For fucking real
This whole bankruptcy thing was a money making scam by the suits who bought out the company back in the 2000s and ran it into the ground.
Not only is the toy store brand not dead, but 30,000 people are now angry as this scheme blocked them out of severance pay and they are now unemployed and unable to return to work when they start up again.
Many toy companies including Hasbro are raising eyebrows at this, as the initial bankruptcy cost them millions of dollars in sales revenue and their stocks took a nasty hit (Mattel being the worst off from it, as Toys R Us closing compounded with steadily falling sales of their products). Advocates are calling this a “bad PR stunt” since the suits want the company to make sales for the holidays.
Hopefully, this will cause enough of a stink to kill it off for good. I’d rather say goodbye Geoffrey as I knew him than have him come back as a reanimated corpse controlled by greedy hucksters who put thousands of people out of work for no other reason than to line thier own pockets and escape the consequences of their own failings.
This is dripping with Texas energy

Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu&Eevee - Treehouse LIVE footage 12.6.
Gameplay footage and more mechanics information
Mechanics:
Catching wild pokemon gives exp to all pokemon in your team. - Nice/Great/Excellent throws, curve throws, co-op throws and the pokemon’s size affect how much exp is given. - Blue aura on wild pokemon indicate smaller individual that gives less exp, while red aura indicates a larger individual that gives more exp.
EV training is replaced by the Candy Jar. - When you send a pokemon to the professor (aka release it) you get a stat boosting candy for the stat the pokemon would normally give EVs to. You can then feed the candy to any pokemon you want. - Whether the candy gives EVs like Protein or Iron, or simply raises the stat numerically, is not yet known. - There seems to be a limit of how much candy you can give to a pokemon at a time. It may be tied to the pokemon’s level.
Your starter (Pikachu or Eevee) acts as an Itemfinder by wagging its tail when a hidden item is nearby.
In addition to your starter on your shoulder, you can choose one pokemon to come out of its pokeball and follow you. - The follow pokemon can be switched at any time. - The pokemon can be interacted with to trigger various dialogue in the overworld. - Large pokemon like Onix, instead of following you are ridden by the trainer character. If you enter an area too narrow for them to go in they automatically hide in their pokeballs until you enter a more open area.
You can rename pokemon in your team or the storage whenever you want.
The first gym requires you to show a Grass- or Water-type pokemon before you can fight Brock. - It might be a way to guide novice players into preparing for the battle with suitable pokemon, since in Pokemon GO there are no immunities and type effectiveness makes only a 20% difference as opposed to the 100% it is in the core games. - We don’t yet know if all gyms will require tasks like this one or if it’s a unique feature to the first one.
Defeating trainers earns you pokeballs in addition to money.
Wild pokemon spawn in tall grass but can also walk outside of it.
The second player in co-op gets to move their character freely outside of battles.
High CP pokemon sent to the game from GO will have higher levels.
UI and other details:
After a wild pokemon capture you get to watch all of your team members’ exp bars go up simultaneously.
Pikachu learns Double Kick at lv.9
Oddish can be found in Viridial Forest, probably to help the player defeat Brock’s gym.
Your rival is an unmemorable and generic tool with no identifying features Trace, who we don’t know much about yet.
Pokemon Centers no longer have the PC as you can access your PC pokemon and change your team wherever you are.
Trading animation is a HD rendition of the Link Cable animation from gen1 and gen2 games.
While small pokemon use the same menu sprites they’ve had since XY, large pokemon (third evolutions and some others) have been given new sprite art.
