So I recently got into Demon Slayer through Fan Content...

and I have an idea for any Gyomei x OC/your name story lovers if people wanna explore it (credit to Hfar who thought up the bones of the scenario for a college writing course):

we know Gyomei is sight impaired/blind to some extent (jury's out on the special magic sight for me), so how about giving him a romantic interest who's deaf/hard of hearing?

I would like it to be that the hearing impaired interest is still an accomplished Demon Slayer that can at least handle themselves against most demons (maybe they have a Breathing Style that enhances other senses to compensate for their lack of hearing) as a show that their disability is not something to be ashamed of (like Gyomei and his sight impaired state).

the beautiful fluffy situations between the blind Gyomei and this theoretical Deaf S.O./Y.N. as they navigate their relationship with contrasting disabilities, as well as the potential angst that could arise just from the nature of the things trying to hold their relationship back:

Gyomei can never see the beautiful things their interest makes/does and the Interest can never hear their love's voice, not to mention they can't communicate well since Gyomei can't see their interest use sign language or write and the interest can't hear anyone's voice let alone Gyomei's and the timeframe of their world is low tech enough that Text to Speech to Text technology does not exist yet, the closest they could get would be a translator either in the form of another person or one of the Demon Slayer Corps' crows who's been trained for it. maybe that crow could belong to the Deaf Demon Slayer and accompany them constantly whenever they are near people who aren't deaf.

I will suggest this shipping dynamic for any Deaf or Blind Character from now on: give them a romantic interest that is their disability opposite (a blind interest for a deaf character, or a deaf interest for a blind character).

I head-cannoned Keith David as Burning Spice Cookie's possible VA before he got released, and this is quite possibly my favorite piece of fan content that I've made exploring that possibility for him (audio from Princess Mononoke), also the shipping of Clotted Cream and Wildberry was absolutely inspired by Moonpriestess575 on BlueSky (I don't know if they have a Tumblr) because their Wild/Clotted content is mega cute

this is also a test as to whether or not the reach of Japanese Copyright Lawyers extends here, and therefore will BITE ME IN THE ASS for making this

it's about GODDAMN TME Devsisters!

this was mostly me fiddling with the Text to Speech in Capcut and playing around with text styles for deaf/HoH viewers to distinguish who's talking with a sprinkling of venting my feelings over Devsisters releasing two other beast cookies before Shadow Milk who was the first one introduced. I'm glad the only other Beast Cookie I actually have interest in (Burning Spice, my buff beloved) got released as it confirmed their exact appearance and voice, but after him and Shadow Milk I don't particularly care about the others. That's likely to change when the final two release (whenever that may be) but presently and even when all the beasts were shown in that first lore vid on them that talked of their fall, I only REALLY cared about Burning Spice (for their looks) and later Shadow Milk (for their kooky yet dangerous vibes) when he debuted as a story enemy.

so yeah; WELCOME HOME YOU DEADLY LITTLE CLOWN :D
