Apartment
by Ding Dang
You hide in an apartment You hide in the city You hide in winter You hide in your own yellow skin You hide where you can eat well and dress warm You are in a place without time You are in a place that isn't a place You are in your destined place Sometimes hungry Sometimes sleepy Sometimes resigned Sometimes reticent
Or else make a meal Or lie in bed not getting up Or defecate hygienically and elegantly Or read a sad love story Add a piece of coal to the stove Write a letter to a friend before tearing it up Flip through old diaries and sink deep into thought Flip through old clothes and take a few steps in them Then sit on that worn wooden chair and light a cigarette Then drink that half-cup of cold coffee
Take a huge sheet of white paper Take a box of coloured pencils Draw an apartment Draw a woman Draw three children Draw a lavish meal Draw a few friends Color in warm hues Color in happy hues Color in joy Color in peace of mind Then hang it on the wall Then look it over and over Then think it over and over Then go to bed and sleep

Going Out
by A Wu
Going out To change what's above my head Above my head now Is a fluorescent tube The fluorescent tube hangs below a surface This surface has a boundary I want to go out To change what's above my head I've gone out Above my head now There's nothing Nothing hangs below a rain The clouds are floating Looking at this blue view I remember before coming out Part of this blue was to my side Through a so-called window I watched this blue from afar Now this blue is no longer to my side To my side is a building I still want to go out To change what's to my side Can I go out So that to my side And above my head Is only this blue view

sometimes i get annoyed at poetry for being a shit passion i'll never earn money or recognition for. what's the point of this life i've devoted to it, even then writing so little. writing so poorly. when i was young i thought poetry could be everything. then i found out that it wasn't. then i found out i would keep writing anyway. after all, why not? i might as well. truly believe poetry is the most common thing of all. it's anywhere you want to find it. and the writing itself is effortless: everyone's a poet when they have to be.

echo is a long poem i wrote 10 years ago, it's not really been public (except as a self-printed booklet alongside a korean translation and original poem by @seoohci) but i guess i want it out there now. snippets have been featured in some of my past mixes. please read 🩵
For that one moment, this entire life wasted.
Fei Mo (非默), Destiny (天命, 2006), dedication page, my translation
we must refuse every imperative to be happy
but
enough with gratitude. for survival was on our lips & we were right
to refuse reconciliation. it's true
attention alone is worthwhile. is love. insolvent as we were, squandering
all we had in the countless hours. in that bitter eternity
living life against life. & still we have recovered nothing, not even
our stupidity. no more & no less. not idle
enough yet. but for these words
But are not
all Facts Dreams
as soon as
we put
them behind
us -
