUSIC
Seriously. Playing classical music, or even instrumental hip-hop tracks and ambient music is an awesome way to keep your mind on one thing and one thing alone. Need a good s t u d y playlist? Fear not, let me help you out WITH THIS GREAT LIL DUDE. Wow josh, who made that amazing study playlist? Me. I did. Follow it. It’s great.
QUIZLET, Y’ALL. STOP MAKING REAL FLASHCARDS. Put the stuff you’d normally put on a flashcard and make a FREAKIN quizlet. Do the tests. Do the flashcards. Do the test again because it looks like a real final. Play the games!!! They’re fun :)
I hope you use chrome because (a: it’s the best browser) and (b: you need it for this tip). https://www.takeafive.com/ is a website you may or may not have seen before. It’S GOOOD. It creates a self-destructing tab so you’ve got 5 minutes to browse the #andi mack tag and then its GONE and SUCKS FOR YOU you’ve gotta go learn stuff. Beyond just takeafive, though, breaks are important. Keeping your mind active helps too, so drawing and writing are good. The brain can really only hold peak focus for 45 minutes, so rather than take a 30 minute break to watch another Andi Mack every 2 hours, take a 10 minute break ever 45 minutes and draw or write.
4. pOSITIVE FREAKIN REINFORCEMENT
Hate to sound like the Biebs over here, but you should go and love yourself. Whenever you do something good, think to yourself “wow, [INSERT NAME HERE] you just did a great job!” BECAUSE ITS A GOOD THING TO DO! It makes your brain calm down a little bit and maybe you won’t be filled to the brim with stress for a momentary second.
When you walk in to take your finals, you should be thinking to yourself “I did everything that I could and even if I do badly, I’m still proud of my hard work.” Don’t forget to love yourself, especially on test day.
BONUS: LIGHTNING ROUND OF GOOD STUFF
Drink coconut water, it has electrolytes and potassium
EAT FOOD, don’t get too sucked in
If you can, chew cinnamon gum while you study and again while you take the test
USE f.lux WhEN it gets LATE AT NIGHT
TRY not to pull all-nighters
drink coffee, but not after 4pm and instead suck on espresso beans
DAYLIGHT AND NOT FLUORESCENT OR YELLOW LAMPS
