The planet Saturn can be concealing when it wants to be, as one of the symbols for Saturn’s corresponding sephiroth, Binah, is known as the outer robes of concealment. It conceals in the way a womb conceals a child for nurturing, safety and development. It’s through structure, time and limitation (Saturn’s associations), the full revelation gets withheld until something is ready to emerge or be understood. Raw wisdom (Chokmah) needs time to marinate because prematurely revealing leads to a risk of misunderstanding that wisdom. For example a mother’s doesn’t explain adult concepts to a child. Not cause she’s hiding the truth but because the child must grow into understanding. This is a positive form of Saturn’s concealment. However, there’s also a very nefarious and debilitating version of concealment as well. A book/film that perfectly displays both aspects would be “The Giver” by Lois Lowry.

In the film the Giver, it revolves around a seemingly utopian society, within a community that has managed to remove all the negative aspects of our world from the minds of people in the community through suppressing emotions, memories, freedom of choice and individuality. However, there is one member of the community that’s allow to retain their emotions and memories, and that’s the Receiver of Memory (known as the Giver). Their purpose is to act as a living archive of the past, a carrier of memory, pain and truth that everyone else can be relived from carrying themselves. The Giver lives in isolation, within but separate from the community itself and simultaneously an intricate part of it. Now, the ones who dictates who this role goes to are the Council of Elders, who are also aware of these memories existence but the Giver holds the burden of carrying them, while the Council of Elders makes sure that these memories remain suppressed. Their general role within the community is of a overseers, controlling every aspect of this carefully manufactured society, enforcing sameness and order.

It’s in Binah where the “vision of sorrow” dwells. It’s not just about sorrow but about accepting all of existence as it is, even the seemingly negative aspects of it. This is understanding in a state of completion, which brings sorrow. The Receiver of Memory embodies the vision of sorrow, and actually lives in a state of burden because of the immense weight of this role. It’s such a vital role to the community that if the Receiver of Memory were to somehow wander off and get lost from the community then all of those memories he carried would return to everyone, which includes all of the emotions and sensations that follow along with it. This would be overwhelming for the members of the community, as they have never experienced them before, and it could risk the community becoming destabilized, confused and chaotic altogether. The Council of Elders rules, guidelines and protocols makes sure that this would never happen, especially in their decision on who becomes the receiver of memory. The current receiver of memory in book and film deliberately chooses to not share all he knows to the members of the community, even though he could but he doesn’t because he does not want to overwhelm them as well. It would be too much of a overstimulating experience for the collective that it could probably cause them to spiral.

Note: Interestingly the Receiver of Memory is the only one allowed to have a locked door, unlike the rest of the community’s doors, which come without a lock, so all of the doors in the community are unlocked.

This sentiment can be seen in Uttara Bhadrapada’s, presiding deity Ahirbudhnya. The thousand headed serpent that resides in the depths of the sea, the base of foundation, carrying the world on its hoods. Receiving and guarding the knowledge Vishnu passed onto him through his penance (Ahirbudhnya-saṃhitā). Ahirbudhnya acts as a guardian to this sacred knowledge, so just like how he guards the hidden crystalline grid (Barbara Pijan attributes this to UBP, via their deity Ahirbudhnya) beneath the earth, where cosmic knowledge and energetic treasures of the earth are stored. The Receiver of Memory safeguards the collective memory of humanity (the one that the community has grown to be made aware of). His role is unseen but still essential. The memories he carries are like jewels, powerful, dangerous and sacred. Just like the serpent in the depths, he carries the weight of the world not above ground but in silence (Binah’s virtue is silence) and internally, until one’s prepared to receive it. As I said it’s an important role and the Council of Elders carefully chooses who’s to become the receiver of memory within the community because they essentially carry the power to destabilize the very community they resides in as well, so it’s important that it’s not just anyone becoming the receiver.

Note: The Receiver of Memory is Saturn’s robe of concealment, Binah’s sorrow, and Uttara Bhadrapada’s serpent guardian all in one. A living vault of memory and one that must remain closed until the consciousness of the receiver is mature enough to open it.

(2) Note: Though UBP is a Saturn nakshatra, it’s still in the sign of Pisces, associated to 12th house, so it’s ultimate purpose revolves around achieving moksha and moksha is liberation. It’s in the 12th house where all things come to an end. The 10th (societal structures and hierarchies) and 11th (communities) are essentially being dissolved here.

In the world of The Giver, the role now known as the Giver was originally called the Receiver of Memory (which from here on, out, this paragraph I will be using The Giver rather than receiver of memory). When the Council of Elders selects a new Receiver within the community, the title evolves. The newly chosen individual inherits the responsibilities and wisdom of the Giver, reflecting a continuity that predates the community’s adoption of “sameness”. This transfer is not merely symbolic, it occurs through a form of energetic transmission, whereby the outgoing Giver imparts accumulated knowledge, experience and emotional depth to the incoming Receiver. In this sense, the process resembles an initiation, transforming the individual into a guardian of the community’s unseen infrastructure and a crystalline grid composed of energetic “treasures” and frequencies that form a intricate geometric structure. Through this system, the Giver serves as the living repository of memory, ensuring the stability and continuity of the society while carrying the weight of its collective past.

Note: The actor who plays as the Giver, Jeff Bridges, has Saturn in the first house. An absolute perfect casting choice on par to the director for channeling Saturn through a physical vessel (Lagna). On top of that, he’s a Jyestha sun, and that nakshatra in itself relates to the elderly and senior positions.

As for the Council of Elders, the theme of concealment (it’s shadow aspect) becomes clear. What was originally Saturn and Binah’s role as a container of wisdom shifts into something rigid, sterile and suppressive. Instead of nurturing understanding, the structure hardens into a shell that traps rather than reveals. In this state, it ceases to be Binah in its true sense because the spark of Chokmah (the living current of wisdom) becomes veiled. The womb of development becomes a hallow form, more prison than a sanctuary. The Council reflects this distortion, as they hold the framework of memory but only in a detached, abstract sense. Unlike the Giver, they do not feel the weight of experience and the grief, the awe, the depth of lived truth that comes with it. Their detachment allows them to govern effectively but it mirrors Binah’s shadow such as, form without essence, law without empathy and order without wisdom.

S**or*l (censoring for safety reasons) is Binah in its shadow, a structure where wisdom is veiled and the spirit within is obscured. The vitality that should animate life is trapped, just as the community in The Giver is absent of color, emotion and choice in exchange for “sameness”. Everything has form, but its meaning is concealed beneath layers of suppression. On the surface, the community appears orderly and even successful because of the efficiency of the system woven within, however this order works solely at a surface level. The members in the community function, yet without much depth. Emotions are flattened into faint impressions, relationships reduced to assigned roles and individuality dissolved into uniformity.

Note: Members of the community are required to take pills, presented as a treatment for “stirrings”, which are feelings of sexual desires and romantic attraction. While the pills are described as suppressing those specific emotions, their effect extends more broadly to the dampening of powerful emotions in general.

It’s lacking of that je ne sais quoi that really places that special touch to life. The salt that makes a cuisine flavorful. This is the effect סתריאל (shadow function of Binah), it fosters dissociation and emotional numbness. It offers a seemingly protective shield but only by concealing what truly lives underneath. To avoid facing reality, one must remain in this suppressed state, where the fullness of life is perpetually deferred. What is being suppressed here is not just isolated emotions or memories but the entire human experience itself. The people are denied the richness of joy (emotions are regulated here) and love, yes but also the depth that comes through sorrow, loss, pain and mortality. The protagonist, Jonas, even reflect on this, “They have never known pain, he thought. The realization made him feel desperately lonely.”

In Binah, the vision of sorrow emerges precisely because true understanding embraces the totality of existence, both its light and shadows. סתריאל seemingly inverts this, by hiding that totality behind illusion. The community’s safety is revealed as a deceitful bubble, an artificial safety net that actually stunts growth, which leaves its members trapped in a half-life. They function but never truly live. Interestingly enough, the translation of סתריאל is the “concealment of god/concealing ones” (also known as dark Saturn). It’s a labyrinth shrouded in darkness. Confusion, ignorance, and deceit lives here, especially for those who refuse to accept life’s truths. In this shadow sephiroth, one must be able to use discernment to see through the illusion but also be able to be the illusionist, concealer and author of confusion themselves without necessarily being caught in ignorance.

While doing research for this, I also noticed how closely things started to remind me of the alchemical concept of the “Black Sun” (also associated with Saturn), particularly the nigredo, which it’s translated to the blackening. This is the first stage and probably one of the most challenging of the three stages in the Great Work (the process of working with the prima matera to create the philosopher stone, lead to gold). This is total dissolution, where matter and the self are stripped down to their basic and unformed state. It’s the needed decomposition, breaking down of old structures and forms in preparation for refinement and transformation. From a psychological, Jungian standpoint, it’s a confrontation with the shadow. Our repressed fears, illusions and suppressed truths that must be faced to achieve a deeper understanding than what we thought we knew.

I can say that the Giver metaphorically initiates Jonas into the stage of Nigredo, the blackening. Prior to this, Jonas lived in a state of unadulterated ignorance go his surroundings. Just blissfully unaware of what was truly happening to and around him, while simultaneously willingly abiding to it all. In alchemical terms, he was like lead, the dense, unrefined base material (associated to Saturn), containing potential yet undeveloped and heavy with inertia. However, during his sessions with the Giver, he becomes increasingly aware and with this awareness comes sorrow, pain and the knowing of one’s own mortality that his community had essentially “shielded” him from. His naive perception is dissolved, much like lead undergoing the blackening process, confronting the shadow of reality and experiencing the weight of existence in its entirety (vision of sorrow). Jonas starts to change, desires change and begins to actively reckon with the concealed truths around him but this confrontation with the darkness is only the beginning of his journey, which ultimately moves towards Albedo, the whitening, symbolized by his travel into the snow.

Note: The chief elder and the council of elders can be representative of Capricorn, while the community itself embodies Aquarius, an extension of the council’s ideology (additional note: which the 9th house is the house of all kinds of ideologies, philosophies and beliefs, which are essentially codified entering into the 10th house). The stage of Capricorn is the moment where we make a name for ourselves in this world and find our seat in the established order and hierarchy of our society, as well where we meet the authorities of this existing structure. The nakshatras within this further explores the nuances of this process. Once we’ve completed that stage, in Capricorn, we move onto Aquarius, still a Saturn-ruled rasi. Now that we got ourselves established in the world, it’s here where we build our network circles, furthering our influence but also our support system which would ultimately aid in growth of our gain. It’s so interesting to see that the glyph (Two horizontal lines, top line including a half circle) of Libra does in fact resemble a setting sun. When the Sun enters into the 7th house, it actually is in a state of descending (much like a sunset) and losing it’s radiance. This makes room for the sky to be enveloped by the dark and it remains in darkness (not entirely since the Moon helps illuminate light as well but it’s not the Sun) in till the Sun rises once again. Which comes to no surprise that the Sun has its exaltation in Aries, the start of the spring equinox. On the contrary, when we enter into Libra season, which would be the fall equinox, there’s equal parts of the day and night. From Libra to Aries is considered to be the dark side of the zodiac, while from Aries to Libra it’s the light side of the zodiac (which can be seen in it’s sect, where from Libra to Aries would be afternoon/evening). Libra being the start of the descending Sun on the zodiac wheel actually reminds me a lot of the Egyptian goddess Maat, who’s the goddess of truth, justice and cosmic order. Her role is in weighing the heart (which would be an organ associated with the Sun and the Sun is the karaka of the soul, which would fall align to the sephiroth Tiphareth and it’s the heart of the tree of life but let me stop before this becomes longer than intended) against the feather of truth in the afterlife, which would also determine their fate in the underworld. To add, there is also another deity that I could correlate this to as well and that’s Chitragupta. If you look closely within the name of Chitragupta, you would see Chitra and interestingly enough it’s the nakshatra which starts the sign of Libra (oh how convenient it is to be the most tamasic as well. It’s guna being tamas-tamas-tamas). He acts as a scribe and record keeper for Yama (basically acting as his assistant). Chitragupta would keep detailed records of every person’s actions, good and bad so that Yama could judge them fairly. Now, the deity Yama presides within the nakshatra Bharani, which sits in Aries and Aries makes up the first half of the axis between Aries and Libra. There’s some cultures that sees earth as a place where we live out our judgements given to us, and Aries being the beginning, it could also be the beginning of when we have to actually face our karmas. Okay, I’m stopping now ahhh.

Jupiter represents expansion, growth and the boundless potential of what could be (which reflects Jupiter’s association with optimism), just floating, unstructured possibilities that stretch toward infinity. Saturn, in turn, brings boundaries and structure, shaping this limitless energy into form. Like a sperm, which exists in a state of potential while swimming freely, but once the conditions are right, it can begin to take shape. In this analogy, Saturn is that womb and Jupiter is that vigorous sperm cell. Interestingly, Binah, who’s associated to the planet Saturn has associations to the womb. While Chokmah, who’s associated to the planet Jupiter (it’s actually Uranus but it fits Jupiter too well), can be attributed to a seed (more so a seed of wisdom, which is what Chokmah is, while Binah is the understanding of said wisdom). Which just emphasizes Saturn and Jupiter connection to the sperm and womb. This dynamic can manifest positively in relationships, between couples, in a friendship, or in any type of relationship, where one person embodies Saturn and the other embodies Jupiter. The Saturn person can recognize the potential the Jupiter person carries, which may not yet have had proper avenues to develop, and can help shape, guide and refine it. Saturn acts as a stabilizing, supportive (keyword is supportive here) structure, allowing Jupiter’s expansive energy to become tangible and fruitful. However, this relationship can turn negative if the Saturn person becomes controlling, limiting, or overly rigid and dictating how the Jupiter person’s potential is used instead of nurturing it. In a case like this, Saturn’s structuring becomes oppressive rather than supportive, and Jupiter’s boundless possibilities may actually feel stifled, trapped under these restrictive forces coming from Saturn.

There are three nakshatras that carry the energies of Saturn and Jupiter: Pushya (lorded by Saturn but with Brihaspati as its presiding deity), Purva Bhadrapada (lorded by Jupiter but within a Saturn ruled rasi), and Uttara Bhadrapada (lorded by Saturn but within a Jupiter ruled rasi). The energies are expressed uniquely through each of them.

To revisit Pushya, it is also situated within a Moon lorded rasi. Here, control and structure (Saturn) come from within, while external influences remain lunar (Moon). This can show up as emotional expression being deliberate and controlled so, choosing how, when, and to whom feelings are shown, rather than reacting spontaneously. Which wouldn’t necessarily mean emotional suppression but just a structured processing of emotions (thoughts too). The mind (Moon) is also filtered through Saturn lens, so it does not easily succumb to external stimuli. Now, Brihaspati, the personification of Jupiter (expansion, wisdom, knowledge, teaching, guidance) is likewise altered by Saturn. Here, his expression of wisdom and insight becomes more measured and deliberate rather than freely dispersed. Wisdom is shared thoughtfully, not impulsively.

Now as for Purva Bhadrapada, it begins in Aquarius before transitioning into Pisces, so its expression varies depending on the sign. In Aquarius, it reflects expansion tempered by external limitations and restrictions. It would be equivalent to bread rising in a loaf pan. The dough just keeps swelling, pressing against the pan, expanding as much as it can within the defined space but let’s say the dough continues to expand, that would make it to where it eventually outgrows the space it was in. I see this being a theme of breaking free or breaking boundaries. When PBP enters into Pisces then that’s when its full expression can be seen because Saturn’s presence is absent here. I can see it being more explorative here.

Moving onto Uttara Bhadrapda, it’s more similar to Pushya, with control and limitation arising from within but meeting outer expansion. This can translate as gradualism, which would be slow but steady growth. Still growth but deliberate growth. Think of it like a submarine in the ocean. It has structure, direction and pace through its own systems rather than being tossed around by the external currents of the tides. Even though the ocean is vast and fluid, the submarine imposes a concrete and stable presence (which is an analogy I used when discussing about Pisces with an Astro enthusiast once of many, who happen to have UBP as their Lagna, moon and jupiter ❤️). Similarly, Ananta, the serpent on whom the Hindu god Vishnu reclines, provides foundational support, holding steady as the world rests upon his many hoods.

A real life example of this dynamic, is the relationship between Micheal Jackson and Joe Jackson (Micheal’s father) but on an extreme and toxic scale. Joe has his Lagna situated in Pushya nakshatra (Saturn lorded but within a Moon-ruled rasi), with an exalted Saturn aspecting his chart ruler, the Moon, as well as Mars (irritation to mind) and Rahu (eclipses the mind, distortion) in the 6th from the 4th house (3rd aspect but will improve through effort). His chart ruler has so much malefic influence bombarding it. Additionally, his exalted Saturn casts a 10th aspect (improves through effort) on his 1st house (which would be a mask of control and containment even though internal turbulence exists) from the 4th house. As for Micheal Jackson, he has his moon in Purva Bhadrapada (Jupiter lorded but within a Saturn lorded rasi). Also his Jupiter cast a 5th aspect to his first house and cast a 9th aspect to his 3rd house, where his Mars (domicile) and Ketu resides. Now, what puts the cherry on top for me is that Micheal’s Jupiter conjoins his father’s Saturn, so they’re literally embodying these energies in their relationship.

As documented, Joe Jackson used severe and often abusive methods to train Micheal and his brothers earlier in their career (just to note, Jupiter is the karaka of children and children are filled with a lot of potential, so it’s not a surprise his father also directed this Saturn energy to all of his children) . Rehearsals were run like military drills and mistakes were not just corrected, they were punished. Joe was known to physically beat his sons with belts, switches or electrical cords for even the smallest errors, sometimes leaving them bruised and shaken. He regularly used verbal humiliation, calling them names and tearing down their confidence under the guise of building discipline. He was also reported to stand behind them with a belt in hand during rehearsals. This constant pressure and fear created an environment were always on edge, afraid to disappoint. Most of this abuse was directed at Micheal, both because he was the lead and because he displayed the greatest potential amongst his siblings. Joe pushed him harder than anyone else, setting impossibly high standards and treating him less like a son and more like an investment. While it could be said that this diffcult upbringing contributed to the immense success of Micheal and his brothers, it left a lasting and destructive impact, as Micheal did carry emotional and psychological scars from his father’s methods throughout his life. However, Micheal did carry so much potential (multi-dimensional and versatile talent) that it could have went anywhere but again, his father took it upon himself to bring that into shape (which I could assume would be through his own vision as well).

The most accurate and insightful understanding I’ve gotten about a nakshatra or sign often comes from people who actually have that nakshatra or sign in their chart and shared their own perspective on it, because they live and breathe its energy on a karmic, psychological, and energetic level. From that position the texts become confirmation rather than revelation. That’s why when researching and gathering data on an energy we do not necessarily embody, we also search for real world examples as a means of confirmation of our data. Even better if it’s confirmed through feedback. However, theories can be fun to conjure up as well :)

All of this thought on Ketu and ancestry reminded me of a guy I knew who has Ketu in his first house and how he just would refuse to cut his hair. He was nearly fired from his job because of it! I’m exaggerating a bit lol, but he did receive warnings to do something about his hair since it was and still is very long and worn loosely. I recommended him to invest in hair ties and start looking up tutorials on how to make man buns :) Anyways, I’m bringing this up to highlight how hair holds our DNA. To be specific, it contains our genetic code because the root holds living cells that carry our DNA. Which means that hair literally carries the biological information passed down through our ancestors, which also simultaneously would make it a physical symbol of lineage and inherited traits. Given that Ketu is also associated with the past, this connection gives even more significance to hair as an extension of that ancestral link.

There’s this link I’ve noticed between the nakshatras Rohini and Mula, connected through the shared influence of the deity Prajapati, who presides over both of them. For Mula, Prajapati acts as a secondary deity and Rohini, Prajapati is interchangeable with Bhrama. This connection reveals Mula to having a much deeper relationship to creativity than it would initially seem, on an artistic level and also one’s ancestral lineage. According to the American institute of Vedic studies, under Mula’s nakshatra, Prajapati desired, “may I find the root of progeny”. The word progeny relates to children, and to find the root of progeny would be to find the origin of an ancestral lineage. In turn, Mula wants some form of control over the ancestral lineage, ultimately being the root of it altogether (a progenitor) but also there’s an accessibility to it indicated here. To harken back on the more creativity aspect of this all, this access to such creative forces (that’s most likely powered from their ancestral lineage) would make for naturally talented individuals. Depending on what’s in this lineage would determine what exactly it is that’s at their disposal.

Rohini’s associations to Parajapti helps facilitate in creation as well but puts emphasis on the act of union. According to the American institute of Vedic studies, under Rohini’s nakshatra, Prajapati desired, “May she approach me. May we unite together”. It’s through that initial union that starts the ancestral lineage. Remember that Prajapati is occasionally portrayed as the first god, and him attempting to unite with Rohini would be in aim to facilitate creation, as creation itself, which simultaneously would set creation in motion. Furthermore, Rohini’s basis above is plants and basis below is water, the water nourish the plants, and Rohini’s shakti (Rohana shakti, the power of growth) makes sure they’re flourishing. Here, the conditions are perfectly aligned for creation (Prajapati) to plant its seed, allowing growth to take root and thrive in fertile grounds. Which I find it to be so interesting that on one hand Mula has this deity that revolves around destruction but also one that revolves around creation, which simultaneously works hand and hand within Mula’s nakshatra. Think of it like a conqueror entering foreign land, not just taking control on the surface but impregnating the women so his seed will eventually encompass the land entirely. It’s more than a surface invasion. It’s about planting one’s imprint deep in the roots, embedding a lasting legacy but also removing another’s to make room for one’s own (just a mundane perspective).

I actually have suspicions that certain (actually two) famous composer actually has Mula as his moon rather than the nakshatra that appears on their birth chart (in matters of Ayanamsa differences) but that’s for a completely different discussion, that’s not appropriate for this season. The D60 (Shashtiamsa) chart, is one of the divisional charts in Vedic astrology. It’s classified as a higher (spiritual) divisional chart compared to a mundane (earthly matters) chart. In this chart it divides each zodiac sign into 60 equal parts of 0.5 (which would be 30 mintues) each. Each of these 60 divisions is associated with a deity, which symbolic nature reflects the quality of karma (it can be benevolent or malefic) that a planet carries into this current incarnation. However it’s just another layer used (mainly advanced and spiritual Vedic astrologers) when looking into this chart. Overall it’s a chart revolving around our accumulated karmas (blessings and not so blessings) from our past lives that show forth in our life as of right now. It’s the whys to the physical conditions experienced in the mundane world. D1 chart is the physical conditions themselves.

Now, to the inspiration of today’s question. Vedic YouTuber, Astrology Loka (highly recommend) claims that we can see our deep soul personality from looking at ascendant in the D60 chart (Even putting importance to transits that occur on the D60 Lagna). She briefly explains that this energy (which comes natural to us) can be seen as early as infancy but becomes more subsided as we grow older and become more engaged with our current reality. Additionally, she notes that the position of the D60 Lagna lord can reveal the path our soul is in this life. However D60 is a time sensitive chart so correct birth time is important. Luckily enough, Astrology Loka has shared one of the main methods she uses to rectify the birth time for D60, so if you’re interested in checking that out then here’s the video below:

I’m just curious if this resonates for you. If these soul level energies are evident in infancy, before conditioning takes over, then observing them could actually be more straightforward than expected, especially if we reflect on early behaviors and tendencies. Watch when people find out that the 7th house is also a house of determining death too, as it’s one of the maraka houses, (death inflicting). The 6th (diseases and enemies) supports this, as the 7th is the 2nd from the 6th. Diseases can feed into the death inflicting potential of the 7th. However, 7th house is still the house of marriage, as its representative opposite of oneself (1st house). That’s the spouse, so union still exist here but also opposite of oneself is enemies too, so we have to consider that as well. Interestingly, the 8th house is a house of longevity (so it determines the situation of death). The 12th house (loss) is 7th from the 8th house (longevity). The outcome of longevity is moksha, so like the final departure.

The nakshatra of Revati highlights the importance of proper nourishment of a child. The shakti associated to Revati is kshiradyapani shakti, which is the power to nourish, protect and foster. Its basis above is cows and its basis below is calves, which calves are baby cows. When a child has been provided the proper nourishment (which goes beyond just material support) from their parents or guardian then the likelihood of them developing to become a well-rounded adult increases significantly. Just as the cow starts as a calf before becoming the main source of nourishment, they needed nourishment themselves to grow and develop to eventually evolve from calf to cow. This also applies to children. This nourishment is important for a child and also for the family as well. Remember that Revati is known as the “wealthy star”, and just as an adult cow can provide that nourishment for the collective, that well nurtured adult can also become a source of sustenance in return. This can take place on a much grander scale, benefiting the world or on an intimate level like enriching just the family. Which I believe each can bring generational wealth in their own distinctive rights.

Now, when you come across a child who appears to be starved of nourishment needed from their providers, be that nourishment for them at that moment. The Hindu deity Shani, associated with the planet Saturn, as the personification of Saturn, is said to possess a powerful and intense gaze. His glance is believed to bring delays, obstacles, hardship, or karmic consequences. This is a reason to why Shani depicted looking downwards, to avoid causing undue harm. There’s tale (Brahma‑Vaivarta) where Shani went to the birth of Ganesha, which he wasn’t initially invited to but he managed to be there anyways. Shani came and just a glanced at Ganesha and…well, it ended with Ganesha having no head on his body. There’s also a tale (Skanda Purana) where his father, Surya (the Sun god), insulted him at birth and he looked at his father in anger, which resulted in Surya’s radiance dimming from his gaze. Some sources claim his light was extinguished temporarily. Which I found interesting because it’s usually Surya that has an overwhelming effect due to his brilliance but Saturn is the greater malefic while Sun is more so a mild malefic.

The eyes are the window to the soul and Sun is the karaka of the soul, Surya’s the personification of the Sun and if Shani has that much of an debilitating effect on Surya then it really shows how heavily Saturn can weigh on the soul itself. Also in an astrological sense, Saturn aspecting or conjunct the Sun would place its restrains on Sun’s expression, which can manifest as an actual inability to express one’s own identity, lack of confidence on who you are at a core level, shyness and also reserved when it comes to that solar aspect. However, it’s Saturn so, it can be overcome and improve with time and effort but an obstacle nonetheless (Saturn does grant great rewards though). Interestingly, the only other planet that I know of that can also do this to Sun is Rahu, which eclipses Sun.

However, that’s not necessarily the main point of this post. The purpose is to bring our attention to the eyes of people who have Saturn prominently placed in their chart, just to observe them and see what you pick up from that. Just curious to see if myth translate into real life, as it does in film, which it’s starting to seem to be a reoccurring case but confirmation is always nice. I have two at the moment. Angelina Jolie for instance, she had orchestrated a staring contest with various cast members from the marvel film Eternals. They’ll sit across from each other until one of them blinked. Most, if not all of them failed and one of them couldn’t even last for a second. Another person also conducted a starring contest as well, the artist Marina Abramovic, who has Anuradha as sun and Aquarius moon. In her case, it wasn’t celebrities, but strangers who came in. All of them failed, had different reactions, and some cried. It was until her ex-lover, Ulay (who has an Anuradha sun) entered and participated, she actually had a reaction and cried. Prior to that she had no reaction and more so others were reacting to her. It’s an interesting turn of events to see occur.

Solar Women and The Curse of Sacrifice

None of them really love you...they just fixated on you because of how you made them feel. But that's not real love.

Solar Nakshatra women possess within them a unique inner radiance, that translates to an external shine. That shine provokes a plethora of reactions from the native’s environment, some of them less obvious than you would think from such a positive placement. The Sun is a sad lesson in realizing, that when people see something good in front of them, they want to own it and control it, and try to destroy what they can’t control.

We must remember, that the Sun has a malefic nature to it. It is responsible for dividing limitations, drawing territorial lines, ruling over its kingdom and burning its enemies. The king has an unquestionable, objective advantage of position and with that advantage comes power. However, with power comes jealousy, competition and fake flattery practiced by sneaky position-grabbers.

Solar Nakshatras over time grow into not trusting most people, as they deal a lot with those who simply want to stay in their good graces for their own benefit. People desire to bask in their energy so much they will do everything to hold onto it, even just for a chance for a “turn” with them. The mere presence of the Solar woman makes men feel validated in their masculinity and women feeling like some of that magical shine is falling on them.

The difficulty starts when people realize they’re not allowed access to that magical Solar energy anymore. The intense jealousy experienced causes the Solar native enemies. “If I can’t have her, nobody can”. First, they try to control such a woman and lock her up, then if that fails, they try to destroy her.

To understand the reason behind such reactions in people, minus the basic psychology of human pettiness, we can look to Kabbalah in order to understand the energy of Tiphareth.

The karmic purpose of Tiphareth, and thus, the Sun, is to achieve an energetic state of higher being and enter into a real connection with the Divine. In fact, Kabbalah compares Tiphareth to Jesus dying on the Cross in the name of God. So the native is required to give up any latent internal narcissism, that can come with being born into advantage, and truly join God from an ascended, more selfless place.

In fact, Tiphareth can be so in love with their own energetic radiance and beauty, they can think themselves superior to others. The Universe sends them “punishing” experiences in order for them to understand the meaning and value of true love, in both human and divine form. Otherwise, they get “killed” for the purpose of their beauty being sacrificed for a higher purpose, even if that is done so through people’s lower reactions.

Solar women actually really struggle to find true love, because they struggle to find people who genuinely care for their best interests instead of just using them. The curse of the Sun is to be “lonely at the top”. But if they have inner perseverance and don’t fall too far into the narcissism spectrum, they end up recognizing those who truly love them over those who simply envy them.

Cameron Diaz has had many famous roles, but in the context of this subject, the best example is her role in There’s Something About Mary.

Mary is a beautiful, giving young woman with a soft spot for disabled people due to her own family situation. However, she has no luck in relationships, as she attracts perverts, stalkers and creeps who lie, commit fraud and adopt false identities just to be able to get near her or get a scrap of her attention. She actually had to get a restraining order against one of them, move across the country and change her name to protect her peace. These men all act like they’re entitled to something from her just because of her kindness. Mary only finds love with Ted, when he calls out her past lovers on not really caring about her well being, but simply being around her radiance being a balm on their insecurities. He’s also proved to be the only one to actually have interests in common with her and get along with her family. This is the level of choosiness a Solar woman must adopt.

Elle Fanning, Uttara Phalguni Moon.

Elle has had several roles, that exemplify the Solar woman archetype. One of them is her performance in A Rainy Day in New York, where she is a student interviewing celebrities and artists for her college newspaper. As she meets them, famous men all find her attractive and want to have an affair with her, but at the end of the day she finds herself abandoned in difficult circumstances, when all these men want to own her, but ultimately leave her to fend for herself. She ends up single, when her boyfriend realizes she doesn’t share any of his interests or aspirations. This is a good example of a Solar woman who hasn’t managed to find a partner through the right set of guidelines, but is still learning them.

In The Neon Demon, Elle actually embodies the Narcissus type, falling in love with her own beauty and being careless with people’s jealousy over it, using them for her own advantage when she is forced to, but at the end of the day showing condescension towards a more innocent form of infatuation. As a result of her mistakes, she gets killed by jealous women in a ritual used to take her shine away from her, as per the “Sacrificed” archetype. You can also see the women who killed her benefiting from her energy after her death.

Monica Belucci, Uttara Ashadha Ascendant in Malena.

Malena is the most beautiful woman in town, but she attracts attention of too many men, and her beauty sparks intense jealousy of local women. As a result, they beat her up, permanently changing her. She is only accepted when she is no longer a threat to the townsfolk, and settled with her husband she fits into the community.

I wanted to say how your words actually reminded me of the story in the Markandeya Purana, which involves Surya (personification of the Sun in the Hindu pantheon) and his wife Sanjana, like the dynamic is such a perfect metaphor for this. Sanjana, throuh married to the Sun God, couldn’t bear his overwhelming heat. Her solution? She left a shadow of herself behind and went into the forest to perform penance. Surya of course, sensed the truth and later had Vishwakarma (Santana’s father) reduce his radiance so he could be more bearable to others. Even the excess light had to be transmitted. Keyword, transmitted, not destroyed but redirected into weapons, symbols of purpose and protection (depending on its wielder of course). That’s the journey of the Solar soul, learning to temper their brilliance so it serves something higher rather than scorching everything in its path. Which the Sun can unintentionally and unknowingly do this, as can be seen in the astrological concept of combustions. Though Sattva (light, clarity, harmony, balance, etc, etc), it’s still very much a malefic, though mild, it should be considered regardless. Which I’m so glad that you mentioned it as well.

As you said mention, Tiphareth does represents the heart of the Tree of Life, the Sun/Son, the sephira of harmony, beauty, and spiritual balance. It’s the place of sacrificed radiance, what some call the Christ principle or even the archetype of the wounded healer. We all know the treatment Christ received when he walked this earth, despite being the Son of the living God. Just like Surya had to reduce his radiance, and have his light transmitted not destroyed but redirected and so too did Christ. He dimmed his own natural brilliance to serve a much greater purpose, his father’s work. From Christ doing so allowed for others to receive his healing, his message and his overall presence cause as I had mentioned prior, Surya’s initially had been an overwhelming presence, to where it had the negative effect of pushing others away rather than bringing them in. This would have interfered with the greater work at large Christ was ultimately sent to fulfill. Light’s not being vanished but transmuted. However there’s pain here for sure. One of the magical images for this sephiroth is a “sacrificed god” and to sacrifice can be difficult.

Tiphareth also serves as a bridge between the upper sephiroth (divine/spiritual) and the lower sephiroth (earthly/human). To stand at this junction means it must mediate between both worlds. That mediation itself is a sacrifice. The solar soul has to be refined enough to transmit the divine without letting ego distort it and humble enough to walk amongst people without clinging to superiority. Which is why I say that the Sun is not ego. It’s not suppose to be egoic. It’s not about being seen, it’s about illuminating. Here is where you give up self-glory to reflect divine glory. That is the sacrifice, not physical death in cases but egoic death, surrending the need to be adored or understood, in order to act as a mirror for divine truth. The examples that you’ve used here were so on par with just that. Beautifully illustrated.

There’s also a second tale also involving Surya but also Hanuman, which I believe adds another powerful layer. More so further confirming the reaction Solar energy ignites around itself. Hanuman had mistaken Surya for a fruit cause of his radiance and had attempted to consume him but had been struck with lightening by Indra. Mistaking Surya for a fruit shows how innocent eagerness or desire can come into conflict with overwhelming divinity and even a childlike soul like Hanuman was met with divine consequences when he overreached (similar to the Greek lore of Icarus and the Sun). It reinforces the idea that those who carry solar power often trigger reactions in others simply because of the intensity of their presence, even unintentionally, as you can see in the tale of Hanuman and Surya. Their light can confuse, attract, or even provoke. Not out of malice but because divine radiance always demands right relationship. Christ also experienced this as well.

Interestingly enough the director for the renowned film, Passion of Christ was directed by Mel Gibson, who has a sun nakshatra moon. In the 2001, Son Of God series, Diogo Morgado who played as Christ has an Uttara Ashahda sun and mercury, with jupiter and mars in Leo. Furthermore, in the series, Yellowjacket, Ellen Purnell’s (who has an Uttara Phalguni sun) charcater, Jackie is the first to unwillingly sacrificed by and amongst her friends for their ultimate survival. To be human is to be beautiful. The symbol of Venus, a circle above a cross, reflects this truth. The circle represents spirit and the cross, matter. It’s a symbol of the spiritual and physical merging as one. We, as human beings, are walking embodiments of this harmonious fusion. THE MOON IS A PORTAL: From Divine Will to Manifestation

Hello, This is Magnolia :) I’ve been marinating on this for sometime now and felt called to share an insight that’s been unfolding for me, one that ties the Moon to manifestation and the physical world in a way I didn’t fully grasp until recently. I briefly touched on this in an earlier post but through continued practice and reflection, things have started to click with more clarity.

In exploring this further, I began looking more closely at Yesod, one of the sephiroth (and one of the most mentioned amongst my sphere) in the Kabbalistic Tree of Life. It’s closely associated with the Moon and plays an important role in how non-physical energy becomes physical reality. It sits just above Malkuth, which represents the physical world. Yesod acts as the final gateway through which all the energies of the higher sephiroth must pass before becoming tangible in Malkuth. In other words, it’s the channel that translates spiritual potential into the physical reality.

Similarly, In Vedic astrology, the Moon is considered the karaka of the mind. The mind, like Yesod, is not physical but can influence our experience of reality. It’s through the mind that we perceive, interpret, and even shape our world. Though the Moon and Yesod exist in a more subtle, unseen realm, they serve as portals, translators between the spiritual and the physical. Keyword, portals! Just as I said, Yesod acts as the bridge to Malkuth. Just like how our minds can act as a conduit for higher forces to pass through and use our physical body as a means to express itself in the tangible world.

Again, the Moon is in fact an important aspect of manifestation, as it’s our mind but the mind can be a very confusing place, as it being a portal where energies travel through, it’s shifty and changeable, and moves as the energy that’s flowing through it at that moment. The conscious and subconscious mind sits in this realm, which is partially to why I believe that the conscious, or the subconscious mind shouldn’t be given greater importance than the force that’s above them all. Just like the Moon, both the conscious and subconscious mind can be impressed upon. The environment influences how the minds reflecting a perceives reality but environment itself is only a reflection of something much greater. That means the minds reflecting too, is reflecting a deeper, more powerful source than itself.

The powerful source that I’m referring to is Kether, the highest point on the Kabbalistic Tree of Life. It’s the first emanation, the most powerful of all the sephiroth. Kether is equivalent to the super-consciousness, pure-consciousness, the higher mind, the observer, the silent awareness behind your eyes. It’s not just a part of existence. It’s the very source from which all existence flows. It’s where the I AM lives. This is a place that’s not influenced by the mundane world but can influence the world itself. It’s the unchangeable in the changeable reality, Malkuth.

I’m going to try to explain how this all connects as clearly as I possibly can for people to understand because it took me time to understand it as well. I’m still learning. Anyways, so, Kether is the source, the divine spark, the intention of the higher self. That intention then filters down through the other sephiroths, eventually reaching Yesod, the sephiroth associated with the Moon. Yesod acts as the final gateway before energy becomes physical. It holds the blueprint of what’s to be manifested. Finally, it reaches Malkuth, the physical world where it becomes form.

In Vedic terms, this aligns with how the Moon (the mind) is the bridge between the inner world and outer experience. The mind receives impressions, often from the unseen realms and what it accepts as true eventually shapes physical reality. When your mind is in harmony with the higher will (Kether), manifestation can flow more naturally (as it has always been doing unbeknownst to your awareness).

That’s the end of this week’s Ted-Talk! If you’re familiar with Neville Goddard’s works, he often brings up this “I AM”. Which I was very interested in after first seeing it mentioned. Many questions aroused. Anyways, I have Saturn aspect Mercury and according to Shadbala (arashtakvarga position though…) I have a pretty strong mercury but regardless…I needed to throughly sit with this information like Shinji’s been with his stack of dirty clothes. I will definitely be returning to this.
