Plurality Flags / Symbols
We're well aware that there's many flags, symbols and other things for headmates, origins, roles, etc.... But we didn't like a lot of them personally. We know not everything needs a flag or symbol, but we like having them displayed on our pluralkit banners or on our personal website! So we made some of our own.
This was started because our littles have a problem with the pastel cute aesthetics and the bottle or teddybear symbols commonly used for little flags/symbols. Not that there are bad things, but those symbols don't resonate with any of them and a lot of our littles feel infantalised by them. So we wanted something that felt more neutral but still seemed like it accurately conveyed "little" as a role. But we felt, in order to feel neutral, we needed a base of a plurality flag first.
So, we're calling this the plural unity flag.
It's inherently supportive of plurals of all origins, and takes heavy inspiration from the plural rings by emmengard.
The colours representing unknown (yellow), adaptive (green), created (pink) and spontaneous (blue) on the orignal symbol have been used here. The white in the middle represents these colours mixing like light--a representation of mixed origins as well as the colours/origins united at their core. The interlocked rings themselves are included here to make the flag clearer as to what it is, but we've made the space in the middle bigger in order to fit other symbols so we can make alternate flags for specific plural identities.
We'd have loved to make the colours gradient into each other or overlap like they do on the rings, but we wanted the desin to be more simple to replicate than that.
Now that we had a nice template that also works as a standalone, onto the other flags we were talking about earlier. We made a few more than originally intended!
Simply an arrow pointing down, "small", to represent littles. To reflect that, an upward one to represent bigs, and a horizontal arrow for middles. This felt more neutral to our littles and is meant to imply what littles are or how they act a lot less than some other flags we've seen.
Factfolk, Fictionfolk and Extranth
Made using preexisting factfolk, fictionfolk and extranth symbols. These can represent fictives/factives or other fiction/factfolk in systems--or a system that is collectively fiction/factfolk. The extranth symbol represents extranthropes in systems.
Core, Persecutor and Protector
These were a little trickier, but we wanted to include them.
The symbol for core is a box inside of a larger box--the middle piece of something larger.
The persecutor symbol is claw marks. Made with opinions from our persecutors, the symbol is meant to represent "lashing out" and potential harm. However, who the claws were aimed at or whether the attack was justified or not are up to interpretation. It was deliberately vague to include both persecutors who see themselves as misguided protectors as well as those who don't. You can't judge what someone was intending by claw marks they left behind.
The protector symbol is a shield. This feels self explanatory, but it's meant to represent how they often shield their system from harm.
We don't mind if people use these--that's why we posted them. We also don't mind if they don't. In the end, we made these for ourselves and may make more in the future.
You're also free to take the plural unity flag and add your own symbols to it. You're free to make a different version of the protector flag or the little flag--whatever suits you best. We know there's a lot of roles and things that occur in systems that we didn't cover. That's fine--you're free to make your own versions that do cover those things. As long as it remains wholly inclusive of all plurality, you can make new versions as you please.
