A heavy sigh escaped those parted lips , a hand tugging through his hair as the sunglasses blocked the sunny gaze from the spring sun. The courtyard , exceptionally busy that day from the welcoming weather and the environment filled with anticipation of summer. The one final that stressed Brooklyn the previous weeks now lifted off his shoulders , his thoughts marinated with the questions he double guessed on. Moving instinctively throughout the yard , his eyes didnât allow him to concentrate on anything else until he noticed her sitting alone under the tree. He couldnât help himself.Â
Managing his way towards the tree , he pretended to look around her. âExcuse me miss?â He asked to get her attention. âBut I lost something here , can you help look for it?â Again he pretended to look around her before bending a knee in front of her. âI think you actually took it , its my heart.â A bright smile peered on his lips as he offered his hand. âBrooklyn.âÂ
Sara was in her usual spot under the tree, doodling in her notebook. She hadnât seen the boy until he spoke. She smiled at him and nodded. âIâm yeah sure. What was it?â She asked before he knelt down in front of her. She smiled and laughed a bit, looking down so her hair covered her blushing cheeks. âOh wow. Well Iâm Sara.â She said and took his hand, shaking it. âGotta say, Iâve never heard that one before. Itâs quite good.â
âEasy to figure out something with such a pretty girl like you.â Brooklyn responded , shaking her hand before moving himself next to her. The sunglasses folding into his neck collar. Peering at her notebook , he continued his smile. âYou donât have to write down all this cryptic codes for my number , you can just ask.â He teased. â How were your finals?â
Sara smiled and let out a slight laugh. âWell thank you.â She said and shook her head. She wasnât used to compliments from boys. âWell theyâre doodles not cryptic codes but you have to earn my number first.â She said and smiled, she always enjoyed making boys work for it. âThey were alright. I just hope I didnât bomb them.â
âyou mind?â He asked , an excuse to get closer to her as he brushed his shoulders against hers , looking down at her drawings. â You got a lot of talent , are you a art major?â He asked before looking back up to her. âFair enough but you have to promise me after I get your number youre not going to ask me to marry you on our first date.â He jabbed back playfully. â Im sure you did ok , with your looks I donât know what professor would fail you.â
