The cool thing about doing math professionally is that you can work anywhere - on your walks, in the shower, as you fall asleep - just by rotating problems in your head. What's not so cool is that this drives you insane

fun fact: that's basically how .SVG files work, and how they are so scalable
It's an equation that produces the image, so it stays high quality and sharp when vastly increased or decreased in size
One fun thing is that sometimes textbook authors know that diagrams and other visual aids can be helpful in explaining concepts but the part of a concept that can be explained visually is kinda limited. On an unrelated note I just came across the 4th diagram of the semester that visually illustrates the concepts of "close together" and "far apart" I think I am finally starting to wrap my mind around the idea.
Every day I go to class and someone with a PHD does fucked up shit to number and I'm like "nooooo your hurting them!" This is because I'm an empath

nothing funnier to me than when AI does math wrong. like I get why it happens, it's a language model that's treating the numbers you feed it as words rather than integers and then giving you an answer based on how those words typically appear in a block of text instead of actually performing a calculation. but the one thing computers are genuinely incredible at. you fucked up a perfectly good calculator is what you did, look at it it's got hallucinations
Mathematics I haven’t learned yet is mysterious, almost religious in how it tantalizes me.
Mathematics I am learning is frustrating and taxing.
Mathematics I have already learned is trivial, and left as an exercise to the reader.
