Camelot Warriors: The Castle of Doom - 2016
Since Me and Julian had adquired the rights for this series, we planned to make a Real, big Reboot, and tried to kickstarter it. It was going to be a simple, straightforward, yet big, and polished 2D action platformer with traditionally animated sprites.
I actually feel quite sad about this one. I spent a LOT of time on it. we had Really fun plot and ideas! I was so ready to give all my heart for it, but alas, the kickstarter... Never even started. things went wrong, and this whole project was... doomed.
I will never forget about it tho. It was the first time I was fully ready to take on a Big project!! And I still feel proud of my work on it.
Camelot Warriors: Mobile Remake - 2016
“Camelot warriors” is a very old ZX Spectrum spanish videogame. A contact from Julian had aquired the rights to the series, and we both worked on a remake for the game. I had to take the original sprites and animate them, and this is the result.
I cant remember if it was released on the play store or not. I sadly hope it didnt, ‘cause the “final version” I played of it was incredibly buggy, with horrid checkpoints and unforgiving, frustrating controls and difficulty. The original was too! but this was 2016...
Despite the game’s results, I’m very happy with how the sprites came out.
QIAHN Character and Monster designs - 2016
Julian Soria and I started working on a little game project for “Qiahn”, a spanish card game. I started designs for characters and monsters, but it was abandoned too. so this is all there is left of it.
QIAHN is not owned by me.
Star Wiper - 3D Sidescroller shooter - Unity - 2015
Starwiper is a simple, nostalgic shoot’em up, where you fly the mighty “StarWiper” spaceship to defend your home, shooting down and defeating invaders from space. (10/10 Plot)
At first we were leaning towards a pixel art approach, but in the end we went for a 3D visual game. We made a demo of one whole level, including a boss fight! We presented it to a contest, and made the demo within a month. We ended up in 2nd place! (beat by a game who’s developpers had been working on already for a whole year earlier)
I designed all the visuals, characters, background, special effects (explosions and bullets) title screen and intro, and the textures for the characters and final boss.
Julian did everything else: music, sound design, character 3D models and animation, and programming.
We were planning to complete it and make a full release in the end, But other projects popped up, and it was parked aside, abandoned to never be completed.
i’ll miss it. and it taught me how important it is to make things pop on the screen.... but not too much. too many lights means Chaos on the screen and pain for the eyes!
Kiwi goes to heaven - game sprites - 2015
Me and Julian developped this game in less than a week. It’s a phone game about a kiwi that wants to fly to the sky with a baloon, the rest of the mean new zealand birds will make his journey difficult!
It was released that year on the google play store, but It must have been removed by now. Maybe you can find it and play it if you’re interested.
Longie Camps Out - 2014
Me and Julian Soria worked on this game in a single evening to test if we could work together.
I made all the graphics for this game in 4 hours. Background, sprites and animation for characters and enemies, game over and game clear screens and and intro and menus. The game was roughly completed within a day.
Julian, who programmed the game in a single day.
Gameplay Video: - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qly7RBsIarE -
you can still play it here - https://ulises2014.itch.io/longies-camps-out -
you’ll need Unity on browser to play.
It’s still rough and a little buggy (in more ways than one ;) But I’m willing to remake it someday.
